He is rather like Vitto Scotti's Boris Balinkoff and Japanese Sailor: over-the-top and silly as opposed to truly menacing.

I wondered about Lovey's outfit as well. The whole effect is rather Leprechanish. Was there a scene with her that was left out that might have explained her strange attire?

This scene disturbs me as well. I don't find the subject matter or the castaways' dithering funny at all.

Do you think the character of Gilligan the Dictator in Gilligan's dream was modeled on Juan Peron of Argentina? I wonder whether the stock footage of the cheering crowds in front of the palace are actually Peron's supporters.

Apparently, this was Sherwood Schwartz' favourite episode. I find that any of the episodes where the castaways play-act at creating institutions generally gets a little too high-handed.
