New Series Include Four Dramas: "Trauma," "Parenthood," "Mercy" and the Event Series "Day One" as Well as Two Comedies: "Community" and "100 Questions"
Returning Series Pickups Include "Heroes," "Southland," "Parks and Recreation" and Six New Episodes of "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday"
NEW YORK CITY - May 4, 2009 - NBC unveiled today a strong lineup of broad and diverse quality programming for the 2009-2010 television season announcing the pickups of six new series featuring four new dramas including "Trauma," "Parenthood," "Mercy" and the event series "Day One," as well as two new comedies including "Community" and "100 Questions." Four returning series pickups were also announced today including "Heroes," "Southland," "Parks and Recreation" and the addition of six new episodes of "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday" skewering today's top stories in live half-hour primetime shows.
The new and returning series will launch next season and the epic event series "Day One" is slated to premiere out of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
"The Jay Leno Show" will be broadcast Monday-Fridays, 10-11 p.m. ET beginning in the fall. Previously announced series pickups include "The Office," "30 Rock," "The Biggest Loser," "The Celebrity Apprentice," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Friday Night Lights," and new alternative series "The Marriage Ref," "Breakthrough With Tony Robbins" and "Who Do You Think You Are?"
Additional series pickups will be announced May 19, when NBC announces its 2009-2010 schedule.
NBC unveiled pickups for the upcoming broadcast season in the first of a series of presentations today and tomorrow to key advertisers from Studio 8H--the home of NBC's "Saturday Night Live"--at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. Presentations will continue in Chicago on May 7 and Los Angeles on May 12.
"We are thrilled to be announcing such an awesome slate of new series that build on our existing quality brand and deliver emotional, human stories," said Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. "NBC will strive to make viewers feel and our shows represent the full range of human emotion from laughter to tears. We can't wait to share these concepts with our audience and our advertising partners."
"These new series will showcase fresh talent and bold, original concepts that are extremely well executed," said Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios. "We are grateful to the producers, casts and crews -- and our team -- who have delivered incredibly compelling and entertaining new series."
In response to an evolving media marketplace and the changing needs of advertisers, NBC has created a more innovative, client-centric approach to its traditional Upfront with a series of one-on-one client presentations, which began today in New York City. These presentations are interactive and, unlike other networks' Upfront presentations, will include a Q & A with advertisers and NBC sales and entertainment executives.
NBC will also host advertisers and affiliates at a "Night of Comedy" featuring appearances by some of its biggest comedy stars including Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Rainn Wilson and Tracy Morgan on Tuesday, May 19 in New York City.
Detailed new series descriptions are listed below.
2009-2010 NEW SERIES DESCRIPTIONS
New Dramas
PARENTHOOD
From the executive producers of the box-office hit "Parenthood" -- Ron Howard and Brian Grazer (Oscar winners for "A Beautiful Mind"), and writer/executive producer Jason Katims ("Friday Night Lights") -- this contemporary re-imagining of the blockbuster film depicts the colorful and imperfect Braverman family -- four grown siblings sharing the headaches, heartaches and joy of being parents. The star-studded cast includes Peter Krause, Maura Tierney, Craig T. Nelson, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia, Monica Potter, Erika Christensen and Sarah Ramos. When Sarah Braverman (Tierney, "ER"), a financially strapped single mother, returns home to her parents and siblings in Berkeley, Calif. after packing up her Fresno apartment and uprooting her two inconvenienced kids, Amber (Mae Whitman, "In Treatment") and Drew (Miles Heizer, "ER"), she is greeted by her opinionated father, Zeek (Nelson, "Family Stone," "Coach"), and strong mother, Camille (Bedelia, "Heart Like a Wheel"), who are privately dealing with their own marital issues. As Sarah is reunited with her siblings -- sister, Julia (Christensen, "Traffic"), and brothers Crosby (Shepard, "Baby Mama") and Adam (Krause, "Six Feet Under") -- all struggling with issues of their own, it's clear that the Braverman reunion is just what they need to face the everyday challenges of modern family life. "Parenthood" is a production from Imagine Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. Emmy winner Thomas Schlamme ("The West Wing") directs the pilot.
TRAUMA
Executive producer Peter Berg (NBC's "Friday Night Lights") delivers "Trauma," the first high-octane medical drama series to live exclusively in the field where the real action is. Like an adrenaline shot to the heart, "Trauma" is an intense, action-packed look at one of the most dangerous medical professions in the world: first responder paramedics. When emergencies occur, the trauma team from San Francisco General is first on the scene, traveling by land, by sea or by air to reach their victims in time. From the heights of the city's Transamerica Pyramid to the depths of the San Francisco Bay, these heroes must face the most extreme conditions to save lives -- and give meaning to their own existence in the process. Starring in "Trauma" are Derek Luke ("Notorious"), Cliff Curtis ("10,000 B.C"), Anastasia Griffith ("Damages"), Aimee Garcia ("George Lopez"), Kevin Rankin ("Friday Night Lights") and Jamey Sheridan ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent"). "Trauma" is a production of Universal Media Studios and Film 44. Berg, Sarah Aubrey ("Bad Santa," "Friday Night Lights"), Dario Scardapane and Jeffrey Reiner ("Friday Night Lights") serve as executive producers. The pilot was written by Scardapane and directed by Reiner.
MERCY
"Mercy," a new medical drama with a unique point of view, portrays the lives of the staff at Mercy Hospital as seen through the eyes of those who know it best -- its nurses. Nurse Veronica Callahan (Taylor Schilling, "Dark Matter") returns to Mercy from a military tour in Iraq -- and she knows more about medicine than all of the residents combined. Together with fellow nurses Sonia Jimenez (Jamie Lee Kirchner, "Rescue Me") and Chloe Payne (Michelle Trachtenberg, "Gossip Girl"), Callahan navigates through the daily traumas and social landmines of life and love both inside the hospital and out in the real world. The cast also includes: James Tupper ("Men in Trees") as Dr. Chris Sands, a new doctor at the hospital who complicates Veronica's life; Diego Klattenhoff ("Supernatural") as Mike Callahan, Veronica's husband; and Guillermo Diaz ("Weeds") as Nurse Angel Lopez. "Mercy" is a production from Universal Media Studios and Berman Braun. Joining writer/executive producers Liz Heldens (NBC's "Friday Night Lights") and Gretchen Berg & Aaron Harberts ("Pushing Daisies," "Pepper Dennis") are executive producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun. Emmy Award winner Adam Bernstein (NBC's "30 Rock," "Rescue Me") is the director.
DAY ONE
From executive producer/writer Jesse Alexander ("Heroes," "Lost," "Alias") and director Alex Graves ("Fringe," "Journeyman"), "Day One" tells the story of life on earth following a global catastrophe that has devastated the world's infrastructures. Beginning with the immediate aftermath of the cataclysmic event, an eclectic band of survivors -- played by Adam Campbell ("Date Movie"), Catherine Dent ("The Shield"), Julie Gonzalo ("Eli Stone"), David Lyons ("ER"), Derek Mio ("Greek"), Carly Pope ("24"), Thekla Reuten ("Sleeper Cell") and Addison Timlin ("Cashmere Mafia") -- strives to rebuild society as they unravel the mysteries of what happened and face their uncertain future. The group, all residents of one apartment building in suburban Van Nuys, Calif., embarks on a quest for survival and discovers that hope is found in small victories -- and heroes are born every day. "Day One" is a Universal Media Studios production.
New Comedies
100 QUESTIONS (fka "100 Questions for Charlotte Payne")
Emmy winner James Burrows ("Will & Grace," "Friends") directs "100 Questions," a new comedy series written and executive-produced by Christopher Moynihan ("For Your Consideration") that provides hilarious answers to 100 questions about love. Charlotte Payne (Sophie Winkleman, "Peep Show") is looking for love and has rejected multiple marriage proposals -- but she has yet to meet Mr. Right. When she joins a popular online dating site, she gets a little help from her dating counselor Ravi (Amir Talai, "The Ex List") - who requires her to take a 100-question compatibility test. The questions aren't easy for Charlotte to answer, and each one requires her to recount a poignant and humorous time in her life with friends Leslie (Elizabeth Ho, "Women's Murder Club"), Jill (Joy Suprano, NBC's "Law & Order"), Mike (Christopher Moynihan "For Your Consideration") and Wayne (David Walton "Quarterlife"). The test becomes a journey of self-discovery for Charlotte who begins to realize what she truly wants in a relationship. Ron West ("Psych"), Kelly Kulchak ("Psych") and Michelle Nader ("King of Queens") join Moynihan as executive producers. The series is produced by Universal Media Studios and Tagline.
COMMUNITY
From Emmy Award-winning directors Joe and Anthony Russo ("Arrested Development") comes "Community," a smart comedy series about higher education -- and lower expectations. The student body at Greendale Community College is made up of high-school losers, newly divorced housewives, and old people who want to keep their minds active. Within these not-so-hallowed halls, "Community" focuses on a band of misfits, at the center of which is a fast-talkin' lawyer whose degree has been revoked (Joel McHale, "The Soup"), who form a study group and end up learning a lot more about themselves than they do about their course work. In addition to McHale, the series also stars: Gillian Jacobs ("The Book of Daniel"); Yvette Nicole Brown ("Rules of Engagement"); Danny Pudi ("Greek"); Alison Brie ("Mad Men"); and comedy legend Chevy Chase ("Saturday Night Live"). "Community" is a Krasnoff Foster Entertainment, Harmonious Claptrap and Russo Brothers production in association with Sony Pictures Television and Universal Media Studios. Russ Krasnoff ("The Soloist"), Dan Harmon ("The Sarah Silverman Program"), Joe Russo ("Arrested Development"), Anthony Russo ("Arrested Development") and Gary Foster ("The Soloist") serve as executive producers. Joe and Anthony Russo directed the pilot that was written by Dan Harmon.
Shared Time Period Strategy Around NBC's Broadcast of 2010 Winter Olympics Along with Jay Leno at 10 p.m. Enables Network to Broadcast Original Programming Year-Round
Network Renews Returning Series "Law & Order" and "Chuck"
NEW YORK - May 19, 2009 – NBC announced today its 2009-2010 schedule featuring more original programming than ever before and a shared time-period strategy around NBC's Olympics platform that, along with "The Jay Leno Show" (Mondays-Fridays 10-11 p.m. ET), allows the network to broadcast all-new content year-round.
In addition, NBC issued renewals to "Law & Order" and "Chuck" (see accompanying release) as part of its strong slate of new and returning shows announced recently at the network's highly successful Infront.
"NBC has picked up more scripted shows than last season even with "The Jay Leno Show" at 10 p.m.," said Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. "We're incredibly excited about our new and returning series and have more comedy programming than anyone else, as well as two of the most buzzed about new shows, 'Community' and 'Parenthood.' We can't wait for the fall."
"We are extremely proud to introduce these strong new series to NBC's schedule next season in strategic timeslots that position them for success," said Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios. "They join some of the highest quality returning shows on television, which will serve as a strong foundation to the new schedule. I think viewers are going to be happy to see this lineup of great new shows that will truly fit the NBC legacy of quality, culturally defining shows."
NBC's shared time period strategy will kick off this fall on Mondays with the premiere of "Heroes" (8-9 p.m. ET) continuing with all originals before "Chuck" assumes the time period after the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, which will be a powerful launching platform with its broad, female appeal and strong ratings as the most-watched event of the year. Using "NBC Sunday Night Football's" potent promotional platform, the new high-octane drama "Trauma" will debut Mondays (9-10 p.m. ET) with the epic event series "Day One" taking over the time period following the Olympics.
NBC's successful "The Biggest Loser" series continues Tuesdays (8-10 p.m.) and will help launch the new Wednesday lineup this fall, with the new family drama "Parenthood" debuting (8-9 p.m. ET) and the new hospital drama "Mercy" assuming the time period post-Olympics. "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" will air 9-10 p.m. ET following "Parenthood."
NBC's Thursday marquee comedy night will begin with the only live comedy between 8-10 p.m. on any network, "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday" (8-8:30 p.m. ET), followed by "Parks and Recreation" (8:30-9 p.m. ET), "The Office" (9-9:30 p.m. ET) and the new comedy "Community" (9:30-10 p.m. ET). After "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday" completes its multi-week run, "Community" will move to 8 p.m. and "30 Rock" will debut at 9:30 p.m., enabling NBC to feature more original comedy than ever before.
On Fridays in the fall, the enduring drama "Law & Order" will return for its record 20th season (tying "Gunsmoke" as the longest running drama series in primetime) and will lead off at 8-9 p.m. (ET) while "Southland" follows at 9-10 p.m. (ET), building a great crime block.
Saturdays will be a showcase for "Dateline NBC" (8-9 p.m. ET) and encore episodes of "Trauma" (9-10 p.m. ET) and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (10-11 p.m. ET).
"Football Night in America" (7-8:20 p.m. ET) and " NBC Sunday Night Football" (8:20-11 p.m. ET) – the number one show of the fall -- will return on Sundays in the fall with a fan-pleasing schedule of games to round out the fall season.
Utilizing the compatible demographics provided by the Olympics, NBC will launch the premieres of "The Marriage Ref" from executive producers Jerry Seinfeld and Ellen Rakieten ("Oprah") on Sundays (8-9 p.m. ET) and the third season premiere of "The Celebrity Apprentice" on Sundays with two-hour editions (9-11 p.m. ET). In addition, the new comedy "100 Questions" will debut on Tuesdays (9:30-10 p.m. ET) following a 90-minute edition of "The Biggest Loser" (8-9:30 p.m. ET).
And coming in the summer 2010, NBC will telecast all original episodes of "The Jay Leno Show," "Friday Night Lights," "America's Got Talent," "Breakthrough with Tony Robbins," "Dateline NBC," with additional programs to be announced later.

