Danny Ozark, the Phillies manager whose hound-dog face and penchant for malaprops sometimes obscured the success his teams enjoyed during the 1970s, died today at 85 in Vero Beach, Fla.

Mr. Ozark, who during his 6-plus years at the helm managed the two winningest teams in Phillies' history in 1976 and 1977, died at home this morning, according to an announcement by the club

Wow, 2 people from the "Phillies family" dying within a month from each other.

First, Harry Kalas, and now Danny.

yeah phoebe, not good!!! i didn't really know danny, but he seemed like a great guy. obviously i loved Harry but will miss both dearly.

2 deaths, the happiness of getting world series champion rings, putting the champ flags up....this year, we can't worry about 2009 yet with all the deaths, and celebrations.....damn
