View Full Version : Ricky Sings Again/Songs By Ricky
Dan Tullis 06-08-2009, 07:09 PM I went to a record show yesterday, got two extended play 45's by Ricky (with cardboard picture sleeves), "Old Enough to Love" and "One Minute to One". $35 for the pair - yes these old records are pretty valuable, but I'm trying to collect Rick's records. I have most of the standard 45 and album releases, but the e.p.'s were so pricey I passed on them before. My uncle has a few of them, along with a LOT of Elvis singles, e.p.'s and albums. He kept his records in excellent shape, too, unlike most first generation fans. I saw the "Ricky Sings Spirituals" e.p. priced at $50, but I'll wait for a better deal on that one.

Played it till it was worn and grey - but I made it up to her years later, bought her a new copy, a reissue from France. Now I have the cd's as well, but there is still something special about those old records.

Does anyone still have their 8-track copy of "Garden Party"?

No, but I used to have a Columbia House Record Club (remember that?) cassette of "Legendary Masters Series # 2: Ricky Nelson," which was a great double-album compilation of his Imperial recordings. I still do have a lot of Rick's records on vinyl, though I too have gone the CD route.
But I have yet to meet anybody who has the album that Ozzie and Harriet made for Imperial in 1957!

I saw that Ozzie and Harriet record once at this record store here that is now closed. I didnt ask because the owner was like the Jack Black character in High Fidelity, only worse. I figure he would charge me some ridiculous price or not sell it to me, so I didnt bother.
Dan Tullis 06-11-2009, 01:52 PM I saw that album once years ago, but wasn't that interested. I'm more interested now that I've seen them sing a few of those songs on the show. Is 'I Still Get A Thrill" on that album?

It is. The LP is actually available on ebay right now, but at about $70--a bit rich for my blood, especially since I no longer have a turntable to play it on. (You'd think one of those reissue labels would put it out on CD!)
Dan Tullis 06-12-2009, 06:58 PM I'd fork over $15 or $20 for it, but it's more of an interesting novelty for me than a record I'd play a lot. Sorry Ozzie, but Rick was the real singer in the family:crazy:
