Brief Character History
Helga was brought to the US by Dimitri to serve as his housekeeper (no one suspecting that she was his mother-in-law). Angelique Marick, Dimitri's first wife, was supposed to have died in Vienna after spending 15 years in a coma after a fall from a horse. Helga had secretly been nursing her daughter in a hidden room in Wildwind hoping that Angelique would one day claim her rightful place as mistress of Wildwind. Helga displays her daughter to Dimitri and the world the night of his engagement party to Natalie. Natalie called off the wedding, but Dimitri's next love, Erica, would not be put off so easily. Helga constantly harassed Erica. She burned Hugo's will (but not before Edmund got a glimpse of it and saw that he was ALSO Hugo's son). Dimitri and Edmund felt NO brotherly love. When Dimitri took Erica to Hungary on a search for the truth from Angelique, Helga and Edmund followed. Edmund kidnapped Erica and held her for ransom to secure what was rightfully his. Finally Edmund recanted, released Erica, and Helga knew that SHE and only SHE could stop this love between Erica and Dimitri. Helga locked Erica in a crypt beneath the castle. Dimitri and Edmund teamed up to confront Helga and got her to admit to the burning of the will and the truth about Edmund, but she did not reveal Erica's whereabouts. When the two men cornered Helga atop the stone wall surrounding the castle, she accidentally fell to her death after proclaiming her love for Hugo!
