catlover79 06-01-2009, 11:22 AM I LOVED that show!! My sister and I would always watch it every Sunday after church. I loved his "happy little trees". :D
TripperFan 06-01-2009, 02:17 PM Oh yah! It was because of him I learned how to paint trees quickly and easily. The guy's amazing - and yah, never thought about it but it was a relaxing show to watch.
MickeyMac 06-01-2009, 02:25 PM I never was a fanatic over this show, but I always thought he was a good painter.
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 06-01-2009, 02:58 PM Um, hell yeah! I watch it whenever I see it on. He makes it look so eaaasy. He was one classy ho what with that lovely hair of his, too. I loved the happy little trees and happy little bushes and happy little clouds haha. And his voice! It's so relaxing to watch.
catlover79 06-01-2009, 03:40 PM Anyone know if this show is on DVD? If it's not, it should be. So there.
Jude The Obscure 06-01-2009, 10:27 PM I loved that theme music!! Sadly, the reruns "The Best of Bob Ross" don't use it.
JamesG 06-01-2009, 10:32 PM I know of Bob Ross but I can't say that I ever got into it.
There was another "how-to-do" show I used to watch as a kid but it was around drawing and I can't remember who the man was and what show this was.
I vaguely remember but the man on the show was older and he had glasses with a gray beard. I believe he wore some kind of seaman's hat.

Pappy Drewitt. The Bob Ross for kids. ;)
Brad Russ 06-02-2009, 01:41 AM If he's the dude I'm thinking of, than yeah, I remember him. I remember this guy who use to paint on PBS I believe, and the thing that always stood out most to me was his extremely calming voice. I would get so relaxed listening to that man's voice!!! I think we're talking about the same guy.
Nighthawk76 06-02-2009, 01:54 AM Oh, yeah, I remember this guy. If I remember correctly, he loved painting trees.
I remember him. In fact I have a t shirt with his picture on it. He was very relaxing to watch.

Not just any trees, happy trees. I remember him saying that there were no mistakes while painting just happy accidents.
Schmoopie 06-02-2009, 06:04 AM OMG, I LOVED this show! My husband and I watch a lot of Public TV and he's the one who got me intersted in it. Bob Ross seemed like a great guy. He had such a soothing voice!
Whenever my husband and I are driivng somewhere and we see trees that have fallen over, he always tells me they are "tired trees". How cute is that!? I asked him where he heard that and he told me that Bob Ross would say it all the time.
It would be nice if those shows were on DVD. I know that at Michaels Arts and Crafts stores, I belive they sell a whole kit with the video/DVD and painting suppilies.
I would love to paint like him! He sure does make it look easy!

I know what you mean about the soothing voice Andrea. I'm not into painting, even though my Oma was an accomplished artist, but not being a huge art fan myself, I watched, or I should say I listened to his show, solely to hear his calming voice. It almost would put me in a trance. A number of years ago, PBS brought his show back for awhile. Didn't stay long, but I started listening, just to hear his voice again. lol!! It's amazing how one's voice can be so calming. I'll bet half of his fans were just like me, and didn't even like painting, but just closed their eyes, and listened to hear him talk.

LarkRiser 05-20-2015, 05:34 PM I watched it religiously in the mid 90s with my brother, cousin and best friend Rick. It was the finale of a great three hour block of programming.
Flying Dutchman 05-20-2015, 07:57 PM My Daughter, who has autism, is a Painter and she has had her paintings, I am proud to say, hung in galleries and sold. Bob Ross is the one that taught her to paint. A Fine gentleman and amazing painter and teacher. He is sorely missed.
R.I.P. Bob Ross.
Hawkee 06-02-2018, 04:49 AM My mom used to like watching The Joy Of Painting With Bob Ross because she likes paintings and she always admired Bob Ross's paintings because they looked really nice. It's real surprising that The Joy Of Painting With Bob Ross reruns are not seen on PBS anymore because it was a cool show that taught you all about how to paint wonderful artwork and it seems that Bob Ross's painting kits and DVDs are huge sellers at craft stores everywhere because any artist is most likely to have Bob Ross as a role model

RetroGuy2000 06-02-2018, 06:57 AM I loved Bob Ross and his happy little trees and clouds. RIP, Bob!
Babalu 06-02-2018, 07:13 AM I liked to watch his show although it was quite repetitive. Shame he died so young.
tlc38tlc38 06-02-2018, 08:29 AM I used to like watching this show.
Also, Justin Wilson...he was one of my favorite chefs. I loved his storytelling!
PhoenixAcres 06-02-2018, 10:53 AM It's a great show and very soothing. They have every episode from all 31 seasons on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/user/BobRossInc/playlists
I love that his idea of "getting crazy" was adding one more tree to his painting. :)
RIP Bob Ross