Brian Damage 05-04-2009, 10:33 AM Community sounds promising, but eh to these shows.
Pavan 05-04-2009, 11:09 AM Blog story: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2009/05/nbcs-2009-2010-series-pick-ups-wgn.html
Let's keep try to keep it quiet here until a schedule is released.
robyrob 05-04-2009, 11:26 AM seriously, if Chuck isn't in their plans for the fall they should just throw in the towel.
Brian Damage 05-04-2009, 01:01 PM seriously, if Chuck isn't in their plans for the fall they should just throw in the towel.
Agreed
Bah.
If Chuck doesn't come back I won't be watching. They can go away (along with The CW) for all I care.
JulieSomoski 05-04-2009, 03:26 PM Having an Infront makes no sense to me at all. I guess renewals like Medium and Chuck aren't ready to be made yet . . .
Brent88 05-04-2009, 04:22 PM Having an Infront makes no sense to me at all. I guess renewals like Medium and Chuck aren't ready to be made yet . . .
I don't get the point of it either. NBC is a total mess.
Chuck doesn't deserve to come back and I really don't see space for it with Leno taking up 5 hours a week and all the new shows.
Anyway, saw clips of the shows and I thought the best were Parenthood and Mercy. Community was okay, Trauma looked like a movie and very expensive that I'm not sure will work(reminds me of Southland which is failing even though it's renewed), and 100 Questions was dreadful.
Having an Infront makes no sense to me at all. I guess renewals like Medium and Chuck aren't ready to be made yet . . .
I agree. NBC is one screwed up network.
I would imagine shows like Medium and Chuck are expensive to produce compared to some of the others. I don't get the point in renewing Southland either, the ratings aren't good at all.
yankeesrj12 05-04-2009, 04:33 PM Are both of the comedies single camera?
JulieSomoski 05-04-2009, 05:02 PM Are both of the comedies single camera?
100 Questions is multi-camera, but a bad one at that. Have you seen the previews? They're terrible.

Chuck really doesn't deserve to be renewed, in all honesty. But, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see it return. Seems like NBC is going to want to stock up on extra shows of Leno ends up failing. They could get it out by January and get the 10pm hour back to shoes like Medium and Law & Order.
I really don't see where Chuck would even go if renewed. It really won't have a spot on the schedule to air. At best I could see it airing Sundays, maybe even Saturdays.
Mr. Television 05-04-2009, 05:08 PM seriously, if Chuck isn't in their plans for the fall they should just throw in the towel.
I agree. NBC is just a joke of a network anyway. I can't believe they're giving 5 hours a week to Jay Leno. They should have kept him on the Tonight Show if they didn't want to lose him.
Mr. Television 05-04-2009, 05:10 PM Having an Infront makes no sense to me at all. I guess renewals like Medium and Chuck aren't ready to be made yet . . .
NBC is stupid. They didn't give out a schedule. They didn't announce all of the renewals. What was the point.
JulieSomoski 05-04-2009, 05:45 PM NBC is stupid. They didn't give out a schedule. They didn't announce all of the renewals. What was the point.
I guess the point was to get advertisers more involved. But, I don't get that, either. The real reason: NBC thinks they're the most important networks, and wanted to getout their early pickups first. They are a stupid network
yankeesrj12 05-04-2009, 10:25 PM 100 Questions is multi-camera, but a bad one at that. Have you seen the previews? They're terrible.
At least they are moving in the right direction, a multi-cam!!!!! :)
No, I have not seen previews.
My fall schedule if I were NBC :
Sunday : "Sunday Night Football"
Monday : "Mercy" / "Heroes"
Tuesday : "The Biggest Loser" (2-hour)
Wednesday : "Trauma" / "Law & Order : Special Victim Unit"
Thursday : "Community" / "100 Questions" / "The Office" / "30 Rock"
Friday : "Chuck" / "Parenthood"
JulieSomoski 05-05-2009, 04:10 PM At least they are moving in the right direction, a multi-cam!!!!! :)

You're absolutely right. Quality aside, this is a good direction for NBC. I'd love to see it do well, because it could more much more multicams at NBC in the future.
JulieSomoski 05-05-2009, 04:15 PM If I were NBC, here's a sked I'd do:
Mondays:
8pm Medium
9pm Southland/Day one
Tuesdays:
8pm Biggest Loser
9:30 100 Questions
Wednesdays:
8:00 Mercy/Trauma (midseason)
9:00 SVU
Thursdays:
8pm Community
8:30 Parks & Rec
9:00 The Office
9:30 30 Rock
Fridays:
8pm Law & Order
9pm Parenthood
Saturdays (midseason)
8pm Chuck
9pm Law & Order repeats
Sundays (midseason)
7pm Dateline
8pm Heroes
9:00 Celebrity Apprentice
tbswatcher 05-05-2009, 06:15 PM Here's my NBC Fall Schedule
Monday
8pm Heroes
9pm Southland | Day One (Midseason)
Tuesday
8pm Biggest Loser
9:30pm Parks and Recreation
Wednesday
8pm Trauma | Mercy (Midseason)
9pm Medium
Thursday
8pm The Office
8:30pm 30 Rock
The new sitcoms need two strong lead-ins.
9pm Community
9:30pm 100 Questions
Friday
8pm Chuck
9pm Law and Order
Saturday
8pm Law and Order repeats
9pm Parenthood
Sunday (Midseason)
7pm Dateline
8pm Law and Order: SVU
9pm Celebrity Apprentice
JulieSomoski 05-07-2009, 03:26 PM For Sundays in midseason, I could see NBC doing a Heroes/Celebrity Apprentice/Medium schedule from 8-10pm. Seeing Monday's ratings, the show did around 6.4 million at 9pm, but did 8 million at 10pm - NBC may be smart to leave it at 10pm, which would be open on Sundays.
TVgeek14 05-08-2009, 03:20 AM screw you all for bashing NBC.NBC are trying to get back to the top and yes they may be a mess right now but this season they will improve.Their fall shows look very promising.Trauma,Mercy,Jay Leno and Community i think will succed.Parenthood and 100 Questions will flop.
Just My Opinion.

