The Monkees--I wished it would have lasted a year or 2 longer. Most sitcoms lasted as long as they could.

Reaper (I know it's not officially canceled yet, but it doesn't look good for renewal)

Well, this is a drama - but I wish Providence had lasted longer. I loved that show. Friday nights have not been the same without it!! :(

Off the bat:

SITCOMS:
WKRP in Cincinatti
Square Pegs
The Monkees
Sledge Hammer!
Police Squad!
That's My Mama!
What's Happening!!
Just the Ten of Us - There would've been a 4th season if ABC weren't so biased about their TGiF line-up wanting to be all Miller-Boyett shows.
My Sister Sam - on one side of the coin it could've lasted longer had CBS not move it from Monday nights to Thursday against the killer NBC Thursday line-up.
Getting By
Gilligan's Island
Max Headroom

NON-SITCOMS:
Kolchak: The Night Stalker
Green Hornet, The
Spenser: For Hire
Dragnet (2003) - I would've loved to see Ed O'Neill play something outside of his Al Bundy, but it didn't happen thanks to ABC and the producers chaning the format to another L&O type show, as if we have enough of those already to go around!

For a sitcom it would definitely be Fawlty Towers (or was that Warty Towels, Fatty Owls or Farty Towels?) Only 12 episodes made, but what wonderful 12they are.

For a non-sitcom it would be the original Johny Quest.

Another one I just thought of is Early Edition, although I didn't care for the last two seasons. Still an underrated dramedy for the first two years.

WKRP in Cincinnati most definitely and The Monkees (I would have liked to see additional seasons if NBC allowed the group to change the format).

My Sister Sam (the thread orignator indicated it didn't do well in it's timeslot - it did fine - it was because Rebecca Schaeffer was murdered that it ended).

It Takes Two an early 80s short lived comedy with Patty Duke and Richard Crenna - Helen Hunt played their young teenage daughter). It ended early (I think one season, if that) because of Patty's undiagnosed bi-polar disorder unfortunately. It would have been a winner for sure.

My Sister Sam (the thread orignator indicated it didn't do well in it's timeslot - it did fine - it was because Rebecca Schaeffer was murdered that it ended).

In its 1st season it was great becuase CBS slotted it on Monday nights alognside its popular established '80s sitcoms in "Newhart" and "Kate and Allie."

But when S2 rolled into town, CBS made the suicidal move of moving it from Monday nights to the suicidal Thursday nights up against NBC's ratings juggernaut Thursday night powerhouse. And b/c of that, the ratings slipped really badly that CBS canned the show after 2 seasons.

And two, even if it had a S3, how would CBS would've handled the death of Rebecaa Schaeffer? Years prior to CBS and "MSS," NBC had to deal with the untimely death of Freddie Prinze (Sr.) w/ "Chico and the Man" and look what happened.

I thought this was a pretty good show. It definitely deserved more than one season.

Becker
I agree with Chocoholic, Reggie never should've been replaced. Although I didn't hate Chris, she just couldn't take the place of my favorite character. I loved Reggie!

The Faculty
This was a very short-lived sitcom from 1996, based on teachers in a high school. I doubt many people remember it, but I thought it was great.

Major Dad
I watched this show as a kid, but didn't remember much of it until my friend got me rewatching it online a while back. It's one of the best sitcoms I've ever seen!

I hated when Reggie was replaced on Becker. She had better chemistry with Becker than Chris did. I also remember The Faculty I thought it was pretty good. Another short lived sitcom that I liked was The Crew on Fox which was about a group of flight attendants.

AES Hudson Street, which had my man, Gregory Sierra (:eyes:) in the lead role. It only lasted 5 episodes and aired in the spring of 1978. It had a plum timeslot (right after Barney Miller) but for some reason, it tanked. :(

Refresh my memory on that one; was it a comedy or drama?

It was a sitcom - I think it was supposed to be a cross between Barney Miller and M*A*S*H. It was created by the same people who created Barney Miller, written by the same people, directed by the same people and featured a lot of the same guest stars.
