View Full Version : Site is not functioning clj2 06-04-2009, 08:04 PM I have noticed that SitcomsOnline.com, especially the boards, are down multiple times a day. I get an error message sometimes but mostly it's just offline. Slow a lot. What's up? JulieSomoski 06-04-2009, 10:24 PM Every night, around the same time (11:30-midnight) I can't get onto the site. A message keeps appearing that says the site is "broken" and it won't allow me on. So, I just shut it off, and when I come back on the next day it's all working again. It's kind of getting annoying, though. it's also happened to me throughout the day on some occasions, and I can't explain why. Marvo301 06-04-2009, 11:03 PM Earlier today I got a message there was a database error. So I shut off the computer and did other things for a while. I came back later and now it is working fine. catlover79 06-04-2009, 11:12 PM I've had the same problems the last few days. GRRR... TJ 06-04-2009, 11:49 PM There have been a few problems the last few days with a very high server load. When the server has to be rebooted, it's going to be offline for 3-4 minutes (sometimes more). We're working on addressing the issues to prevent any lenghty downtime. Sorry for the inconvenience. catlover79 06-05-2009, 08:18 AM There have been a few problems the last few days with a very high server load. Thanks for the headsup, TJ. clj2 06-05-2009, 02:00 PM Oh, OK. Thanks. Schmoopie 06-07-2009, 06:56 AM Thanks for the info, TJ. I've had that problem with the site too, but if I get the error message, I just go on to something else and come back to the site later. mccavitt 06-18-2009, 04:21 AM It is hard to believe that so many talented people are speaking and writing incorrect English and even correct those of us who speak it correctly. You wrote: "written by my husband and I," whereas it should read written by my husband and me". If you take out the word husband, you are left with "written by I," which you see is incorrect. Other than that, i'm on Helium too, a great spot for airing your views. Will look for you (and him, not he, your husband) on there:) TripperFan 06-18-2009, 01:09 PM It is hard to believe that so many talented people are speaking and writing incorrect English and even correct those of us who speak it correctly. This isn't the place to correct people for spelling, grammar, etc.. We have many members with learning disabilities and it's an open site to youngsters. I find it odd that you would sign up just to correct posters. If you are just going to troll, then find a site where there are English literature graduates as it's not welcomed here. Scoobiedoo30 06-18-2009, 01:20 PM The Site was Down from 6:00 am until 12:00 pm CT Time clj2 06-18-2009, 01:26 PM Geez, 2 posts and you are correcting somebody? Did you register just for that reason? The board was down again this morning, it was down yesterday some too. Seems like it's starting again :( TripperFan 06-18-2009, 01:54 PM Geez, 2 posts and you are correcting somebody? Seems like it's starting again :( Well if they did, they're going to be banned soon since that's directly against the rules of SO. factsoflife 06-18-2009, 07:05 PM i have the same problem too. I'll try to log on or follow a link from a notification email and i get a message saying the site isn't working. what gives? Sharop 06-18-2009, 07:21 PM If you are just going to troll, then find a site where there are English literature graduates as it's not welcomed here. As of June 2009 I'm an English literature graduate! (Well, English and Writing.) English Language might be the more suitable suggestion for mccavitt, though, as that involves the rules of English, whereas English Literature is mostly focused on reading and analysing texts. It's been a good ride. I've enjoyed being a geeky English student. Not that all English students are geeks (because they're NOT :) ) but I like to label myself as such. But at least you don't try to correct everyone's spelling or grammar Michelle and that's only partially why you're a great member and not a troll like the other poster there. ;) Mr. Television 06-18-2009, 09:28 PM I wonder if she's related to that English Professor troll from 2003, Mr. Buttman? TripperFan 06-18-2009, 09:38 PM I wonder if she's related to that English Professor troll from 2003, Mr. Buttman? LOL - a long-lost cousin now living in France!