http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2009/05/week-33-ratings-and-analysis-how.html
And let us know what you think of our prediction.
Mr. Television 05-10-2009, 05:49 PM I agree NBC is a mess. I'm not really excited about any of NBC's new shows.
JulieSomoski 05-10-2009, 08:49 PM LOL - Pavan, on the blog you said Celebrity Apprentice doesn't do well with expanded finales? Last year's finale was 2 hours, and did over 12 million viewers, 4 million more than its season average.
Honestly, I'm not liking your lineup much at all. When did NBC say they'd be keeping Heroes on Mondays? I think it would have a much better chance at a rebound on Sundays - Mondays are just too crowded for this declining show. I don't see BL going to 1-hour. It'll at least be 90 minutes, maybe with one of the new sitcoms, or P&R going at 9:30. SVU at 8pm? Does it really seem like an 8pm show? If NBC sticks it there, it could easily die slowly. And I just don't see NBC wasting 2 hours on Dateline this fall. It'll be on Sundays at 7pm in midseason, but to waste it Fridays at 8pm in the fall? A lineup of L&O/Medium would be much better.
Pavan 05-10-2009, 11:46 PM And what did that finale face? Strike programming (Lost repeat)? The expanded finales for Apprentice don't work. I'm talking about the tons of filler, not ratings. And as for ratings, it won't get 12 million tonight for sure.
Silverman clearly said in an interview that he wants Heroes on Mondays in the fall. And why would they put Heroes on Sundays after NFL ends when there would be a big break for the Olympics? They are already launching Day One after the Olympics...that would tell you Heroes would be for fall. I wouldn't downgrade BL either to 60 minutes, but that is there highest rated show really and they need to put their best pilot on there, and that is clearly Parenthood. And Parenthood would fit that audience more than a sitcom. Where did I say Dateline is 2 hours? I only have it for Fridays at 8. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if there is Dateline (or Deal or No Deal) on Friday. That is the only thing that worked for NBC this year on Fridays. They are NOT going to have both Law & Order and Medium in the fall. Why would they put them both on the fall schedule when they need to stock up in case Leno fails? I don't think Chuck is going to come crawling to help NBC if Leno fails. Law & Order has already done decent on a Friday, while Medium is untested there. Not valid points, Julie.
benjamoon 05-11-2009, 12:33 AM This is what I would do for NBC, not necessarily what I think they would do
Sundays
7:00 Football Night in America
8:00 Sunday Night Football
Mondays
8:00 Heroes
9:00 Trauma
Tuesdays
8:00 Biggest Loser
9:30 Community
Wednesdays
8:00 Law & Order: SVU
9:00 Parenthood
Thursdays
8:00 SNL Weekend Update/100 Questions
8:30 30 Rock
9:00 The Office
9:30 Parks and Recreation
Fridays
8:00 Dateline
9:00 Medium
Saturdays
8:00 Dateline
9:00 Law & Order
10:00 Southland
Midseason: Chuck, My Name is Earl (?), Day One, Mercy, The Marriage Ref
JulieSomoski 05-11-2009, 09:53 AM And what did that finale face? Strike programming (Lost repeat)? The expanded finales for Apprentice don't work. I'm talking about the tons of filler, not ratings. And as for ratings, it won't get 12 million tonight for sure.

Celebrity Apprentice was definitely lots of filler last night, but overall a nice finale for a great season. I'd think it hit at least 10 million last night. It was getting a lot of buzz for the finale, so my guess is it beat B&S finale last night in the 10pm hour, as you know CA always builds up in the last half hour.
I'm expecting both Leno and Conan to fail. Conan will most likely be a huge bust, where Leno will do disappointing ratings as well. What will happen if this happens, though, is anyone's guess. I don't see NBC yanking Leno off by January, though. They'll at least give him the entire season to see what he can do.
Therefore, why need to stock up? Both Law & Order and Medium are strong enough to anchor Fridays by themselves. Law & Order always did well on Fridays before, and while Medium never aired there, if it airs at 9pm, it could do damage to CBS by taking Ghost Whisperer's audience. Why not try it out?
I just don't see the point of airing Heroes for 18-20 episodes starting in the fall. Viewers clearly hate these mini-hiatuses from November-February. They should just air the season straight through from now on. With just 6 million viewers, how much longer can it last?
Biggest Loser will be weak at 8pm. With or without Idol airing at 8pm, BL is always weak in the 8pm hour, but manages to grow heavily in the 9pm hour. Without the 9pm hour, chances are BL won't get as high of ratings its currently getting. At least make it 90 minutes. NBC should really put Parks & Rec at 9:30 after it. It needs a lead-in to help it out. NBC clearly likes it, and why else would they renew it if they didn't want to help it out?
As for Dateline, like I said, we'll likely see it Sundays at 7pm, but to take a slot in the fall where a drama could air and succeed is crazy. It's been getting 4-6 million - are these the ratings NBC wants to stick with? And proven how Deal or No Deal is officially dead in primetime, Chuck is looking a lot better to NBC I'm sure.
Pavan 05-11-2009, 11:32 AM Julie, if Heroes gets an 18 episode order, it will air Sept. 21-Dec. 14 and come back Jan. 4, so it would just have a 2 week break before finishing Feb. 8. If NBC wants their best pilot to succeed it would need to air behind BL. Why put Parenthood on Fridays, like you suggested? And Chuck on Saturdays? It makes no sense to have both Medium and L&O in the fall.
I think the best option for "Heroes" is a shorter season with 16 episodes that could air only in the fall without any break and with a 2-hour premiere and /or a 2-hour finale. They could also start the season early in september to avoid the heavy competiton with CBS sitcoms, FOX dramas and of course, Dancing With The Stars.

http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2009/05/week-33-ratings-and-analysis-how.html
And let us know what you think of our prediction.
Not bad. My biggest doubts are The Biggest Loser going down to an hour(that's really the only good slot for Parenthood but I dunno if it'll happen) and SVU on Wednesday at 8. I would do this:
Mondays
Heroes
SVU(no CBS crime competition)
Tuesdays
Biggest Loser
Parenthood or a comedy if it's 90 minutes(100 Questions?)
Wednesdays
Southland
Trauma
Thursdays
Parks and Recreation
30 Rock
The Office
Community
Fridays
Dateline
Law and Order
OR
Law and Order
Medium
Pavan 05-11-2009, 06:22 PM That is good, too. I'm just predicting what NBC would do, but not my own preference. Knowing NBC they will mess something up somewhere. I highly doubt both L&O and Medium would be both on the fall, though. If they are, NBC is stupid.

