In the past couple of weeks, various TV channels in the US have planned their own tributes in honour of the great Bea Arthur after her death on April 27 that have included special airings of her two hit sitcoms "Maude" and "The Golden Girls". Now, proving the old saying is true, that is "Better late than never", or maybe because they were getting a lot of complaints from her many fans, Canada's DejaView will finally offer their tribute on Sunday May 17 with an entire day full of memorable episodes from "Maude". Now, believe it or not, Bea Arthur does have a slight Canadian connection. Way before Maude made her a star, in the mid-1950s, she appeared on the CBC as a performer on the "Wayne and Shuster" comedy specials, and was also featured on the duo's many classic appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show". From there, it was no looking back, although it still took a long time before she achieved the fame and the success that she deserved. Incidentally, no Canadian channel to date has offered any "Golden Girls" tributes yet, but it should only be a matter of time, I hope, since I liked that show a lot better than "Maude". I'll let you know if it happens. Anyway, here are the episodes that will be featured:
