Does anyone have any updates about the mysterious murder case of Megan Curl? She was the victim of a vicious killing in March of 2000 in her own appartment. She was tied to the bed her throat was slit and then the bed was set alight to try to cover up the evidence. A witness and friend of Megan's saw a strange man in Megan's appartment round two in the morning and that was the last time she saw Megan alive. The man was identified by Megan to be a man she was dancing with at a nightclub earlier on the night of her murder but police still dont know the identity of the vicious killer...or do they now?....please help this case has always fascinated me! Thanks

Yeah I know exactly which one you mean. Last time I checked I hadn't heard anything. There was a sketch of the man's face but that was about it. Too bad, it seemed like she had nice neighbours too willing to help her

yea i know about the sketch of a couple of guys one being the main suspect. It was such a sad case considering that Megan was diagnosed with mild retardation as a child and her mother said that she must have known the killer as she got in the car with this person and she was so trusting therefore she tended to be an easy taget for some of those men who might take advantage of her......

Hmm your theory is very interesting i have never thought of it like that before maybe the friend did have something to do with the murder. However there may not have been that many witnesses that saw Megan in the car with the man because it was two in the morning and many people would have been asleep. The friend did seem overly concerned however if i was in that situation and i saw my friend get into a car with a man who was a stranger to me then i would be concerned for her safety especially if she was there in the car one minute and not the next. I also dont think that Megan was raped i think it would have been mentioned in the UM segment if she had been. Did you notice that the friend wanted to have her voice altered and identity hidden when she was being interviewed either she was in fear of her life that the man may come back for her as she saw his face in Megan's appartment or she is trying to shift the blame from herself and thought it would be a good idea to ask for her voice to be altered and her identity hidden. I wonder if maybe the police should question her again and make her take a polygraph test it would be interesting to see the results. This is such a tragic case and i found that the UM segment made it seem like the police didn't investaigate the murder properly and didn't look at all the possibilities given the hideous things that were done to Megan. Just some thoughts.......

I read a thread on here that said her ex-boyfriend had been accused of the murder and later he died by refusing medical treatment after he fell off a water tower.

I don't think he could have been the one that did it because her friend clearly saw the guy Megan was with. I am positive the police would have shown the friend the picture of the ex-boyfriend. She must have said that he wasn't the guy, because as far as I know he was never charged in the murder.

I really, REALLY wish this case would be solved. I feel so bad about what happened to her, and I would love for her family to finally get justice.

Yeah that was her ex-husband for sure. She was married at one time. But I don't think he was the murderer. There was a sketch done of the suspect and no doubt the family would have pegged him as the husband had he looked anything like him.

It isn't outlandish to suggest that the guy she was dancing with came over after to see her and God knows what transpired next.

It is a horrible crime regardless of the victim but it really bothers me when someone who is mentally slow is harmed. Someone like Megan can be very much like a child when it comes to trusting people. It takes a real scumbag to take advantage of that.

I live in Conroe, Tx, just outside of Houston. This crime took place in Lufkin, Tx which is 2 hours east of here. I have always wondered if the police in Lufkin werent skilled enough in crimes like this due to the fact that this rarely happens there, and thus, missed alot of crucial evidence or overlooked it, causing the killer to get away. Lufkin is a small town right on highway 59. My theory is that some random stranger stopped for the night, met her at the bar and went back to her place afterwards. I believe the intent was to kill her the whole time. The Electric Cowboy, which is the dance hall Megan was at, has been torn down and a new store has been built in its place. I really hope the killer gets caught, but I highly doubt he ever does considering it happened so long ago and there wasnt much evidence to go on then.

I agree maybe the police weren't skilled enough. It may never be solved but you hear of cold cases being solved years later- guess that's all we can hope for :(
