ABC will have their upfront next Tuesday (May 19). So check back with us.
mgsports 05-12-2009, 01:11 PM Sunday's the same
Monday's Dancing with the Stars and it's Results show
Tuesday's Lost,Castle and another Drama
Wednesday's Uggly Betty and so on.
Thursday's Another Drama and the 2 Hospital Drama's
Friday's Bob Sagat's Show,Samantha Who and 4 other Comedies
Saturday's when College Football is over either NBA or College Basketball or Realty night or 20/20/other News Magazines
JulieSomoski 05-12-2009, 03:12 PM I like your schedule a lot, Pavan, probably the best you've predicted so far. Everything sounds good to me. Brothers & Sisters will definitely move to Mondays. Why not try a new show out of Desperate Housewives while there's still time? Ugly Betty on Fridays sounds great. Without competition, it could definitely rebuild there. A Wednesday 2-hour comedy block is a given, whereas a Tuesday hour comedy block is also a great idea. Maybe in late October/early November, though, they could cut DWTS down to 90 minutes, and stick a show like Samantha Who? back on Mondays. A show like Surviving Suburbia could always replace it on Wednesdays.
Pavan 05-12-2009, 04:07 PM I don't think Surviving Suburbia is in the cards anymore at ABC. Maybe as a summer player, but that's all.
Brent88 05-12-2009, 04:09 PM At first glance I hated that schedule, but I'm warming up to it now. The basic ideas are definitely good. B&S definitely needs to move somewhere else(either Monday or Tuesday) so DH can launch a new hit, Castle definitely needs to come back(though I would prefer it stay on Monday with B&S on Tuesday), Wednesday definitely needs to be comedy night, and Betty needs to go to either Tuesday or Friday(I would prefer Tuesday but Friday could work too). Not sure about Atlas on Friday though. Thursday and Sunday look great though. As long as Jim and Scrubs don't come back I can deal with it.
I won't miss Surviving Suburbia. It sucked.
Pavan 05-12-2009, 04:10 PM Fridays is certainly a wild card for ABC. They will go with scripted. But going by these comedies, none are Friday themed. Family dramas are the way to go and I think Atlas will get a surprise pick-up. Yes, the pilot was costly, but this is their second time developing this pilot and I think it went cheaper than the first. If they do The Unknown, what can they pair it with? Nothing really.
Superstar 05-12-2009, 05:21 PM No Canned or Let It Go :( I have a good feeling that neither of these will be on ABC's real schedule either.
Pavan 05-12-2009, 05:35 PM They both didn't test well, so likely they won't be picked-up.
tvcrazed 05-12-2009, 05:41 PM Did they actually redevelop ATLAS. It seems like they just removed Janelle Maloney from the cast credits and I didn't hear any cast additions like you did with the David Hemingson project. I wonder if they are keeping their options open and if they pick it up they will add to the exisiting footage etc.
Pavan 05-12-2009, 05:44 PM I think there are only three stars now on Atlas, and one of them was recast, if I'm not mistaken.
bliggenstrauff 05-13-2009, 07:41 AM Pavan, what do you have against Surviving Suburbia? It got good ratings, why would ABC all of a sudden get rid of it? I personally think it's the best sitcom to come along in a long while. Please explain why you don't think it'll be on the schedule because its ratings are competitive
Pavan 05-13-2009, 10:41 AM I don't have anything against it. In fact, I've seen every episode so far and enjoy it. It's ratings are not good. If it were good, it would have aired this week. It is losing a lot of its audience from Dancing with the Stars and Samantha Who? did much better. It's not a good sign when you go from 20 million to 9 million in 2 minutes.

Brian Damage 05-15-2009, 11:16 PM what about "The Middle?"

