But the initial ratings for “The Cougar” were lower than TV Land would have liked. “The Andy Griffith Show,” from the 1960s, is still the most popular show on the channel. Many viewers, it would seem, still relish the reruns.

Exactly. Network execs never learn - even when the truth is staring them right in the face.
"The Cougar" can't compete with Aunt Bee (don't we know?).

You know I love you Pav, but give me kudo's (first for my 29 years in TV and knowledge) regarding our slight difference of opinion several months ago, when I argued that TV Land was Bull****ing us with their research that Andy Griffith and silmilar older shows skew mostly to an older 50+ audience. I rebutted that those type of shows are proven evergreens that will keep discovering new audiences with each new generation, otherwise why would you being in your 20's have any interest in "Three''s Company" a show that aired before you were born?......Build it, keep it on the air, don't play a show 10 times a day and audiences will find a classic series or seldom seen one. The recent ratings over reality at moval back of Andy Griffith to prime proved my point of six months ago perfectly!
Again I love this site and appreciate all the news you provide, but please take it from an old timer, age 46.....I know this business is about sucking up, not losing contacts, writing positive things, etc....BUT..... to be a real journalist, reporter, you must be subjective and don't editorialize......report when you get a press release, etc and tell us what the demos show, and the other network news, but you don't have to spin it to what ION or similar schedules is positive, you don't have to be negative either, just report it, but to me sometimes you feel compelled to make lemonade from lemons, even when we all know what you are reporting to us will eventully be proven to fail, no matter how much you write, "this is a great move and try to defend some crappy executive programming decision". Again you have all my respect but am just tying to pass on some journalistic advice....PLEASE DON'T BE OFFENDED my dear NJ fellow friend and pier.
