View Full Version : NUMBERS
This is a good game to play if you're trying to fall asleep or at the DMV. I know you love the A to Z game; this is for those of you who like numbers better than letters.
How to play: I'll start. You have to mention a quote from GI that mentions a specific number. If you know the episode, an extra point. Let's see how high up we can go and if we can avoid skipping anyway. I'll start with zero, the next person one, the next two, etc....
"The chances of that are absolutely ZERO" (Professor--"Birds Gotta Fly"--I think that's the episode???)
EvaGrubb 06-17-2009, 02:29 AM Ooh, what a fun game! I was watching a DVD just now, and I just got the next one....... from the episode "Not Guilty."
Skipper (reading from a newspaper): "...All other suspects have been cleared, and it is believed that ONE of the seven persons aboard the missing Minnow is the killer."
callensensei 06-19-2009, 10:05 PM "I, Thurston Howell the Third, can outwit two Russians."
From "Nyet, Nyet, Not Yet"
callensensei 06-22-2009, 11:59 AM "I, Thurston Howell the Third, can outwit two Russians."
From "Nyet, Nyet, Not Yet"
Oh, come on, guys! The little numbers are easy!
"Well, I don't know about a dance, Gilligan. There are only three women and four men. It could cause trouble."
The Skipper, from "X Marks the Spot."
"Five bags"
from "The Big Gold Strike"
callensensei 06-23-2009, 02:07 PM "Poison darts at six paces???"
from "Gilligan's Mother-in-Law"
mrs.gingerhinkley 06-23-2009, 02:55 PM Seven... hmm, that's a tough one. ;)
"...sevenstranded castaways, here on Gilligan's Isle!"
closing theme
callensensei 06-23-2009, 08:23 PM "I saw all eight of them ago about half an hour."
Gilligan, "Topsy Turvy"
Love how Gilligan's syntax goes as haywire as his eyesight!
callensensei 06-29-2009, 12:35 AM "The capsule is set to detonate at nine o'clock."
Splashdown.
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, TEN"
Skipper, "Ghost-a-Go-Go"
EvaGrubb 07-01-2009, 10:03 PM [Talking about their nails]
Ginger: "Since I got here, I broke eleven."
Mary Ann: "Eleven?!"
Ginger: "I broke one twice."
--St Gilligan and the Dragon. :)
callensensei 07-01-2009, 10:25 PM Skipper: But you don't understand! I've been bitten by the dreaded Mantis Carni! I've only got twenty four hours to live!
Gilligan: Oh, Skipper, that's the worst news I ever heard!
Skipper: But Gilligan, you were bitten first yesterday! You've only got twelve hours to live!
Gilligan: Then that's the worst news I ever heard!
from "Gilligan Gets Bugged"
I like this exchange. Gilligan is very practical!
callensensei 07-05-2009, 05:47 PM Gilligan: I've got the winning sweepstakes ticket! G131131!
"The Sweepstakes"
Woo-hoo! Two of 'em!
:happyface
Okay, it's not exactly thirteen. But I get the feeling the writers were a bit superstitious, because I can't find a mention of thirteen anywhere in the series! If anybody can, more power to you!
I don't think the ticket qualifies for 13 since "thirteen" must be vocalized--it's ok though if it's said within another larger number. Witness: for fourteen (I couldn't find 13 either! One extra point for each person who passes him in the sequence if someone finds 13!)
"Now I know why they call you 0 fourteen"
Lovey (in dream) in "The Invasion"
EvaGrubb 07-09-2009, 05:33 PM I was so happy I finally found 14, but you beat me! OK, I just have to share my "14" too, from "The Big Gold Strike":
Ginger: "I was just wondering..."
Mr. Howell: "Everyone's been wondering, and the answer is no."
Ginger: "No?"
Mr. Howell: "That's right; a fourteen-carat no!"
...now on to searching for 15! But I am gonna look for a better 13, too!
callensensei 07-09-2009, 05:51 PM How about sung?
"Fifteen men on a dead man's chest! Yo-ho and a bottle of rum!"
The Skipper (dressed as Little Bo Peep) in Love Me, Love My Skipper.
And good luck with that thirteen! Heh!
"9 over 17"
(Professor in "The Meteor"
"10 (I think) over 18"
Professor ("The Meteor")
"20 years ago tonight, Mr. Howell proposed and I accepted."
Lovey, "The Matchmaker"
"Neither do I and I've been married to one for 22 years."
Thirston in "St. Gilligan and The Dragon"
"It must be a 24 hour bola bola"
Wrongway Feldman, "The Return of WrongWay Feldman"
callensensei 09-05-2009, 10:30 AM "Anyone for twenty-five?"