Ugh, why? Every year ABC brings back these shows no one watch and I do not get it.
Pavan 05-16-2009, 12:58 AM Great news for Better Off Ted. Hopefully it can build like The Office did in its second year. Ted got better and better.
As of now all of these are on the comedy docket: Modern Family, Cougar Town, Scrubs (perhaps as a hybrid), Better Off Ted.
Good to go: Samantha Who (perhaps as a hybrid), Romantically Challenged, The Law, The Middle
Still has a shot: Awesome Hank
Lots of comedies! Some others still have a shot, but these are the main comedy players for ABC next year.
Brent88 05-16-2009, 02:38 AM DHD is reporting The Middle(with Patricia Heaton) and Awesome Hank picked up, also picked up: Modern Family(Sitcom), Associates, Eastwick, The Forgotten, and a limited order for V.

I hope they pick up Romantically Challenged. I love it.
Iowayboy 05-16-2009, 02:09 PM Until this spring, when Better Off Ted and Castle arrived, I hadn't watched ABC at all in years. But, I have to admit that the renewal of those two shows and what I have read about some of new material for fall has gotten my attention. I have a particular interest in the new Eastwick, if only for the presence of Paul Gross, who I wanted to see in something again ever since Due South went south.
Here's how I would arrange their programs:
SUNDAY: Makeover / EASTWICK / Housewives / HAPPY TOWN
MONDAY: Dancing / Brothers & Sisters
TUESDAY: MODERN FAMILY / MIDDLE / Dance Results / Ted / Castle
WEDNESDAY: V / FLASH FORWARD / FORGOTTEN
THURSDAY: HANK / COUGAR TOWN / Grey's / Practice
FRIDAY: Funniest Videos / THE LAW / Scrubs / Sam Who / Ugly Betty
SATURDAY: College Football
Pavan 05-16-2009, 03:27 PM There is no real flow there. And some of those things will not happen. 20/20 will remain Fridays at 10 and Dancing Results is not a half-hour nor is AFV. V is not for fall.
JulieSomoski 05-17-2009, 09:18 PM I love all the comedy. ABC is looking great this season! Not sure about a Friday comedy block, though. Honestly, if I were ABC, I wouldn't go back there again. I would put Ugly Betty on Fridays. It's declining, and either it'll end peacefully on Fridays, or have a shot at redemption with little competition.
mgsports 05-17-2009, 10:13 PM Good lots of Comedies but the Bob Saget one needs to come back.
After College Football is over they will schedule some shows just so Saturday's can be fun again.

LOL - I agree. I think if it does well enough in its summer airings, why not renew it? If it can get a stable amount of viewers in the summer, it deserves another chance.

I also think Betty should go to Fridays because it's way too weak to anchor Wednesday but I'm having real trouble figuring out Wednesday otherwise. Could be anything there...
Scoobiedoo30 05-18-2009, 12:00 AM What Time do you think Betty should air on Friday Night's
Brent88 05-18-2009, 12:22 AM What Time do you think Betty should air on Friday Night's
Definitely at 8/7 Central, regardless of what night it's on.
Brent88 05-18-2009, 01:58 AM After adding five new scripted series during the strike-impacted 2008-09 season, ABC is back in a reboot mode, ordering 10 new series -- six dramas and four comedies -- and keeping several more pilots for midseason consideration.
ABC's high concept-heavy drama slate include two new crime dramas -- the Bruckheimer-produced amateur sleuths show "The Forgotten" and murder mystery "Happy Town," from the creative team behind "October Road"; legal drama, "The Deep End"; as well as two 1980s adaptations, "Eastwick," based in the movie with Jack Nicholson and "V," based on the NBC miniseries.
In preparation for the upcoming exit of "Lost," ABC is betting heavily on action drama "Flash Forward" as its successor. "Flash," which already was promoted on "Lost" this season, is expected to launch in the fall, filling in for the Emmy-winning island mystery drama while it's on hiatus.
ABC's drama picks feature a first and an unbroken streak.
"Forgotten" marks the first scripted series on ABC by Bruckheimer, while the order for "Eastwick" extends the perfect record for director David Nutter, who has gone 15-for-15, with every pilot the has directed so far picked up to series.
On the half-hour side, ABC went for big sitcom stars in family comedies, a genre that once thrived on the network but has been absent in the past few years.
Its new series picks include two family shows toplined by Emmy-winning veterans -- the multi-camera "Hank," starring Kelsey Grammer, and single-camera "The Middle," starring Patricia Heaton. They're joined by multi-family mocumentary "Modern Family" and the newly single mom comedy "Cougar Town" starring Courteney Cox.

