If you had your own personal television hall of fame, what would the enshrinements consist of in terms of the categories of characters, openings, theme music, settings, etc.?

Here are some of mine:

For characters, Jonathan and Jennifer Hart from "Hart to Hart." The Harts punched their tickets a long time ago because, to me, it is very refreshing to see a married couple so obviously in love who keep it alive by solving murders and other assorted mysteries. Their houseman, chauffeur, and all-around jack-of-all-trades, Max, and their dog, Freeway, have also punched their tickets for their parts in the show.

Also included: Steve McGarrett and his team from "Hawaii Five-O," Judge Milton Hardcastle and Mark McCormick from "Hardcastle and McCormick," and Mary Richards, Rhoda Morgenstern, etc. from "Mary Tyler Moore."

Openings: "Hawaii Five-O" (the wave), "Hart to Hart" ("This is my boss, Jonathan Hart..."), "Mary Tyler Moore" (Mary tossing her hat up into the air), "Dallas," "What's Happening!!," "Trapper John, M.D.", etc.

Theme music: "Five-O" (Morton Stevens), "Hart to Hart" (Mark Snow), "Mary Tyler Moore" (Sonny Curtis), "Dallas" (Jerrold Immel), "What's Happening!!" (Henry Mancini), "Trapper John, M.D." (John Parker)

Settings: Iolani Palace ("Five-O"), the Hart house ("Hart to Hart"), WJM Minneapolis ("Mary Tyler Moore"), Hill Street Station ("Hill Street Blues"),
Gulls Way ("Hardcastle and McCormick"), Southfork ("Dallas"), St. Eligius ("St. Elsewhere"), etc.

Note that your personal hall of fame can also include TV Guides, lunchboxes, and other memorabilia from the series in question. Also, this is a subjective question, meaning of course that you may like different things than I do.

I wish I could reply but there are too many great shows, openings, theme music from the 1950s-70s to make a list

In the category of unique shows, I would definitely add "Seinfeld" (for being a show that many can relate to), and "Monk" (for being the most brilliant detective shows I've ever seen. Not only is he a master at sleuthing, but he also has a world of other quirks and problems.

This is a good thread but I am going to have to take some time on this because there are so many topics and choices I would have to include.

Here is mine

For characters i'd add Carolee Simpson Aldrich, R. N. from The Doctors(soap) and also Dr. Maggie Hansen Powers from the same show. And of course since i've mentioned Carolee, then i should have to mention First Lieutenant (later Captain) Colleen McMurphy from China Beach.

Theme music: The Doctors(the pop flavored arrangement of the Bob Israel 1971 theme, with a melody carried by vibes and electric harpsichord), China Beach( "Reflections" by Diana Ross & the Supremes).

And for settings, Hope Memorial Hospital, the Jet Set and the China Beach hospital too.

for announcers don pardo and johnny olsen would be in my tv hall of fame throw in ernie anderson too

excuse me, if you are going to talk about johnny olsen and don pardo, what about mel brandt, known for saying "the doctors will return in just a moment!" or "the following program is brought to you in living color on nbc!" bill wolff would be another one, for his another world work...and rod roddy, who followed johnny o on price is right....

and of course, we cant leave out jay stewart on lets make a deal or jack clark on wheel of fortune or gene wood on family feud and concentration. not to mention wayne howell, who preceded gene on concentration...and wayne howell was the announcer for the miss america pagent too. johnny jacobs for the jokers wild and dating game too.

several soap opera announcers fit this too...cbs had a few good ones, like ken roberts, alan berns, dan mccullough, harry kramer, hal simms, bern bennett, and dan region.

Openings: The Doctors ( Young and the Restless-influenced head drawings of each of the cast principals that would be arranged in a circle that represented an "O" in the word "doctors"), Life Goes On, China Beach, Another World, especially when Bill Wolff says "We do not live in this world alone, but in a thousand other worlds" , American Gladiators (loved the montage and Mike Adamle and whichever co-host's chat in the beginning of the episode at the beginning and when they introduced each gladiator individually before the opening chat.)

Theme music: "The Doctors Theme"(both original and the 1977 version, with vibes and electric harpsichord) "Another World Theme"/"(You Take Me Away to) Another World" (the latter sung by Crystal Gayle and Gary Morris) "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da"(theme for Life Goes On, sung by Patti LuPone and the cast) "Reflections"(theme for China Beach, sung by Diana Ross) and the original American Gladiators theme too.
