They were showing musicals on TCM, and I was wondering if you had to pick between Astaire or Kelly who would you choose? My vote is for Gene Kelly. I like Fred Astaire, but I think that Gene Kelly was one of the most adorable things to ever grace the silver screen.

I'd probably pick Gene Kelly too. I love "Singin in the Rain". I also love his duet dance with Jerry the Mouse in "Anchors Aweigh".

I'd probably go with Fred Astaire. His movies with Ginger Rogers were classics. Gene Kelly did star in one of my favorite musicals though, "Singing in the Rain."

I'd go with Fred Astaire, mainly because I like his movies more. My favorite is Funny Face with Audrey Hepburn.

Fred. I'll give you some info on Singin' in the Rain, Gene Kelly was a buttwipe to Debbie Reynolds. He would always make fun of her dancing and he would ask her why she was even cast in the film. Fred happened to be on the set and saw Debbie crying because she thought she would never learn. Fred stepped up to the plate and helped her learn her dance moves.
That's why I pick Fred, he obviously had talent but he was compassionate and kind person as well.

I can't decide!! Both were masters of their craft.

All this is true, but Gene acknowledged this himself and apologized to Debbie both personally and professionally. She forgave him.
I pick Gene because he was so handsome and charming. He had his bad days, sure, but overall he was a very descent guy. He took wonderful care of Judy Garland when she was going through all sorts of problems. They are my favorite screen couple of all time.

Well, at least he was man enough to own up to his actions. I shouldn't be so hard on him. I give him props for performing the rain dance with a 103 degree fever, though.
