View Full Version : Trailor Terror
lauracrook 06-04-2009, 12:33 AM Does anyone have any theories or updates on what happened to Ashley Freeman and Laura Bible? when their bodies weren't found on Ashelys charred propety after the tragic fire on December 29th 1999 police feared the worst that they had been kidnapped and possibly murdered by an unknown assailant. I have always been saddened by this story and long for the case to be solved. The girls even have a myspace page dedicated to them that is how sorely missed they are.
UMfan77 06-04-2009, 10:23 AM As far as I know, there haven't been any updates as to where the girls are. Unfortunately, I think that they're no longer alive. There are a lot of twists and turns in this case. Ashley's brother, Shane, was killed by the Venita Police after he had stolen a vehicle, so there was rivalry/bad blood between the Freeman's and Venita Police and it's been suspected that the police set the fire. A few weeks before the fire, Danny Freeman told his brother that should he end up dead, to look closely at the Venita Police. Another side of this is that Danny Freeman was (or allegedly) a small town drug dealer and maybe the fire was a result of a "drug deal gone bad". I wonder if this case is still open and being actively investigated by the police or FBI. I'm sure Lauria's parents are making sure this doesn't go cold. This December will mark the 10th anniversary. :(
mike890 06-04-2009, 11:58 AM Someone confessed to the crime and provided details. I have yet to hear what has come of it. Here is a thread about the confession:

Clockworkhigh 06-04-2009, 11:12 PM Whatever it is, yeah they're dead for sure unfortunately. There is the remote chance that they were "in" on the fire and escaped and have been on the run, but can a couple of high school girls outsmart everyone for 10 years? Do they have the smarts to change their name, or go out on their own? I don't think they could even drive at that time. As for Laura Bible, man, what a rotten time to pick and sleep over at a friends house.

yea i agree i think they are dead i dont think they had anything to do with the fire and i dont think it was a random act of violence. Yes laura was unfortunate wrong place wrong time sort of thing- its so sad that on the UM segment lauras parents were saying that they havent even taken down the xmas tree that laura had put up and that they feel she is still alive. I feel they deserve to know what happened to their poor daughter. i figured out the other day that this years does in fact mark the ten year anniversary of the tragedy and to think that if laura and ashley were still alive today they would be in their mid twenties!! so sad......
TracyLynnS 06-05-2009, 09:32 AM I don't think the girls were in on the crime in any way and robbery was most likely not the motive.
One of the girls purses was found in the burned rubble and it had a couple hundred dollars cash in it. Her car was still at the scene, too.
I believe the girls were taken against their will and later killed. And if robbery was (at least part of) the motive, a purse stuff with cash is irresistible.

i mean maybe the police are involved in some way they did turn the case over the the state invesatigators i think maybe they were trying to cover up the fact that they knew something or maybe it had to do with Danny's drug schemes etc. maybe someone broke in killed the parents and took the girls and killed them to get back at Danny. And what about Ashelys boyfriend? i was surprised that he wasnt interviewed on the UM segment i think he should have been and maybe he knew something he wasnt telling them. I just hope that Laura and Ashley didnt suffer.

Oh I have a feeling that if the boyfriend was interviewed he'd have been nothing more than a dark silhouette with a voice make over. If you left a house two hours before a grizzly quadruple murder took place I think you'd be scared for the rest of your life that someone else would come after you.
No doubt the cops would have questioned him, and maybe even polygraphed him. And they probably did. But maybe he's moved on with his life and just doesnt want to be haunted by the memories anymore which might be why he wasnt on the segment. That's my thought, or else he was genuinely fearful of his life.
I just don't think he had anything to do with it. That's a small town, someone would have sung like a bird had he been suspected of involvement somehow I think

I'm surprised that RS didn't say something to the effect of "Ashley's boyfriend declined to be interviewed for this story" so that we're not left wondering what happened to him.

yea i wondered about that fact too RS just said that the boyfriend said that 'all was well in the house when Ashley's party broke up at 9:30'. I found this UM segment very vague as well but i know that they dont know much about what exactly happened that tragic night. I still think the police knew something that they still havent enlightened us to. Its such a shame that the girls are still missing. I believe they are dead but i wish their bodies would be found so that they can have a proper burial and rest in peace.
TracyLynnS 06-09-2009, 10:05 AM Well, I went to the myspace that's listed for the missing girls.
The details of the case posted there state that Ashley was saving up for a car. It was thought that she had about $1200 in a savings account. But the boyfriend said that she did NOT have a savings account and had actually been saving the cash at home, in a tupperware container inside the freezer. He placed the amount of cash at much higher than $1200. I think he said she had $3000 to $4000 stashed in the freezer.
That money was not found when authorities searched the house. But then, neither was Danny's murdered body found when authorities searched the house and then cleared it, allowing anyone to walk around the place, as it was no longer considered a crime scene.

Hm yes but Danny's body was discovered by Laura's parents the day after the accident which immediately ruled him out as a suspect because initially investigators thought when Kathy's body was found that maybe he had killed his wife and took off with the girls.
Thats interesting what you say about the money in the freezer i didnt know that bit of information maybe the boyfriend stole the money and did that awful crime and the girls fled with him thinking they could trust him and then he killed them or maybe he sent someone else to steal it and then paid them off with some of the money. U never know this may be a bizzare theory but this case in itself is bizzare so there may be a bizarre explanation for it.
TracyLynnS 06-11-2009, 01:42 PM I was thinking that since the authorities did such a sloppy job of finding the murder victim inside the house, then released the scene for anyone to walk through, then it could have been anyone who took the money out of the freezer.
Heck, the cops in that town sound so shady, I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of them who took the cash.
And people gotta quit keeping their money frozen in the freezer. It's just too well known as a common hiding place. Even someone who didn't have knowledge of the money being kept there could have suspected and found it easily.
I'm sure the fridge survived the fire better than the purse stuffed with money. Assuming the freezer cash was taken after the fire, that could be why it was easy to take that money, but the purse was overlooked. It was just among charred rubble and would have required a search, while with the fridge, they just had to open it up, grab the money and go.
Plus, if the boyfriend knew where the cash was, and he is innocent, who knows who else he or Ashley told about where it was being kept. Lots of folks have been killed over a stash of money kept in the house because too many people blab.
I even know of an entire family killed because of a drunken relative boasting at the bar about his rich uncle keeping money in a safe. The drinking buddy went to the house, and killed the whole family, but never found the money, because the drunk relative was a liar, and the cash never existed.

Yeah they sounded super shady, I certainly wouldn't trust them!!

Oh really? That's awful :( Can't believe some people's actions!