"Twenty-five!"
The geriatric castaways argue how long they've been on the island in Gilligan's dream in "Meet the Meteor."
This episode provides some fun trivia: it establishes both Mr. Howell and Gilligan's ages as of the end of the second season. Mr. Howell is fifty and Gilligan is twenty-two.
"Please, it's not a day over thirty!"
Ginger, "Meet The Meteor"
"Ive had 34 cups of coconut milk already!"
Skipper, "Goodnight, Sweet Skipper"
callensensei 09-19-2009, 12:21 AM "36, 22, 36!"
The measurements neither the Professor nor the Skipper were thinking about in "Seer Gilligan.";)
callensensei 09-19-2009, 11:11 AM The Skipper - "Give it to me straight, Professor. How much longer have I got to live?"
The Professor - "Well, I'd say you've got about 40 more years."
--The dire prognosis from "Allergy Time."
"I no sleep for 48 hours."
The Japanese Sailor, "So Sorry, My Island Now"
callensensei 09-28-2009, 11:27 PM "40 years, digging in the mountains! 40 years, digging in the hills!"
Howell as the old prospector in "The Sweepstakes."
callensensei 09-28-2009, 11:28 PM "I won't argue the point; I'm a gentleman. But it's 50 years that we've been on this island."
Geriatric Howell in "Meet the Meteor"
callensensei 10-01-2009, 07:04 PM "It's not just any chrysanthemum, my friend. It's a 45 calibre chrysanthemum!"
Wish we could have seen 014's razor-pistol in action.
"The Invasion"
Oops, Cal, you missed one--49:
"49 girls on a yacht and I'm playing Santa Claus!"
Thirston, "Will The Real Mr. Howell Please Stand Up"
Your penalty will be spending the whole day figuring out which is the real Mr. Howell.
I actually messed one up, too. I missed 45--so it's only fair to give me a penalty too!
callensensei 10-07-2009, 09:14 PM You got me there!
So now we're up to fifty. Hmmm...does this count?
"This case must have been floating around in the Pacific for over 50 years."
Okay, I know it's sorta cheating...:p
"Army beat them 51 to 7"
Gilligan, "Ship Ahoax"
(I'm not sure if this is the exact quote--hopefully the number is right--boy, I'm glad I'm not on "Millionaire" right now--or, if I were--I guess I'd call one of you)
"West 52nd Street"
Lovey, "The Matchmaker"
"And what number comes after 62?"
Skipper, "You've Been Disconnected"
"Nothing's gonna make me swim around the bottom of the lagoon 63 times"
(I forget the exact quote)
Gilligan, "You've Been Disconnected"
"And 64 bottles of scotch."
Wrongway Feldman, "The Return of Wrongway Feldman"
P.S. As Gilligan said, "Won't anyone play with me?" I'm playing this whole game by myself now.
"I don't look bad for a man of 72."
Gilligan, "Meet The Meteor"
callensensei 01-21-2010, 08:17 PM "70/30 - I won't let you take a penny less!"
Mr. Howell to Gilligan in "Seer Gilligan." (I think!!!)
Sorry, Im! I haven't got a good memory for numbers.
callensensei 01-30-2010, 08:32 AM The Robot: "It {building the bridge to Hawaii} will take approximately 89 years."
Mrs. Howell: "Eighty-Nine years! Thurston, do you realize how old I'll be?"
Mr. Howell: "Yes, you'll be a little old to walk to Hawaii."
from Gilligan's Living Doll
callensensei 01-30-2010, 08:34 AM Mr. Howell: "Ninety pounds?"
from The Jungle Boy
callensensei 01-30-2010, 08:36 AM Cave-man Skipper: "How long Chief Howell keep us in cave?"
Cave-man Gilligan: "He say one hundred years, or until we die - whichever comes first!"
from The Secret of Gilligan's Island
callensensei 01-30-2010, 11:20 AM Gilligan: "Ninety-seven, ninety-eight, ninety-nine...ninety-nine leaks! Oh, well. It could be worse; it could be one hundred!"
Leak: "Hiss!"
Gilligan: "One hundred...one hundred and one..."
from Operation Steam Heat
callensensei 01-30-2010, 11:22 AM Gilligan: "Skipper, what do you need a scarf for?"
Skipper: "I'm cold."
Gilligan: "It must be ninety to one hundred and ten in here!"
from Up at Bat
(I always wondered why the Skipper had a scarf in the tropics in the first place!)
Thanks for playing, Cal! Sorry to say, you missed 75--in "The Kidnapper," Wiley says, (I think)--"If she's worth 50 grand, you're worth at least 75!"