Brent88 05-18-2009, 02:01 PM And yet Scrubs returns.
For real.
I wonder how the comedy lineup will shakeup now. I had seen Samantha Who? with Cougar Town.
The move to Thursday killed it though, it was DOA against Idol that first week and never recovered.
nota_bene 05-18-2009, 02:47 PM How pathetic. I hate ABC.
Brent88 05-18-2009, 03:00 PM Here's my prediction, I really have no idea. The only night that is for sure is Monday, every other night has at least 1 timeslot that could be something different(Tuesday at 8 and 10, all of Wednesday, Thursday at 8, Fridays at 8 and 9, and Sunday at 10).

Brent88 05-18-2009, 03:08 PM In really do think Brother and Sisters will stay on Sunday Night's
It might but it really needs to move. If it doesn't move and stays on Sunday then Eastwick will probably be on Tuesday. That's my best guess.
Every year we think B&S is going to move and it never does. But it's long past time for it to.
Scoobiedoo30 05-18-2009, 03:40 PM I guess we will see on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 what happens with Brother's and Sisters.

Not surprised, at all. I have been predicting this shows cancellation ever since it moved to Thursday. This show was completely a function of the 9:30 post DWTS time slot. It was never a hit like some thought.

I would definitely put the comedy block on Wednesday and Betty on Friday. If they want a TGIF block they must be family friendly and to say the least Ted, Cougar Town, and Scrubs aren't.
JulieSomoski 05-18-2009, 04:23 PM A Friday comedy block isn't needed. ABC shouldn't go that route yet another time. Ugly Betty is much better for Fridays. In fact, I'd also move Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to Fridays. Both these series are again, and are ready for a move to Fridays. That way, ABC could center Sundays around Desperate Housewives and 2 new dramas.
Jude The Obscure 05-18-2009, 07:58 PM I was shocked to see ABC axe SW? and give yet another life extension to Scrubs.
Scoobiedoo30 05-18-2009, 09:20 PM You should have seen my fave when I heard this sad news
Brent88 05-18-2009, 11:28 PM This could still change but...
http://www.abcmedianet.com/specials/upfront09/index.shtml
Eastwick Wednesdays at 10
The Forgotten Tuesdays at 10
Modern Family Wed 9
Cougar Town Wed 9:30
The Middle Wed 8:30
Hank Wed 8
So that would mean B&S stays on Sundays, Scrubs/Ted likely land on Fridays, with Betty on Tuesdays at 8
Again, it could be much different when it's actually released though.
Pavan 05-19-2009, 01:46 AM Leaked schedule:

I really like this schedule. Wednesday looks great(much better than I expected if it happens) and I love Flash Forward on Thursday. Hope it's close to what happens.
Friday is the only real problem I see, but it's Friday. Better to have a weak Friday than a weak Wednesday or some other night.
Pavan 05-19-2009, 02:03 AM I like it too, but not sure if I buy Shark Tank on Fridays. I'd just hold it for midseason and have Betty/Supernanny on Fridays. But then no idea what would happen Tuesdays at 8. They could order some midseason comedies in a few weeks, like Romantically Challenged and The Law.
tvcrazed 05-19-2009, 02:24 AM Totally agree, they'd be better off airing Shark Tank during the Summer in a good slot, then waste it on Fridays. Also, Ted will never grow on a Friday. Hope the Friday part changes.
You Friday idea is much better, Pavan, Betty should be on Friday.
Jude The Obscure 05-19-2009, 09:31 PM time to move Brothers and Sisters on its own.
