i saw a segment ages ago and i can't remember much about it but i have always wondered about it. Its about a man who was a truck driver and he set out on a long delivery run and a few witnesses saw him driving and making stops at the gas stations. Then one day a witness saw his truck in the forest driving at full speed through the trees which was obviously odd in itself. Other witnesses later saw the truck in a field and a man nearby they asked if he needed help but he didn't really reply. The truck driver had been missing for sometime and he had a family and everything and i felt sorry for him. Thats all i remember about it so sorry if its a bit confusing. I was wondering if anyone knew the full story of this case and if there are any updates regarding the mans disappearance?

I've forgotten his name, but he was found dead a while later, maybe 2 years later, I need to look it up.

They said that his remains were found in an area that had been well searched earlier, and not far from where he was sighted.

They still don't know what caused him to go "off" like that and start driving his semi through the small back roads and doing the weird things he did. His wife said that they were happy, and were getting ready to pick out some new flooring for the house, when he went missing.

I'll see if I can get more particulars for you...

Okay, I found the info at Thor's wiki page. I'll copy some of that info below the link.

http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Devon_Williams

Name: Devon Williams
(sometimes name is misspelled as “devin")
Location: Tonto National Forest, Kingman, Arizona
Date: May 28, 1995
Occupation: Truck Driver
Date of Birth: 1966

Devon Williams was a 29-year-old long distance truck driver and loving husband and father of three from Emporia, Kansas delivering a refridgerated shipment to California.

Somewhere along the way, he never quite made it. He turned off on to a service road near Buck Springs, New Mexico, barreling through the trees and terrifying a motorist, Lynn Yarrington. Another eyewitness over heard Devon mutter somethng about "going to jail”.

By late Sunday afternoon, Deputy Dean Wells inspected the stranded truck. The cargo was intact, but Devon was missing. There was no reason to suspect foul play.

The truck had to be recovered by Kyle Burris of Flint Hill Transportation, Devon's company.

There is no reason for Devon's sudden disappearance. The day before his disappearance, he had phoned the company remarkng he could not get any sleep but was determined to get on the road.

Devon's wife, Mary Lou, was certain something must have happened to him; they had just recently bought a house and were at their happiest time in their lives. Searches for Devon yielded no results.

There are no suspects, although some UFO researchers have connected his case to stories about UFOs in the area.

Results: Unresolved. On May 2, 1997, a skull was found by hikers on the Mogollon Rim a quarter mile from where Devon vanished. Dental records confirmed the skull was Devon. Although no foul play was suspected, there are several unanswered questions in this case.

Oh, goodness....

I don't know what to think. He had called his dispatch office and told them that he couldn't sleep and was going to get back out on the road.

Maybe he was taking uppers (not too uncommon for truck drivers) and the drugs, combined with prolonged lack of sleep messed with his head, making him not think clearly, and that's what caused him to do such irrational things.

I don't really think it was foul play. This one is so confusing with so few clues to go on.

yes it is very bizzare case im not foul play was involved either considering that he seemed to be a happy person who loved his wife and family i really feel sorry for them. I wonder if the police could identify the cause of death the results may shed some light on the mystery.

Tracy, I vote you as our resident trucking expert. :)

I never thought to think of the upper theory, but it really does make a lot of sense. Especially if he hadn't eaten or drunk anything in a while.

I've wondered if Devin may have had a stroke. I spoke to his daughter a few months ago. She said they still have absolutely no idea why he acted that way so this will probably remain an unsolved mystery.

wow you realli talked to his daughter? hmmm maybe he was drugged or had an allergic reaction to something he took to help him stay awake on the road. But i just dont get it....did he have a history of mental illness or was this an once off incident that tragically resulted in his death?

I know they probably tested the truck, but maybe there was a possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning. It can cause all the symptoms that he was exhibiting, including hallucinations.
