Have you ever started out liking or disliking a person you know and, over time, changing your opinion of them? So either going from liking them to disliking them or going from disliking them to liking them.

I can't say it's really happened with me, but a couple of friends of mine from school, used to not get along very well. They were part of the same group of friends so they saw quite a lot of each other but they used to get on each other's nerves. I don't think either of them purposely tried to annoy the other, it was just one of those things where they just both didn't get along very well. This would be from about 2004-2006.

Now they're in a relationship and have been together since last September. Things seem to be going well. I hope it lasts.

Its happend to me both ways. The most recent was a few years ago with this friend of mine. He didnt like some of the people I was friends with and was constantly hassling me about it. I got so fed up with him that I ended our friendship. There were other reasons why I ended the friendship but that issue I mentioned above was the last straw. It makes no difference to me whom my friends are friends with.

I met this one guy in high school who used to annoy the heck out of me. I couldn't stand him. But we got past it and became friends. The funny thing is that years later I would end up working with his mom!!

I said that it had never really happened with me but thinking about it, it has. There's an online friend (but we're not friends at the moment and haven't been for quite some time) who I first "met" online in late 2004. We got on really well until late 2006 or so when we had a few arguments, but I still liked him and he still seemed to like me.

At the beginning of 2007 there was a big bust-up but it ended up getting smoothed over after a few weeks, he apologised to me and we were good friends for the next few months. There was a small disagreement in the summer of 2007. From then on until late 2008 we generally got on well, although we had some conflicts during that time. For the last few months he has been very nasty to me, so we're certainly not friends right now.

I've liked, then disliked, then liked, then disliked again, and this just one person.

Yes. This girl named Chrissy. She and I have been friends for years. Recently it's really bothered me the way she has treated me and taken my friendship for granted. First ditching me because of her pregnancy then changing her mind. That was last year. Then this year inviting me to her son's first birthday, then uninviting me. Then inviting me. There's still a few days until the party. We'll see how many more times that will go on, lol.

My boss.

Some days I like him, some days I don't. Today was one of those days I didn't like him!

Iv'e had people do this to me, and I've done it to others. The people I did it too were just casual friends to begin with, and I noticed that we really only spoke once a month, and all our conversations were pretty much the same. I've also had others that became too clingy, and in some ways even went crazy on me in some way or another, and so I quickly took them off my friend list. I hang onto close friends tightly since they're so rare, but with some casual friends, and friends who get too attached, I usually don't feel too guilty about getting rid of them. The time I waste on them, I could be spending with friends who would literally die for me.

Just for the record, I have many casual friends that I fully anticipate staying friends with. The casual friends I've dumped that I'm referring to, are people who I just never really clicked with for one reason or another. I love having good casual friends though, I just want to make that clear.

I've had this happen to me too. One girl I became friends with at work, then the more I got to know her, I found her to be an immature, self-centered person.

I have started out disliking someone, then I start to like them, thinking I was wrong about my assessment of them, then I find out I was initially right that they were an a-hole all along lol

Of course. Sometimes you change your mind on people both ways.

I had a friend that used to double date with another friend. He thought his friend's girlfriend was very annoying, but he didn't want to insult his friend so he didn't say anything. Eventually he got fed up with her and asked his friend not to bring her along anymore, so his friend stopped bringing her. Some months later, for whatever reason, my friend changed his mind about her. They've been married for 30+ years.
