View Full Version : What Year Did You Graduate High School? Wreckless 05-07-2009, 01:37 AM Me- I graduated hs in 2007...June 15th was the day, but I'm just asking for the year, and anything else you want to add about graduating or that year :). Family Ties Forever! 05-07-2009, 01:39 AM I graduated in 1998. Nighthawk76 05-07-2009, 01:42 AM I graduated in 1995. I am proud to say that the class of 1995 all across the United States had the highest test scores during our four years in high school than any graduating class since the 1960's. :) However, the test scores have dropped every year since then. Brad Russ 05-07-2009, 04:16 AM I never even attended High school. The last grade I completed was grade 8, and then I was put into an alternative school, but only lasted a few months there. My agoraphobia, and other panic disorders made it impossible for me to go to school, especially since I was undiagnosed, and unmedicated at the time. Almost immediately after I dropped out, I became housebound, and stayed that way for 10 years until I finally got diagnosed, and medicated. I was always so scared in school, that I was too distracted to learn anything, and so I have pretty much educated myself over the last 13 years. I am thinking of going to a community college, and getting my G.E.D. now that I'm somewhat rehabilitated. I say somewhat only because the agoraphobia is always there, it's just more manageable now. My high school graduation year would have been 2000. Wreckless 05-07-2009, 04:40 AM I never even attended High school. My high school graduation year would have been 2000. That sucks Brad. What exactly is agoraphobia, if I may ask? I wonder if it runs with manic disoder and even manic depression...my Dad and younger brother have both of those....but my little brother is going through the same situation as you went through & explained above...not good. Brad Russ 05-07-2009, 04:58 AM That sucks Brad. What exactly is agoraphobia, if I may ask? I wonder if it runs with manic disoder and even manic depression...my Dad and younger brother have both of those....but my little brother is going through the same situation as you went through & explained above...not good. Agoraphobia is basically a disorder where you can't be in large crowds, because of the fear that you'll have a panic attack. So it's basically a fear of being around lots of people. At it's worse, I actually had a 10 foot rule that everyone in my family had to stand atleast 10 feet away from me at all times. I had irrational fears that I stunk, and that I was dirty, which I now know were a part of my disorder, and isn't true, but yeah, it was pretty bad at one point. I still suffer from panic disorder, and have panic attacks from time to time, and am still mostly a home body, but atleast now I can walk down the street without having a nervous breakdown. lol!! As far as whether it has a connection with depression, I believe it does. I'm bi-polar, and most of the agoraphobics I've met, have always been really depressed. It's hard not to be depressed when you're always having panic attacks. I'm sorry to hear about your brother!! you might want to look into seeing if he has a similar problem. Had I been diagnosed before the age of 23, my teenage years wouldn't have been so messed up. You might want to look into him getting a psychiatric evaluation if this continues, and maybe they'll be able to help through therapy, and medication. I don't know enough about your brother obviously to know that this is his problem, but I think it might be something worth looking into. People always thought I was just a bad, and lazy kid, when in reality, I was suffering deeply from very real disorders. bmasters9 05-07-2009, 06:20 AM I graduated in 1999. I never got held back at all, but I was ALWAYS older then my classmates every year- older then at least 75-80% of the people in my (graduating) class...because years earlier my mom optioned to put me in preschool a year later, so instead I would be the oldest, or one of the oldest in my graduating class in hs, when I went into preschool, instead of being down the bottom as one of the youngest in my graduating class. I was still in preschool the 1990-91 school year (the year I would have gone to kindergarten like the rest of the people who graduated in '03), and went to kindergarten in the fall of 1991. I SHOULD have gone to first grade in 1992, and I did - for eight weeks. I had to move to a different town over Thanksgiving that year and when I started at my new school after Thanksgiving, they'd placed me in the second grade. So in the fall of 1993, I started third grade. :) It's a long, confusing story, so it's just easier for me to tell people I was in kindergarten in 1991 and second grade in 1992. So I went from being one of the oldest in my class to the youngest in my class... I was 17 years and 9 months when I graduated (I'd turned 17 RIGHT before I started senior year, so I was freshly 17 when school started). Probably one of the youngest HS graduates here on SO. (I was born 8/22/). Nah, doesn't bother me that much. :) There were, I think, two gals in my class who were younger than me when we graduated. One of them had a b-day the day after mine (I'm August 16th, hers was the 17th), and the youngest girl's b-day was October 3rd, so she was still 16 when we started senior year in 2002. My school always had their school pics done in September so it's odd now looking at my yearbooks and knowing she hadn't turned the age that the rest of us were at the time. lol I like knowing I wasn't 18 when I graduated, just because. There's a guy here - Brian (not Brian Damage... just Brian) who doesn't post much anymore. He graduated in '03 as well but has a, I think, November birthday. But then out of close to 500, only like 50 people showed up, so maybe all the fat ones stayed at home. dawsongirl 05-08-2009, 09:55 PM Nothing ever really changes does it? lol No...my mom even says that and she's been out 42 years! At her last reunion (I think she stopped after 20), the cliques still got together and acted cliquey as ever. How mature. Nighthawk76 05-08-2009, 10:24 PM  I wanted to go to see who was fat! Not as many as I'd hoped. Ha, most of the girls in my senior class got fat and they all had teen-aged kids, too. The reunion just looked BORING as all hell. MickeyMac 05-09-2009, 12:40 PM I think some of us can agree high school sucked. catlover79 05-09-2009, 12:44 PM I think some of us can agree high school sucked. Well, some parts were better than others. Freshman year completely sucked, but the other years were somewhat better. MickeyMac 05-09-2009, 12:51 PM The best part of high school for me was the day I graduated. catlover79 05-09-2009, 01:31 PM The best part of high school for me was the day I graduated. That's always the best part!!! :D Mr. Television 05-09-2009, 09:23 PM I just found out that one of my classmates died. He was one of the nicest ones too. That's another reason I don't want to go to any reunions. They can be depressing. :( Theda Bara 05-09-2009, 10:03 PM I think some of us can agree high school sucked. I loved my senior year of high school. I did not care "if I" fitted in and I also did not care if I was popular or not. I got along with most of the other students. But once graduation, I moved on with my life and lost contact. The main reason why I did not attend my reunion because A. it looked BORING B. I had nothing in common with these people. treky 05-09-2009, 11:30 PM 1977 Liza 05-10-2009, 01:32 AM  I wanted to go to see who was fat! Not as many as I'd hoped. I'm going, definitely. I just want to see where everyone ended up, and to look fabulous myself. That's the plan anyways ;) EmoJoe 05-10-2009, 02:38 AM im graduating next year. It was the best time I've ever had. catlover79 05-10-2009, 10:38 PM How unfortunate...My 20th was like a family reunion everyone got along well I was so surprised that no one was standoffish. I thought it was cool to be able to tell people that I was getting married in a week. To kind of show them that, hey, I can actually find a guy! I know that's just terrible, isn't it? Honestly, none of them really cared. My husband hated the reunion, although I had a great time for the most part. The crazy thing is that my favorite part was dancing to all the awesome 80's songs. I made up notes for people with my new address in Seattle in case they wanted to contact me and of course no one did. Bunch of jerks! I didn't bother with my 20th and I don't really care to go to any more. |