Medium is definitely a 10pm show in some of its content. NBC would probably be smartest leaving this for midseason incase Leno does tank, because it can easily be slotted for Mondays at 10pm again. What do you think of Medium for Sundays at 10pm come midseason??
If not, I don't see why it would be so bad to have both L&O and Medium on Fridays next season. Both got almost identical ratings last week at 10pm - both over 8 million. And for Fridays, NBC could finally succeed if they placed these 2 shows here.
If they are, NBC is stupid.lol...I think that's already a given!
mgsports 05-12-2009, 12:58 PM Sunday Nights- Football Night Friday Night Lights and so on
Monday's Comedies to go up against CBS's Comedies
Tuesday's Parenthood and Heroes
Wednesday's Southland and Trauma
Thursday's Same as know
Friday's Dateline and Law and Order
Saturday's Deal or No Deal, another Game show intill Donald Trump's Show comes back and Biggest Loser
Medium,Chuck and so on came be saved if new shows get canceled.
Brent88 05-13-2009, 04:22 PM Oh dear... what a DREADFUL schedule:
I've confirmed this is a 2009/2010 schedule that may be the final one, but is one that NBC is definitely considering. As I expected, it has Chuck (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/chuck/EP00930779) returning. Though I do find it surprising that the network would put critical hit Southland on Friday night, usually considered dead air. The last I heard about Law & Order, the financial wrangling for the show with Dick Wolf is settled. But the series probably won't get a full order and will just fill in gaps in the schedule later on.
MONDAY -- TRAUMA, Heroes (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/heroes/EP00848361), Leno
TUESDAY -- Biggest Loser (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/the-biggest-loser/EP00696201), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/law-and-order-special-victims-unit/EP00316978), Leno
WEDNESDAY -- Biggest Loser (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/the-biggest-loser/EP00696201), PARENTHOOD, Leno
THURSDAY -- 30 Rock (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/30-rock/EP00848357), P&R, Office, COMMUNITY, Leno
FRIDAY -- Chuck (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/chuck/EP00930779), Southland, Leno
SATURDAY -- Re-runs
SUNDAY -- Football
SUNDAY (January) -- Dateline, Apprentice, MERCY

Hmm, Biggest Loser in 2 60 minute installments; never thought of that.
Mr. Television 05-13-2009, 05:01 PM I can see NBC going with that schedule. I don't really like having Chuck on Fridays but it's better than nothing. Any schedule that NBC comes up with isn't going to be that great with Leno on 5 nights a week.

I couldn't agree more. Seriously - 30 Rock at 8pm? Chuck and . . . Southland, on Fridays? BL on 2 nights? Obviously NBC has much bigger problems than we thought
JulieSomoski 05-13-2009, 11:10 PM Hey Pavan - I'm hearing Medium hasn't gotten renewed yet because Patricia Arquette is requesting a full 22 episode season, instead of the 16 NBC was once again hoping for. Any truth in this?

NBC does need a veteran sitcom to lead off Thursday and 30 Rock is all they have if they don't renew Earl. P&R isn't strong enough to lead off the night. BL is one of their strongest series (that doesn't say much lol) so I can see them splitting it into 2 nights in the hope that it could help the 9:00 shows on Tuesday and Wednesday. I agree that Chuck and Southland are a bad combination for Friday. I guess if they do this then they don't think much of them and don't see any growth potential. I don't really think any schedule that NBC puts together is going to be any good. Jay Leno is ruining NBC's primetime lineup. I just hope he fails.

My main problem with the schedule is that there's no rhyme or reason to it. Everything is just jumbled together. I would have though Community would have gone to Thursdays at 8pm. For one, it seems to so far be one of their stronger comedies they've had in awhile, and it seems like it would go great airing with Parks & Rec. Plus, 30 Rock just isn't that strong without The Office, as proven before. And with BL, it always builds throughout the half hours. It's lowest ratings always come at 8pm. And having both hours air at 8pm could mean trouble.
I hope Leno fails, too. I also hope Conan bombs bigtime, so Leno will return to The Tonight Show where he belongs. Of course, I'm living in a dream world ;)
Superbowl 05-13-2009, 11:27 PM If Chuck goes to Fridays it will be one and out. If it only got 6 million on Mondays it will surely be down to about 4 million on Fridays.

Just look at Prison Break and SCC - doing an okay 5-6 million on Mondays, but struggled to get over 3 million on Fridays.
browneyes106 05-13-2009, 11:51 PM None of the shows sound interesting. The only that interests me is Day One. I love Joel McHale but Community doesn't sound too interesting.
Mr. Television 05-13-2009, 11:59 PM Just look at Prison Break and SCC - doing an okay 5-6 million on Mondays, but struggled to get over 3 million on Fridays.
I think I'm one of the few Prison Break fans left. I can't wait to see how it ends. lol

I'm kind of surprised by its Friday ratings. You'd think the 5 million it had left would have followed it over to Fridays, but I guess not.
That's what I thought, Pavan. Deadline Hollywood isn't a reliable source by any means. That's good to know.

