POP'S RANT AGAINST MODERN ROCKIGGY POP has blasted the state of modern rock music, blaming SMASHING PUMPKINS and LIMP BIZKIT for lowering standards.
The Lust for Life hitmaker started a backlash against the genre on his website by branding certain groups "idiot thugs with guitars making crappy music".
And the singer has now revealed during a video announcement for his new album, Preliminaires, that he was referring to Fred Durst's recently reformed group and the Smashing Pumpkins.
He says, "Anyone from Smashing Pumpkins to - what's the one with Fred Durst?... There are a million billion of them. And people
think they're gods, man."
And the star also takes a swipe at intellectual rockers, adding, "I took great pains not to think first because the thing I can't stand is a rock star who thinks he's got brains. They're always so damned dull!"

I am no fan of Iggy Pop but I totally agree with him 100%

Iggy has hit the nail on the head about Smashing Pumpkins and Limp Bizkit.
Billy Corgan is just a whiner :crybaby: and Fred Durst is a wannabe white gangster who's outlived his usefulness. Hard to believe that both these bands are back and think they're still "relevant". ohno:

I agree with Iggy about Fred Durst contributing to ruining rock, but the Smashing Pumpkins, thugs?? :confused: Where the heck did he get that from? I've never seen, or heard of the Smashing Pumpkins doing anything thuggish. Billy Corgan's no tough guy, and literally probably couldn't even hurt a fly. lol!! Seriously, when I think of the word thug, the Smashing Pumpkin's are the last thing to enter my mind. Ha ha ha ha!! What I really don't get, is why Iggy singled out these guys as the ruin of rock music? I agree that most current rock sucks, but there are many artists and bands that came out far before The Pumpkins and Durst who deserve much more of the blame for the ruination of rock music. I just don't get what it was about The Pumpkin's, and Durst that he has such a problem with?? And by the way, The Smashing Pumpkins were an amazing group in their prime IMO. They made some of the most amazing videos ever, and had great songs, and Corgan had a great, and unique voice. How Iggy can deny their talents is beyond me.

I respect everyone's opinion, but I truly don't get how Iggy can say that the Pumpkin's are talentless?? Can you honestly listen to songs like this, and claim this group has no talent?? This is great music, and the soundtrack of my life. This is better than anything I've ever heard from Iggy pop.
