View Full Version : I hate smelling like pot!!!
Brad Russ 05-27-2009, 12:46 PM As many of you know, I have an application turned in for my own apartment, but in the meantime, I'm living with roomates, one of whom smokes pot daily. That **** smells nasty, and no matter what I do, I can't get the smell away from me. I keep my clothes in an isolated place, but if I go upstairs for even a second, I get that skunky smell all over me, it's embarrassing. A few weeks ago, I was helping a friend of a friend move, and the guy said, can I have some of your pot?? I don't even smoke it, but from me just going upstairs that morning to make breakfast, I realized I wreaked of it, and all the sweating I was doing wasn't helping matters any. lol!! I guess I'm basically just venting, I just wish I would get my own apartment soon, because I can't stand smelling like cigarettes, and pot anymore. I can smell the pot as I write this, that **** lingers. Anyone else have a similar problem??
Sharop 05-27-2009, 01:04 PM I've smoked pot a few times and enjoyed it, but I do agree that it can smell quite strong, and, in my opinion, also tastes horrible (but I like the relaxing effect.)
Is there any way that you could talk to your roommate about this problem and ask him if he could smoke outside of the apartment? Visiting guests usually smoke regular cigarettes outside - I know, in this case, that the person actually lives there, but if you explained the problem and asked him nicely to smoke outside, maybe he would be understanding?
catlover79 05-27-2009, 01:09 PM When I worked in a movie theater, there were people (especially on weekends) who came in just reeking of pot.   That is one of the most horrible smells in the world. I know what you mean, Brad. Hopefully you can get out of that living situation soon.
browneyes106 05-27-2009, 01:42 PM My friend hated smelling like pot back in high school. She didn't smoke pot her but her older brother did. She basically learned how to mask the smell around areas of the house well. She used to buy a lot of jar scented candles. She burn the candles down and she would kept the left over dried up wax in the jar. Dried scented wax can very strong effect when it kept in closets, drawers etc. Her brother worked down the street from their house once he left to work she opened windows, turned fans, sprayer air freshner and did what she to get mask the smell.
Nighthawk76 05-27-2009, 04:41 PM Brad, I have to apologize before hand, but I thought this thread was going to be something totally different. I thought you were going to say that you liked smoking pot, but didn't like the smell it left behind. I was going to post, "Well, stop smoking pot than!" ;)
Theda Bara 05-27-2009, 04:59 PM Personally, I could never stand the smell of marijuana. It stinks, worse than cigarettes (and that is pretty bad!!!).
MickeyMac 05-27-2009, 06:02 PM If one is in the hands of good quality reefer it can smell pretty good. At the same time I can understand now wanting to smell like it for various reasons. Little Mel try talking to your roommates.
gidgetgrape 05-27-2009, 09:37 PM I wouldn't enjoy smelling like 1969 either. I hope you get your own digs soon.
OH Nuts! 05-27-2009, 10:30 PM My days of using pot are LONG GONE (25+ years) so I too hate the smell. I hope you get your own digs soon Brad!
Brad Russ 05-27-2009, 11:05 PM Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone. I've talked to him about his smoking many times, but he won't budge. He's a 47 year old man whose been doing this since age 11, and so he's pretty hard headed, and set in his ways. We did manage to get him to start smoking regular cigarettes outside, since my mom has had three heart surgeries, but not even that stops him, as the smoking outside thing only lasted a few weeks. And he can't smoke the pot outside in my neighborhood, because there always seems to be a cop on every corner. We've got major gang and drug activity in our neighborhood. All I can really do right now is hope that the apartments I applied for get to my name soon, and do as browneyes said, and try to mask the stench as best I can in the meantime. Thanks again for the comments everyone, they're appreciated. :)
PunkyP0WER 05-28-2009, 12:01 AM A few weeks ago i stopped and asked for directions in the northend of hartford and the 2 guys who helped me reeked of pot. one was actually holding a joint in his hand and this was in broad daylight in public. i was going for an interview at the phlebotomy school and was so afraid i walked in smelling like pot. i tried to douse myself with perfume,
anyway, brad, in your bathrooms where you live do you have the vent fans. when my husband smokes cigarettes he'll go into the bathroom and put the fan on and it reduces the odor significantly if not completely.

That one guy sounds like a real winner!
PunkyP0WER 05-28-2009, 12:07 AM yeah just kicking around at 11am in the morning walking aimlessly down the city streets getting high on his reefer

Damn, that's a ****ty situation to be in Kim, and believe me, I know all about trying to mask the scent, and it's definitely not easy. We do have one of those bathrooms with a fan, but he's too lazy to even do that. He's just one of those hard headed guys who won't reason with anybody, as it's his way, or the highway. Being my mom's boyfriend, we can't just kick him out. He is totally unreasonable though, and it's worthless to even try and reason with him, because he thinks he can do no wrong. I know there are plenty of ways to deal with the situation, he just refuses to, and treats everyone else like their feelings mean nothing.
PunkyP0WER 05-28-2009, 12:28 AM i understand brad, i know a few hard headed people myself who don't consider others feelings.
InspectorExstead 05-28-2009, 12:36 AM Ugh. I absolutely HATE the smell of pot as well Brad. It's nasty and gross. Browneyes106 had some good suggestions. Maybe get some incense, it's stronger than candles. Heck, go all out and get incense, candles, and those room sprays, whatever you can think of. Especially if your roommate is not going to consider your feelings. I hope you can find either your own place or some new roommates soon!

11! I don't have a problem with people smoking pot (as I said, I've had it a few times myself) but I think 11 is far too young to be smoking it. In fact, too young to smoke in general. 17/18 maybe, but 11...how did he get his hands on marijuana at that age?

This cat has been smoking reefer since he was 11 WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?
I didnt smoke my first joint till I was 16. 11 is way too young to be doing that. Where the hell were his parents????
Chocoholic 05-29-2009, 03:03 PM I hope you get a new place soon. Pot and cigaretts are disgusting. I've dealt with inconsiderate roommates in the past and they are no fun.

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner, I was sick the day I read this, and didn't have the energy to reply.
Unfortunately this guy (Carl) had a very rough childhood. Two uncaring parents, and he was on his own since age 10. In and out of juvenile homes as a kid, started doing drugs alot worse than pot, let me tell you, and by 18 he did his first stint in prison for 7 years for armed robbery. I think prison has alot to do with his stubborness, as since those days, he can't stand people telling him what to do. All things considered, he's actually not a bad guy, or not as bad as most guys with his life would be. I love him and all, and he's like a father to me, I just get so annoyed with his stubborness, and selfishness at times.