Maybe People just aren't watching it live. I've been watching it on Mondays at 10 after I watch Chuck and 24. Live TV isn't what it used to be.
Pavan 05-14-2009, 05:11 PM Chuck isn't exactly a DVR hit either.
Iowayboy 05-16-2009, 01:18 PM If Leno were Seinfeld, we might have something to talk about on NBC this fall. As it is, I'm afraid it is mostly going to be another season of "so what, who cares?" I haven't tuned into this great, old network since they moved "Earl" away from Tuesdays. I watch the show, but on DVD.
The only new show that has caught my attention at all is TRAUMA. It looks like Emergency! on steroids. It could be breathtaking, . . . or it could fizzle.
The last time NBC was in such disarray, Johnny Carson would make jokes about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Well, here we are again, so let's get to rearranging.
SUNDAY: Football
MONDAY: TRAUMA / Law & Order: SVU / Leno
TUESDAY: Biggest Loser / MERCY / Leno
WEDNESDAY: Loser Results / PARENTHOOD / Parks & Rec. / Leno
THURSDAY: Sat. Nite Live / COMMUNITY / Office / 30 Rock / Leno
FRIDAY: Chuck / Heroes / Leno

Will and Grace Fanatic 05-16-2009, 01:36 PM i like the Jay Leno idea but i doubt he will have really huge ratings. And I just don't get NBC anymore. They let shows stick around that only get around six million viewers. What the heck? Maybe if they just cancelled all those low rated shows and put new shows on they might increase there ratings.
Mr. Television 05-17-2009, 04:12 PM Chuck is close to a pickup.

JulieSomoski 05-17-2009, 04:43 PM Leno will most likely do 3-5 million. It'll probably do best on nights like Wednesday and Friday, where the competition is light. The demo will be low, though.
Brent88 05-17-2009, 05:12 PM Yeah, I don't see Leno being competitive with ABC or CBS at all. I think this is a terrible idea to do it 5 nights a week. They should do it on only 1 or 2 nights.
I wouldn't miss Earl. I never liked that show. Good Chuck news.
I have a hard time seeing them renewing both Medium AND Chuck, though.

I don't. They need backup. Medium is more of a stable hit than Chuck is, so if NBC is content in renewing Chuck, I couldn't see them cancelling Medium because of it.
But Earl - was the a series low for its season finale? This show deserves to be cancelled.
Mr. Television 05-17-2009, 09:26 PM Chuck just got renewed for a 3rd season with 13 episodes. It looks like one of the regulars might get fired though.

I don't blame them, though. CBS studios has taken this 16 episode stuff for 2 seasons now. First I heard it was Patricia Arquette that wanted the 22 episodes, but now its CBS?
Moving to CBS, though - if that were to happen, CBS may have found their Friday at 9pm show. It would be a natural fit for that time slot.

NBC has never treated Medium with respect. At one time, it was one of their higher rated shows until they kept benching it all the time. Here's another article about a possible jump to CBS.
http://www.tvweek.com/tvmojoe/2009/05/medium-could-be-on-the-move.php
'Medium' Could Be on the Move
"Medium" could be on the move.
Negotiations between NBC and CBS Television Studios are said to be at an impasse, leading to informed speculation that the show could be headed to the CBS Television Network.
NBC had been looking to bring back "Medium," but with a deal similar to what the network negotiated last year: A firm 13-episode pickup with an option to expand the order to 22 episodes later in the season. That's the deal NBC brokered with CBS's studio arm last year; the network eventually increased its commitment to a full season.
It's also understood that NBC is looking for a discount off of the full license fee CBS is seeking. Such breaks have become common place this year as networks seek to trim costs wherever possible.
But despite the tough economy, CBS Television Studios doesn't appear to be in the mood to play ball with NBC. It is holding firm on its desire to get a 22 episode order at full license fee.
Such a position is hardly unreasonable. "Medium" is headed into its sixth season, and as such, it's fairly standard for such a veteran series to snag a full season, full license fee order.
But industry insiders believe CBS Television Studios has a strong desire to keep "Medium" on the air, because the studio reaps syndication profits for every episode produced. Allowing the show to die would mean throwing away money.
That's why industry insiders believe CBS Television Studios is likely planning to simply move the show to its sister network. The female-led crime drama would be a good fit for CBS, with 9 p.m Friday after "The Ghost Whisperer" a logical destination.
If this is CBS's plan, the network would no doubt prefer to announce the move Wednesday during its upfront presentation. However, NBC's rights to "Medium" at the end of the week. That could make it difficult for CBS to tout the arrival of a show to which it technically doesn't yet have the rights.
Reps for CBS Television Studios and NBC declined comment.
SIDENOTE: If "Medium" does end up Fridays at 9 on CBS, it would be a homecoming of sorts for creator Glenn Gordon Caron. His underappreciated CBS drama "Now and Again" aired Fridays on CBS during the 1999-2000 season.
JulieSomoski 05-17-2009, 11:18 PM I wouldn't mind seeing Medium jump to CBS. Fridays at 9pm would be perfect for it. I'm sure its NBC audience would follow over, as well as the GW audience. Too bad it probably won't happen, though.
Brent88 05-17-2009, 11:39 PM NBC would be stupid to give up Medium, but they've always treated it badly considering it's one of their higher-rated shows. If it were to move to CBS Fridays, it would be an unstoppable duo with Ghost Whisperer.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :happyface :D :D
I agree with Brent on Medium/Ghost Whisperer on CBS. That would be a hand/glove fit. While I have never been able to get in to the show, I agree that it is a good quality show that NBC has not treated properly.

