I'm thinking about buying the 3rd and 4th seasons on dvd, but I heard mixed reviews. Plus people say the first two seasons sets stunk. I love seasons 3 to 7 and would not have bought 1 and 2 anyways. But I'm wondering if the dvd sets are worth while.

Taste is different. Opinions are different. You shouldn't listen to anybody. If you like the Show and wanna have it on Dvd, go ahead and buy it. If not, not.

Season 1 was the most complete season DVD they have released so far
Season 2 they did a half-assed job and cut ALL of the original music and some scenes, it usually gets the worst reviews
Seasons 3 & 4 seem to be pretty much intact, although maybe not quite as good quality as the first season.
...if you are referring to how good the episodes themselves are in each season, its really subjective; you might be better off renting them or borrowing them before you buy if you are unsure, although if you like the episodes in the 3 and 4th seasons, you'll probably like the ones in the 5th and 6th seasons and vice-versa

In my opinion seasons three and four are fantastic.

^ Agreed.
Though I prefer Seasons 1-3 myself.....unfortunately for DVD Season 2 is a stinker. Poor Picture quality on some episodes plus all the music replacements definately ruin this set. Not even the opening "Rock Around The Clock" is there!
The episode where Richie gets a job as a DJ is butchered due to music cuts as well as dialogue relating to the music.
Best DVD Treatment for my money was Season 1, followed by 3, 4 and then 2.
