Rumor has it that Mike Brown, coach of the Cavaliers may be fired!

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Cavaliers say there is no truth to rumors that NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown's job is in jeopardy.

An article published on the Internet Web site Pro Baketball News cites sources within the Cavaliers front office as being "in disarray" over the outcome of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The article, written by Cleveland-area sportswriter Sam Amico, says unnamed sources within the Cavaliers front office are furious that Brown was out coached by Orlando's Stan Van Gundy in spite of the Cavs having the best regular season record in the NBA and players like LeBron James and Mo Williams.

Amico does not name his sources, but he does say Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert is among those who believe the team needs a new head coach, adding the Cavaliers may have interest in Pat Riley, currently the president of the Miami Heat.

Fox 8 News has been unable to reach Amico for comment on the column, but Cavaliers spokesman Tad Carper calls it "totally inaccurate."

"There will be all sorts of player movement and trades, and we can't get into every public comment or response to any deal out there," Carper says.

Predictably, however, representatives of the team were busy fielding calls on Thursday about the rumor, with Carper placing emphasis on the word "totally" inaccurate.

For fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers, this year's loss in the playoffs is disappointing. With a home-court advantage and sweeps of Detroit and Atlanta in the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs, many here expected the team to be in the NBA Finals.

The Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Lakers both gave Cleveland fits during the regular season. In the Eastern Conference Finals, the Cavaliers appeared not to have a defensive answer to the outside shooting of the Magic.

Of the two games won by the Cavaliers, the team claimed a one-point victory in Game 3 only after a sensational LeBron James three-pointer at the buzzer.

And while Amico quotes unnamed sources within the organization as calling Mike Brown's coaching in the Orlando series as "junk," the team is not dignifying that quote, calling reports that Mike Brown will return next year for a fifth season with the backing of the team's front office more accurate.

"He continues to have the backing of ownership and of the front office unilaterally," Carper stressed.

issahthomas, Monika, do you think this WILL help the Cavs? Letting go of Mike Brown and getting Pat Riley?

Dude, he's not going anywhere.

For a so-called Cleveland fan, you're never positive.

I'm NOT a Cleveland Fan, and Clevelanders ARE supposed to be negative! We drink Lake Erie Water, Mexico has better water than Lake Erie.

Great Job, Pen-goo-ins!

Well...be glad that the Phillies won!

You're on my 'Ignore' list again....And would you be proud that I would be barred from the sports section on this site?

Besides...Mike Brown may not be going anywhere...yet. This is as real as a $3!

Also...you spelled 'Cleveland' wrong!

LOL@MrCleveland is annoying Solomon hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. MrCleveland is a funny guy. I think the Cavs should fire Mike Brown. He's a terrible coach. Only reason why he won coach of the year is because Lebron made him look good.

You know I don't hate Solomon. I just wish he could see that Philly has 4 Major Sports Teams and the Phillies won last year.

I haven't seen any dramatic losses from Philadelphia...as far as I know.

I'm not a basketball (in any pro, college, gym class  ) but I think that's pretty callous to be named Coach of the Year then fired.
