One thing that I mentioned on a bunch of occasions is how similar and how popular with this same generation this show is to the "Facts of Life". Another thing that they have in common is that the companies that make the DVDs seem to have no interest in putting out either series! However, one way that they are different is that the fans on that page are constantly posting message after message about how angry they are while it has been months since anyone other then me has posted anything here! Would anyone like to kick around some theories as to way this is? Another observation that I have made is that fans of Generation X shows like "Facts of Life" and "Gimme a Break!" tend to detest Yuppie type shows like "Seinfeld" and "Friends"! A good number of the posts on the "Facts of Life" page are about the fact that shows like that are taking forever to come out while every last episodes of "Seinfeld" and "Friends" is being thrown in the public's faces. I just finished posting a message on the "Friends" page asking for feedback about why all of this is taking place. Another show that I am very anxious to see on DVD is "Mad About You". After I post this, I will be going to that show's page and telling my buddies there about all of these developments!

They probably won't release anymore seasons of the show.
I hope this is not the case... but it doesn't look promising that the entire series will ever be officially released by VEI, or anybody else for that matter.
It's just like the Bob Newhart Show, they announced no more seasons would be released after season 4 came to DVD. Two more seasons from the show that will probably never see the light of day.

I think some people look down on "Gimme A Break" because Nell was African-American and a housekeeper. True fans of the show, know she was much more - a diva and a mother-figure (especially after the Chief died) but it's one of those shows that is misunderstood (or remembered incorrectly) by some people.

I'm really surprised this show hasn't been released faster on dvd. I mean, it really was one of the funniest sitcoms of the 80's. A lot of people used to watch it. It was referenced on other shows back then like "Mama's Family". Not sure why it doesn't get much recognition. Universal doesn't seem to do much with their sitcoms. It hasn't aired in my area since TV One did a marathon before Season 1 was released on dvd. They didn't even pick it up for their schedule. I wish RTN would air it. :)

I am very happy that I was finaly able to think of something to post a message about that would stimulate some conversation!

I'm a little annoyed that GAB! is the only Universal sitcom not to be continued on dvd. Both "Kate & Allie" and "Charles In Charge" are coming to completion on dvd. I love both shows but what is so wrong with continuing "Gimme a Break!" on dvd???