(You're penalty is to dance with Wiley--don't wear any jewelry!) I'll need some time to think of whether any more were missed--you did so many, going all the way to 100! It's great to see someone playing again--now it will really get hard since we've passed 100!
Hey, Cal--where's my penalty for missing 70? Don't worry, I'll be brave--it should relate to the episode in which I missed it.
callensensei 01-31-2010, 12:18 AM Hey, Cal--where's my penalty for missing 70? Don't worry, I'll be brave--it should relate to the episode in which I missed it.
Hmmm...well, since it was from Seer Gilligan, perhaps you should dig a drainage ditch, fetch some well water, fix the huts, gather firewood, and then after breakfast...
Boy, when the Skipper noted that Gilligan does a lot of work around the island, he wasn't kidding!
callensensei 01-31-2010, 12:23 AM Prospector Howell: 40 years digging in the mountains, 40 years digging in the hills, forty years panning in the streams! You know what that makes?
Professor Assayer: That's 120 years.
from The Sweepstakes
callensensei 02-04-2010, 11:36 PM "One hundred and twenty five!"
Ginger's bid for Kalani's maid services in "Slave Girl."
I always wondered why Ginger, trying to convince Kalani to come and work for her, strikes up a sexy pose. She thinks this is going to impress Kalani?
"!50!"
Maryann, "Slave Girl" (I think she said this)
P.S. Cal: as for the sexy pose, I think that was just her going into the "I'm such a famous sexy talented actress" zone--but, yes, it is kind of funny.
callensensei 02-08-2010, 11:10 PM Skipper: Did he say 140 degrees latitude and 10 degrees longitude?
The radio announcer and the Skipper both get their coordinates backwards in X Marks the Spot: either that or the island is located somewhere near the North Pole.
"It says here I should way exactly 199 pounds." (not sure if that's the exact quote)
Skipper, "Physical Fatness"
P.S. You're probably right about the 140--sounds familiar--ok,what's my penalty? Hopefully not a live missile coming toward me!
"It says here I should weigh exactly 199 pounds." (not sure if that's the exact quote)
Skipper, "Physical Fatness"
P.S. You're probably right about the 140--sounds familiar--ok,what's my penalty? Hopefully not a live missile coming toward me!
"221 pounds!"
Gilligan, "Physical Fatness"
"One kettle of fish, 300 dollars."
Ginger, "The Big Gold Strike"
"But one of those bags is worth 400 dollars!"(I think)
Thirston, "The Big Gold Strike"
"Ginger, I'll give you 500 dollars for your olive."
Thirston, "The Sound of Quacking"
"Well, if 600 dollars is all you can spend, take only 3 candles."
The Professor, "The Big Gold Strike"
"Imagine, 1000 dollars for an olive!"
Maryann, "The Sound of Quacking"
"2000 pounds!"
Skipper, "Gilligan's Living Doll"
"You had 3000 dollars worth last night!"
Skipper, "The Big Gold Strike"
"5,000 dollars for (talking about the carrot plants..."
Maryann, "They're Off and Running"
"You only asked 10,000 for me!"
Lovey, "The Kidnapper"
"20,000 dollars, Lovey, right down the drain [or something like that]!"
Thurston, "The Kidnapper"
"30,000 dollars is a lot of money...but it is Ginger."
Maryann, "The Kidnapper"
"Her husband paid 50,000 dollars for her..."
Wiley, "The Kidnapper"
"Thurston, can we give Mr. Wiley another $65,000?"
Lovey, "The Kidnapper"
"You know her husband paid 75,000 dollars for her."
Wiley, "The Kidnapper"
"That's 100,000 a piece."
Ginger, "The Big Gold Strike"
"200,000."
Thurston, "The Hunter"
"300,000."
Thurston, "The Hunter"
"Half a million."
Thurston, "Plant You Now, Dig You Later"
"I'm only a one million millionaire."
Gilligan, "The Sweepstakes"
"Two million. I like to dream in round numbers." (I think???)
Thurston, (I forget the episode--it's one of 3)
"Have you ever had three million dollars before?"
Thurston, "Three Million Dollars More or Less"
"Six million dollars if I can sink this put."
Gilligan, "Three Million Dollars More or Less"
"Make it 10 billion."
Thurston, "Three to Get Ready"
"I wish for 20 billion dollars in the giant economy-sized package."
Thurston, "Three to Get Ready"
Thank you to all of you who have played---I know we missed some numbers
here and there--like how many mangos they owe each other from playing gin.
I can't think of any more beyond 20 billion, though. I think we've reached the end....
