View Full Version : Sexual Innuendo?
basenjib123 05-30-2009, 12:48 PM Does anyone remember the episode where Mrs. Landers comes over to the Cleaver's house? She and Beaver sit down on the couch and Beaver keeps staring at Mrs Landers legs, she responds by covering them more? It was innocent but funny to see on the show. Were there any other instances that you can recall?
TripperFan 05-30-2009, 01:35 PM The ep where Beaver mixed up Miss Landers' handkerchiefs with his mom's slip had a bit of an overtone to it.
MickeyMac 05-30-2009, 01:48 PM Guess I am going to have to watch this show more closely. Wally seemed to me to be nervous around girls, and it wasnt until the last couple of episodes he seemed confident around them.
Torgo 06-16-2009, 01:10 PM Wasn't there an episode where Ward catches Eddie trying to watch June change her pearls?
"Watch June change her pearls?" Not that I remember. But this does remind me that I have been intending to work further on a fanfic I started a long time ago, where Larry Mondello returns to Mayfield in time to start high school with Beaver. Meanwhile Wally and the gang are going to State, and Eddie is still dying to get into Ward's old Alpha Kappa fraternity with Wally. Because of his snubbing them before and Ward Cleaver writing a letter in his behalf, for part of his initiation, Eddie has to.......
Mark B. 07-13-2009, 08:56 AM The best inuendo I recall was in 'Beaver Gets 'Spelled' when Ward recieves flowers from Mr. Raburn with a note that says 'hope to see you back on your feet soon' (Beaver had told her Ward had just gotten out of the hospital).
Upon seeing the note, June says to Ward "When did she see you off your feet?"
Hugh and Barbara's comedy timing was impeccable- still funny 50 years later!

Thats about as sexy as this show ever got. To be honest if Wally really wanted to he could have gone all the way with her.

I haven't seen that episode in a while, but as I recall, Beaver was staring at her feet -- because she was wearing open-style shoes with her toes exposed. He could see her legs anyday in class, as she always wore a dress. But her footwear was different.

Yeah I remember that episode. Beaver was so shocked to see Miss Landers not in her regular high heels. In another scene where she busts Gilbert, Whitey and Larry in the tree, one of them respondes saying "look her feet are coming out of her shoes" or something to that effect.
By the way Beaver really got to see her legs in season four where she is in a tennis outfit.
Dusty's Fan 07-19-2009, 10:55 PM Good catch as far as the other boys' comment! Sue Randall was very effective in that episode. It's always fun to see the actors on sets they didn't normally work on. I think that may have been her only visit to the Cleaver home.
And I enjoyed seeing Sue in most any episode she did -- I'd love to be able to go back in time to see her in person (especially in tennis garb!).

She came to the house in another episode. When Beaver was so upset when he found out she was getting married, she came to Beaver and Wally's room to talk to the Beav about it.

Of all the times I've watched Leave it to Beaver I've never heard that line.

Beaver: "Gee, Wally, all the way where?"
Wally: "I don't know, I never found out."

Thanks for posting that. I have seen that episode, but had no memory of the scene.
That reminds me of Beaver's crush on Miss Canfield as well, in earlier years.

Yeah that was a good episode. That was also one of Sue Randall's last appearances on the show.

I think it's one of those non-lines that is associated with the show. I've read many times that the famous "Beam me up, Scotty" on Star Trek was never actually said.

 I don't know why, but that struck me as hilarious when I read it! It's funny to think of this as being sexy, isn't it? Especially with the stuff they show on TV these days!

I love this episode! I think he was just amazed to see that she was wearing open-toed shoes. Whitey, Larry and Gilbert in the tree absolutely cracked me up! I love how Beaver was so embarrassed about Ms. Landers coming over for dinner.

I like the "Teacher Comes to Dinner" episode, but for some reason it is always mischaracterized in any episode guide I have seen in that they all say "Beaver talks his parents into inviting his teacher, Miss Landers,' to dinner..." He does not. He is very surprised, in fact, when Miss Landers asks him to stay after class for a moment, and rather than get a scolding for something, she thanks him and his mother for inviting her, which is confusing to Beaver, who of course can't resist telling one of his untrustworthy friends about it.

This is the actual TV Close Captioned Screen shot

One of the most well known quotes from Star Trek: The Original Series was never actually said in any episode. It got close a few times, but never “Scotty, beam me up”. Kirk said “Scotty, beam us up” in The Gamesters of Triskelion and The Savage Curtain.
