Does anyone on the board here intend on purchasing the Norman Lear Collection? Personally I won't be doing it although it would be great to see the other AITF pilot (TV Land aired the first one some time ago).

I hope somehow the last three seasons get released. One way to go would be doing a complete series box set similar to what they did with Sanford and Son etc.. I'd buy the other 6 seasons again to get the show complete.

Another possibility would be for them to press the remaining seasons like WB is doing with some of their older movies and then those of us who want to purchase them could.

Just a few thoughts....hopefully something can be worked out.

No because that would mean I will be repurchasing the same seasons of the Norman Lear Shows I already have

I intend to buy it, because of all those shows the only one I have is Maude. (I bought it used for 10 bucks) I consider my self fortunate to be in this position, because if I had all those shows (6 seasons of AITF; 5 of Jeffersons; Sanford and Good Times complete) I couldn't justify buying this. I do feel for fans of these shows that already have all these seasons and imagine they really feel cheated.
One of the reasons I don't have any of these shows is I'm more inclined to go for shows with extras and now I'm going to get them, and will go ahead and start collecting the rest of the seasons.

Oh, also I hope they follow this up by completing AITF and The Jeffersons releases and get going with Maude and One Day!!! Archie Bunker's Place too!!!

I can only speak for AITF and when I emailed tvshowsondvd.com, I was told that the sets weren't selling that well. However, I haven't given up hope. They could do a few things:

-release the last three seasons in rapid succession a la the Partridge Family.

-release a complete series set which would take care of the last three seasons in one shot.

-maybe release them on demand similar to what Warner Brothers is doing with many of their 'classic' films where consumers special order the titles direct from the studio instead of buying them in a store or online e-tailer.

My thought is this Norman Lear set may generate interest in AITF, with the rarely seen pilots, documentaries and commentaries. The Jeffersons, Maude and ODAAT also. I myself had put all these shows on the back burner as far as starting to collect them, just like Paramont releases of Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy etc., because I just never could get excited about them with no extras at all. Now, I'm going to start collecting (All in the Family and The Jeffersons seasons 2 and after), because I'm more interested in them. Its all about the "extras" with me!
