You may think the soap world has thrown in the the towel because 72-year-old Guiding Light has been canceled, but think again. Daytime TV is buzzing along as usual, and that includes The Bold & the Beautiful snagging three-time Emmy winner Rick Hearst from General Hospital.
Hearst, who was facing the prospect of a demotion to recurring status (as opposed to a contract player), will return to B&B as Whip Jones, a character he introduced and played for a brief stint in 2002.

Good for Rick - he is an excellent actor and I wish him much success. I remember when he was on B&B the first time.

GH sure dropped the ball on this one. Rick Hearst is a great actor. I really liked him when he played Alan Michael Spaulding on Guiding Light.

I still remember when Rick Hearst joined GH back in late 2002. His first scene was in a rotten South American prison with a guard who only spoke Spanish. No, the guard wasn't played by Gregory Sierra.

It couldn't have been him. The guy playing the guard was way too short.

But Gregory is such a great actor I'm sure he could convincingly play a character much shorter than himself!! ;)

I can't believe GH let someone like him go.

Yeah, I guess maybe some trick camera angles could've been used.

I know - daytime drama is a dying breed. I'm sure all the actors and crews at the 7 remaining shows are nervous. I know I would be. :(

Me neither - even the juggernauts - Susan Lucci, Tony Geary, Erika Slezak...no one appears to be safe anymore. :(

Well there goes that rumor that he was going to do some GL appearances as Alan-Michael :(
