I'm in Maui right now, but I Tivo'd Leno's last show on Friday night and Conan's first show on Monday. Looking foreword to watching them both when I get home!

Dang it! I was at work (remember, I work 3rd shift) and forgot to ask my sister to tape it for me!

Of course, she's a huge Conan fan so there's a chance she taped it anyways. Hopefully she did and I'll watch it later. I'm off tonight, so I'll at least get to watch the 2nd episode of THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH CONAN O'BRIEN.

I'm off from work for a few days so I stayed up to watched Conan's big debut.
The opening with him running across the country was very good, and the other taped bits were funny. Will Ferrell was a nice choice as a first guest.
Not a slam bang no holds barred debut, but I'm sure things will be fun this week.

I don't watch a lot of late night TV anymore (and when I did, It was always in Letterman) but I'll be keeping up with Conan and the new Tonight Show.

Okay, I did watch the opening segment: the cold open (learned something new; never heard that term before :) ) and the monologue/skit(??).

He got a handful of very mild chuckles from me, but no laughter. Just like Letterman. He did hold back a bit on the antics during the monologue, but you could tell that he wanted to let loose. He did let loose during the Universal Studios tram tour, and... ugh! I kept telling him to shut up. The best part of that was when he was giving the tourists cheap gifts from the 99 cent store (can anybody say Jay Leno, who had a 99 cent store recurring segment????) The TOURISTS were the ones providing the comedy though.

He must lose many of the Mexican American "jokes." The joke about not changing his show, spoken in Spanish, was good and was funny. But things like the pantomime playing with his non-existant mustache smacked of old stereotypical, derogatory inference that all persons of Mexican heritage must be "Mexican banditos." That kind of humor has been frowned on for decades now. It will not go over well with a Los Angeles based show.

Frankly, he started going flat before he was finished with his monologue. And I think he knew it. He looked uncomfortable.

It was good to see Andy Richter back as his "sidekick" and of course, I love, love, love Max Weinburg!

Well, I watched. And, it was the same old Conan. I did like the opening skit, it was the only thing I laughed at. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there. I can't stand that Conan doesn't do a monologue - after the cold opening, the next 15 minutes were Conan jumping around the stage talking about nonsense. It really made me miss Jay's monologue, that's for sure.

The interview was okay, but does Conan always make those weird faces while interviewing guests? His eyes seemed to be all over the place the entire interview.

It got a 7.1 rating, by the way. Not bad, but I wonder how much that'll go down after last night. Overall, I just miss Leno.

You have an interesting point. I've never really thought about it much before. He did do a lot of jokes like that on his old show about Telemundo.

I loved the very beginning where the show opened w/ the "Laramie" Peacock and "This program is brought to you in living color on NBC." . I wish Andy had more to do than stand behind the announcer's mike most of the night. He didn't move over to the couch until the end of the show.

um...no i miss Leno and look foward to his New show.

I finally saw my first episode (which of it's fifth) of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. It was great. I smiled from the beginning of the episode to the end of the episode, only to be interrupted by laughter. It just felt so good to see Conan and Andy together again and to have it official. I mean Andy's not just guest starring, he's actually employed there. It was great seeing Max again. There was some talk about him not coming to The Tonight Show, so it was a thrill to see that everything worked out and the three men are back together and having a good time.

Well, I watched. And, it was the same old Conan.

Conan SHOULDN'T change. He's a funny guy and while not everyone likes his comedy, he's aiming for his audience. And those people love him for who he is. So I'm glad to see he hasn't changed to win over the Leno crowd. He got this promotion from NBC for being a popular late night host acting just as he does. So it would make no sense to change that just because of his new show. Now for the earlier timeslot I can understand why they can no longer have the recurring character Masturbating Bear, but Conan himself should not change his comedy.

His fans find that funny. So, yes, he does have to make those weird faces while interviewing guests. Much like Leno bobbing his head around while telling jokes. It's just a part of their mannerisms.

I don't know if this will be a success ratings-wise, but I think Conan's doing a great job so far.

I FINALLY watched Conan's first show this afternoon and maybe I shouldn't have watched Jay Leno's LAST show the night before. I had TiVo'd them both and just now got around to watching them. Conan is funny, but I was a little disappointed in his show. I don't care for Max Weinberger or Andy Richter for that matter, and I can only take so much of Conan. The first part of the show was kind of funny with him reading his "to do" list and realizing that he forgot to move to LA. The scenes of him "running across the country" were hilarious! I've seen "Tonight" since then and I actually saw his interview with Tom Hanks twice, which is ironic, since I hardly ever watch the show. He's a good guy, but you can definitely tell that he's in a different class than Leno. It didn't even really feel like "The Tonight Show" it was like watching his regular show.
