Mary Covey 02-28-2001, 05:07 PM Wouldn't you consider this a sitcom?

factsoflife 04-25-2001, 03:15 PM Clueless is a classic sitcom, in the sense that it uses every sitcom cliche and times it by twenty! it is a show that is very funny and amusing, but is not very sophistcated!
callmetootie 04-25-2001, 03:26 PM Clueless the Tv show, I think is a lot better then the movie with Alicia Silverstone. I kind of got turned off from the show though after it's first season, because I knew that there would not be any character development in the show whatsoever. The scripts were Ok, they were a bit too "whatever" for me.

Cokies 04-25-2001, 06:42 PM callmetootie- How can you like the show better the all-time classic movie? Seriously!
Amy Heckerling is a teen movie genius ( mind you, she directed 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High'). Clueless the movie was and is hilarious and ranks up there as one of the best teen films among 'Sixteen Candles' 'Breakfast Club' ( practicily every other movie written or directed by John Hughes). And 'Fast Times..'
The show itself was eh...so-so.
But you are talking to the person who loves the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' the MOVIE, over the television show...

Born2HaveOwnSitcom 04-29-2001, 06:47 PM I thought the show was really good, obviously not as good as the film but Elisa Donovan as Amber made me laugh in the show
ThomasE 06-25-2001, 06:36 PM I like the show too.
Mossopp 06-28-2001, 01:34 PM I didn't like the movie that much but I really liked the sitcom. I agree that Amber is really funny! The movie kinda bugged me - I mean, why did the characters have different names in the movie even though they were played by the same person in the sitcom? It's been a while since I saw the movie but Sean was called by a different name in it and so was (I think) the P.E. teacher.
And I wouldn't be so quick to praise Amy Heckerling either - she was responsible for 'Loser'. Never before has a movie had such a befitting name!

danithang 08-15-2001, 03:24 PM I like the movie a lot better than the show. If Alisha Silverstone would have played Cher in the show maybe I would have liked it. Rachel Blanchard was so bad at playing Cher, Alisha created the role and only a real good actress like her could play the role.

well, if you look at Amy's overall career i think you'd agree that she is a genuis, so what if she made ONE bad movie. even so-called great directors like SPielberg have made bad movies, like did anyone see A.I.?

Jo- Blair, i thought you liked that song?
Blair- i do
Jo- then why are you doing that to it?
Blair- doing what?
Jo- Sining it like Julie Andrews!

factsoflife 08-21-2001, 03:04 PM I wasn't comparing them, i was simply saying that One bad movie shouldn't dictate thier whold career, and Amy's other films have ceartinly merited her with Teen Movie Genuis Status, Amy heckerling is in a league all her own and shouldn't be compared to anyone, not even John Hughes, whose films are also brillant.
Jo- Sexy Lingere?
Andy- Yep, Sexy lingerie that's you, that's what i named you.
Tootie- Oh, say you didn't
Jo- I Will not be known as sexy lingerie.
" Gross-a-roo"- Punky Brewster.

TV Guy 08-23-2001, 09:19 PM Amy Heckerling was actually the executive producer during the show's first season, and she even wrote and/or directed some episodes. She was let go from the show when it moved to UPN. So she gets to share some of the blame/credit for the TV version.
I don't think Rachel Blanchard was very good as Cher. Sure, she looked like Alicia Silverstone, but she had no personality whatsoever. I always thought that Christine Taylor (Marcia from the "Brady Bunch" movies) would have made a better TV Cher. And, of course, they should have moved heaven and earth to get Dan Hedaya, who played Cher's father in the movie, to do the TV version as well. Doug Sheehan? Please.
danithang 08-31-2001, 08:56 PM Reese Witerspoon would have made a better Cher than Rachel Blanchard.

All the other characters has the same names. I'm not sure about Sean but I know everyone else did.

Dion: Two minus two equals Amber!
Moondance 10-05-2001, 03:56 PM I loved both the movie and the tv show! As a matter a fact, I used some of the words they used on the show in HS...Like a VALLEY GIRL!

that70sgrrl 10-16-2001, 06:49 PM Sean Holland's character in the movie was named Lawrence, in the TV series his name was Sean. In the movie Julie Brown was Miss Stoeger, in the TV series she was Coach Deemer. Both actors played the same character in both the movie and the show, so I don't understand the reasoning behind the name change.

I couldn't help but think and wonder the same thing concerning the name changes. The show itself seem to slowly fore-go its connections (especially with Dan Hedaya's original father character during the latter seasons) with the material that it was originally based on which itself was based on an old book that a majority of the target audience more than likely never cared to read in their life.
Tiger32 01-18-2002, 12:08 AM I really did not care much for the sitcom, I only watched the show to see Stacy Dash, who is easily one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life.
egypt99 06-18-2010, 05:50 PM what if the tv show had focus, more on the three main black peoples. on the show would you liked it or watched more.
