McGillicuddy 06-15-2009, 12:36 PM In honor of the upcoming release of The Patty Duke Show, how many TV show characters had a double show up at one time or another (or an actor that played a dual role)

catlover79 06-15-2009, 03:53 PM Two from Knots Landing:
Ciji Dunne and Cathy Rush (Lisa Hartman)
Mary Frances Sumner and Kate Whittaker (Stacy Galina)
Peter Brady and the fellow student that looked just like him (Brady Bunch)
comedyfreak 06-15-2009, 04:39 PM Michelle on Full House had a look a like cousin from Italy played by her real life twin.
The same for Tabitha on Bewitched her twin sister was a guest with dark hair at her bday party when Uncle Arthur turned a rabbitt into a lady.
Lost In Space-Dr Smith had a look a like named Zeno. There were several other eps in which they had doubles of themselves.
Retro4Life 06-15-2009, 06:50 PM Bender from "Futurama" had "Flexo". ;)
The entire crew of the Enterprise had doubles in a "mirror" universe.
Didn't Robert Reed and Florence Henderson actually play their own grandparents (???) during an episode of The Brady Bunch?
I know there were two episodes of The X-Files were someone either switched minds with Mulder or had an ability to morph into his form.

On Dynasty, Krystle was kidnapped and a lookalike imposter named Rita took her place. Both roles, of course, were played by Linda Evans.
Dusty's Fan 06-16-2009, 09:18 PM My Three Sons -- Robbie's identical double showed up (played by Don Grady, except the double's voice was supplied by Mike Minor).
My Three Sons -- Fred MacMurray played both Steve Douglas and Cousin Fergus (voice dubbed). Both in b/w and returning in the very late color eps.
The Rifleman -- Lucas McCain and Micah Torrence each had a double show up (played by Chuck Connors and Paul Fix).
Bonanza -- The Slade Brothers were doubles for Hoss and Little Joe (played by Dan Blocker and Michael Landon) in "The Gunmen." Funny episode!
andress_jade 06-16-2009, 10:37 PM I noticed that nobody mentioned Herman and his brother. I think it was his brother. It might of been his uncle. Anyway, he was identical to Herman and was also played by Fred Gwynne. He was a bad guy.
bmasters9 06-17-2009, 05:15 AM On Dynasty, Krystle was kidnapped and a lookalike imposter named Rita took her place. Both roles, of course, were played by Linda Evans.
I remember that one, too.
Schmoopie 06-17-2009, 05:34 AM This may not count, but in the final episode of Full House, Michelle gets her memory back (after having amnesia) and she is talking to her 'other self' asking where she's been. There were a couple of other Full House episodes where there were two Michelle's. I think one was when the Olson's were babies. Jessie was hallucinating and thought he saw two Michelle's.
Oh and Dylan and Blake Tuomy-Wilhoit. were Nicky and Alex (Rebecca and Jessie's twins).
Thanks for the info about the Patty Duke release! I love that show and may consider buying it. I haven't seen it in years!
Dusty's Fan 06-17-2009, 09:23 AM Also -- Laverne & Shirley. Shirley met her identical double (Cindy Williams).

tv star collector 06-17-2009, 12:42 PM I noticed that nobody mentioned Herman and his brother. I think it was his brother. It might of been his uncle. Anyway, he was identical to Herman and was also played by Fred Gwynne. He was a bad guy.
The ninth episode, "Knock Wood, Here Comes Charlie" (first aired Nov. 19,
1964) introduced Herman's twin brother, a con artist (also played by Fred
Gwynne). His latest scam was to try to sell the family a new invention that

episode "Broken Image" (first aired Jan. 4, 1980), in which his double was a gangster.

PhoenixAcres 04-25-2017, 01:31 PM In Get Smart there was a king of a foreign nation who looked just like Max. He appeared in at least two episodes.

stevea 04-25-2017, 05:56 PM In the original Star Trek there was an evil version of Captain Kirk.
Yes, they were in a parallel universe. There was also an evil version of Mr. Spock and Sulu, and they were a bunch of cutthroats. There may have been others...
Not quite this category, but there was also an episode (the final episode) when an evil female scientist put her being into Kirk, and vice versa. So Shatner played the part as effeminate.
On hawaii five-0 McGarrett had an evil double in the 4th season, hired by Wo Fat.
On McMillan and Wife, Mac had a double who was a crook, he showed up twice
On Get Smart, season 3 ep the 'spy who meant himself" showed Max had an evil double, Also in season 5, 99 had a double. Also the Chef had a double I think it was season 2
On I dream of Jeannie, Jeannie had an evil twin, and Tony also had a lookalike who was a Russian spy
On the Wild Wild West, Artie had a double once
On Dark Shadows there was a parallel time band where everyone had a double. This might not count but almost every actor on the show played different roles in different time periods.
Seems like most examples comes from the 60s, it most have been a popular plot device
Retro4Life 04-26-2017, 04:07 PM Mark Harris from "Man from Atlantis" (Patrick Duffy) had a lookalike in one episode. (how's THAT for obscure??)
Torgo 04-26-2017, 11:34 PM Red Dwarf- In one episode they had identical triples: The Red Dwarf gang met both their evil, and pure dopplegangers.
Dave Lister met himself when traveling to the past in Time Slides.
In The Inquisitor the gang when individually confronted by the title character of that episode he appeared to them as themselves.
I know there were others, but I can't think of them.
Sliders Traveling to parallel earths the sliders met duplicates of themselves, and family members/friends often.
treky 04-27-2017, 12:21 AM Yes, they were in a parallel universe. There was also an evil version of Mr. Spock and Sulu, and they were a bunch of cutthroats. There may have been others...
Not quite this category, but there was also an episode (the final episode) when an evil female scientist put her being into Kirk, and vice versa. So Shatner played the part as effeminate.
there was also an episode where Kirk was split in two because of a transporter malfunction.
on the man from uncle, Napoleon had a double in the 'the double affair' and redone as a movie called 'spy with my face'
ansara1 04-27-2017, 01:12 PM On The Bionic Woman, Jaime Sommers had a twin named Lisa Galloway. She had plastic surgery to look like Jaime and first appeared in season one. She was in season two in a two-part episode that won Lindsay Wagner an Emmy. The episodes were "Deadly Ringer" Parts I & II. Oscar Goldman had a robot double during the three-part "Kill Oscar" episodes with the fembots. His secretary, Peggy Callahan, had a fembot double as did Rudy's secretary, Linda.
Wonder Woman had a double a few times as well - on one occasion Diana Prince came face to face with the Wonder Woman double.
Someone mentioned Herman's brother, Charlie, on The Munsters. There was also another episode where was another "monster" created that looked just like Herman. He didn't speak but only grunted and made sounds. Lily mistook him for Herman.
Near the end of the run of ALL My Children, Erica Kane had a double. Much earlier, Tad Martin had a double, as did Adam Chandler (mentioned earlier by another poster), and Natalie, who was on the show in the 80's and 90's.
On One Life To Live, Vicki had multiple personalities and sometimes showed as Niki. Another instance where playing a dual role won an actress an Emmy.
