Two full houses are better than one!

Former sitcom star John Stamos confesses that he’s conceptualizing a “Full House” feature film. “I’m working on a movie idea, but it wouldn’t be us playing us,” he told us. “I’m not 100% sure, but it would probably take place in the first few years” of the 1987-95 series.

The former “ER” doc votes for James Franco to reprise Stamos’ role as Jesse Katsopolis. “I see Steve Carell as [Bob Saget’s character] Danny Tanner and Tracy Morgan as [Dave Coulier’s] Joey Gladstone because he’s funny,” he added.

Stamos, the spokesman for Project Cuddle (a charity that helps prevent infants from being abandoned), dashed hopes of a “Full House” TV reunion, as well. “I don’t see it happening anytime soon,” he said.

At least the actor stays tight with his former co-stars (above). “We’re all very close,” he confided. “I saw Ashley [Olsen] a couple weeks ago. Bob and Dave I see a lot.”

Apparently, Uncle Jesse misses having a Full House!

I just don't think this is a good idea.

It worked for the Brady Bunch. However most other sitcoms that have been turned into movies have been disasters!

I think it would be a better idea if the original cast participated in a made-for-tv reunion movie.

Okay, now this is really weird, because I read that he didn't even like being on that show. Now he wants to do a Full House movie? To quote Stephanie Tanner, "How Rude!"

In the unlikely event that it does happen, here's what I'd like to see...

1. Keep it clean. That's one of the things that made many fans enjoy the show, and a show so often mocked cannot afford to lose those fans.* Besides (and remember, I say this as a fan of the show), a cheesy dirty joke is just as cheesy as a cheesy clean joke, IMO.

2. Write a strong storyline first,** before worrying about where to put all the "inside" stuff for the fans. I'm not saying don't throw the fans a bone every now and then, but throw only the bones that fit where you're throwing them.

3. Know who your characters are. Write for them, and cast for them.

4. After making sure the actors fit the parts, rewrite to fit your actors' strong suits. The new Joey's comic style may be different from Dave Coulier's (but remember Rule #1); and the new Jesse's music style may be different from John Stamos'.

5. Get the set details right. The demands of realism being different from the demands of a studio audience, I would accept some differences in the layout of the house, but the furniture, walls, and floors better look right (for example, I don't want to suddenly see a red brick fireplace in the living room).

*Of course, you could go the Brady Bunch route and mock the show along with them...
**to my mind, one of the strongest arcs in the TV show is the transformation in Jesse's character. At the beginning, he's a rebel, with a different woman on his arm every week; later, he's found a family (Danny and the girls), a friend (Joey), and a steady girlfriend (later wife, Becky).

I don't know. It was a cute show in all, but I don't think I could handle two hours of it. Besides, I don't think any one in hollywood could handle a movie with out putting something dirty into it.

Excellent points! As much as I hate this fad of turning TV shows into movies, I hate it even more when these filmmakers turn the original TV show into a bunch of garbage by adding the swearing, nudity and other disgusting traits that are so common in movies today.

I think they should get actors that fit the personalities of the original characters, as you mentioned before. But even people who somewhat resemble Stamos, Coulier, and Sagat would be acceptable. It makes the film more believable.

Yeah, I agree, casting is going to be key. I just wonder who they could get to play Joey. I mean, I know no one could ever duplicate Dave Coulier, but they need to get somebody who can at least do a couple cartoon voices. The fans are going to expect that.

Good thinking! I have nothing against Tracy Morgan and I'm sure he's funny but I'm sorry... he looks nothing like Dave Coulier!:p That's pretty obvious! But I could see Steve Carrell as Danny. Julia Roberts could play Becky or one of Jessie's girlfriends. That would be hilarious to watch! :lol:

The thing that was cool about the Brady Bunch movie was that they had actors that really resembled the characters on the show. The most hilarious part of the original movie was when Marcia invited Davy Jones to sing at the prom and all those teachers were just hounding him when he was on stage singing. All the kids were like :confused: "Who in the heck is that?":brent

It might be too early to ask at this point but do you think they will be doing something similar to The Brady Bunch motion pictures where the film spoofs the campy tone of the show?

I want it to sort of make fun of the show in a respectful way where it's like appreciative of the show by mocking it sort of thing.

I agree with whoever mentioned Steve Carell, that's good casting. I think the idea of Tracy Morgan, although nothing like Coulier would be hilarious just because of it.

Well, first, the writers are to blame, as I show here, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5099502/1/Same_Place_New_Faces they could have worked around Jesse's, D.J., and Kimmy's (actresses in college) absences easily (he need not be in the one small scene); I've got another almost ready, a Thanksgiving one where you'll notice someone else is also missing (Michelle), though you'd think all were there the way they talked, though there's no Jesse, D.J., Kimmy, or Michelle. I think they just didn't want to work around his absence because they were worried about ratngs if he left. He wasn't the only one who would be gone.

Second, producing is not equal to acting in it. it sounds like he wants to do a clean one, though we should also write letters encouraging (insisting?) it remain clean.

Third, this is a decent idea, but "set during the first few years of the show?" Uh, I don't know what John Stamos' thinking is here, but you've got all sorts of worries when it comes to canon if you do that. Not that it *can't* be done, but it takes times. Although, maybe Jesse's going to admit to someone we dont' see that he's been lying about his graduating high school. :) Hey, that'd be throwing a bone to fans, all right.

Fourth, somethingofafan's rules are excellent. I also agree with whomever said the best arc was Jesse's transformation.

Finally, I would not mind a little angst if done right, for some drama. I have always argued that Danny was hiding depression over Pam's death through his constant cleaning. Rather than prattle on about that, I will just say this: If they can keep within canon and show D.J. doing thigns int he background, that could give a nice bit of characterization that allows it to be campy, yet it's not all cheese, either, but some real meat. They could still keep the fans, and maybe draw a few new ones who are willing to come to see some interest, but not too angsty, character development.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with him to encourage him in this and to push for them to keep it clean?

i just have a feeling that i'll be laughing!
