Hopkins To Feast As Hannibal Again
15 May 2009 5:00 AM, PDT

Sir Anthony Hopkins is teaming up with director Sir Ridley Scott to bring his most infamous villain Hannibal Lecter back to the big screen.

The actor will reprise his cannibalistic serial killer for the fourth time in a second sequel to the 1991 hit film The Silence of the Lambs, for which he won a Best Actor Oscar.

Hopkins also appeared in 2001's Hannibal before starring in the 2002 prequel Red Dragon.

And actress Cate Blanchett has been tipped to take over the role of Clarice Starling after Jodie Foster pulled out to direct Claire Danes in the forthcoming Flora Plum.

A spokesperson for film-makers Universal says, "Hopkins and Scott are both very committed. We like what we've got, and the revised script is really, really good."

It will be good to see Hopkins as Lector again. I'm not sure about Cate Blanchett in the Starling role.

Silence Of The Lambs is a classic.

Hannibal was pure crap.

I'd rather see the great Anthony Hopkins not go down this road again.

I'd really wish Jodie Foster would come back as Clarice.

I'd even settle for Julianne Moore again; at least have some consistency with the role.

I'd like to know more about the script before I say any more.

I agree I would settle for Julianne Moore too. I didn't think she did bad at all in the Clarice role.

New Hannibal Sequel Rumors Completely False...

Contact Music should be ashamed of themselves.

Not only was their story about a new Silence of the Lambs sequel bunk, but they STOLE the story from an old article circulating on Google.

Thanks to the fact that both Contact Music and WENN stole the story, without crediting the source, the story flooded the web within hours.

Thanks to our good friend Clint at Moviehole.net who confirmed with Universal that the story posted yesterday was a heaping pile of sh*t.

Click on over to Moviehole to read all about the situation and to hear what their Uni rep had to say about a potential sequel (let's just say there aren't any fava beans or liver in our near future).