Agreed. Ghost Whisperer could definitely help Medium's ratings, and the entire night could benefit. Clearly, Medium still has a strong fanbase. But, I think many of its viewers left when they realized how badly NBC treated it. It could definitely get those viewers back if it moved to CBS.

Well this is as good a schedule as NBC can get. It's so depressing seeing only 10 hours of programming though. ohno:
Community and 30 Rock should be switched.
Pavan 05-19-2009, 11:09 AM NBC's schedule is now up:
http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2009/05/abc-and-nbc-upfront-2009-10-fall-2009.html
Press release is on page one on the first post of this thread.
Brent88 05-19-2009, 11:17 AM Mondays: I don't have much hope for this night. Heroes (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/heroes/EP00848361) is too weak to launch anything and the night is already too crowded with big shows on ABC/CBS/FOX.
Tuesdays: Solid.
Wednesdays: Parenthood has a good chance but I feel like Special Victims Unit (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/law-and-order-special-victims-unit/EP00316978) is going to get killed against Criminal Minds (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/criminal-minds/EP00753791).
Thursdays are blah. Nothing really changed here, it will be 4th place.
Fridays are actually decent, Law & Order (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/law-and-order/EP00017617)/Southland will be a perfect match and I think will both do okay.
Won't comment on midseason since it'll probably change, but I will say Chuck (http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/chuck/EP00930779) staying on Mondays and not coming back til midseason will be the final nail in the coffin.
Overall a decent schedule for NBC considering what they have.
Brent88 05-19-2009, 11:40 AM Medium is canceled! But yet Chuck lives? NBC is stupid, oh and way too much Leno. That's gonna get very old very fast.
Earl also canceled, but no surprise there
Not that bad, pretty much what I was expecting.
This network is going nowhere, I almost feel like filing them in the Ion and CW category
Medium and Earl are dead.
Pavan, btw, does MNTV do anything around this time?
Pavan 05-19-2009, 11:49 AM Law & Order has a 16 episode order and the lack of demand killed Earl and Medium, Silverman says. The online campaign saved Chuck. Heroes will air for 19 weeks (finale likely Feb. 8). As mentioned on the blog, Friday Night Lights will have its NBC premiere in summer 2010.
Not sure when MyNetwork TV has their upfront.
mgsports 05-19-2009, 02:23 PM Maybe somebody will pick Earl and Medium. They could have put them on Saturday's.
JulieSomoski 05-19-2009, 03:01 PM Unbelievable. While the fall schedule really isn't that bad, I can't believe Medium was cancelled, yet Chuck was renewed. I am so pissed right now.
I mean, what are the chances that CBS is actually going to pick it up? Well, I think a "Save Medium" campaign is in order right now.
GolfDude 05-19-2009, 03:28 PM wonder how this affects Deal or No Deal since they were moving to Conneticut to cut costs.. they arent even on the schedule.. not even another game show at all either planned...

Considering how badly its done this month, it will go entirely to syndication.
Pavan 05-19-2009, 05:32 PM CBS has picked-up Medium, I'm hearing.
Mr. Television 05-19-2009, 06:13 PM I'm not really excited about anything NBC has to offer...maybe I'll check Community out but that's it. Chuck won't be on until March in the same killer timeslot. Earl is gone. SVU might not have Stabler and Benson. If they're gone then I'm not watching it. NBC will still be in 4th at the same time next year.
TV_Fan 05-19-2009, 06:25 PM NBC now has nothing left for me to watch and I'm glad. Let this network's steady death continue. CBS will pick up Medium & hopefully Fox will pick up Earl. Even if they don't Earl wouldn't bother me much being cancelled. That show's been going downhill for a long time. As long as Medium is on I'm happy. At least CBS will treat it properly and with the respect it deserves.

tv star collector 05-20-2009, 10:37 AM As long as Heroes has been picked up, I'm good. It's the only NBC show
that I watch now.
robyrob 05-20-2009, 11:18 AM even Heroes has been going downhill lately, this past season certainly wasn't anything close to the excitement of the first season and I don't think they can squeeze that much more out of the series.
I am happy about Chuck, i watch 30 Rock and of course SNL; everything else they have is useless to me.
TV_Fan 05-20-2009, 01:28 PM Mediums fans rejoice! It's official, CBS pick up Medium & placed it on Fridays at 9PM! Ha Ha in your face NBC!
It would be difficult for the affiliates, but they could scale back and go to being a 2 hour network if Leno fails and money's tight.
Mr. Television 05-20-2009, 05:27 PM While the producers of My Name is Earl are talking with ABC and Fox, it looks like TBS is interested in it.

Buffyboy323 05-22-2009, 11:11 PM Along with "The Office," "30 Rock," "Law & Order: SVU," and probably "Southland," I'll be watching "Parenthood" and "Trauma" on NBC in the fall. "Community" sounds funny, so I'll check that out as well. As for midseason, I'll most likely add "Mercy" to my list.
"Day One" sounds like another "Lost" ripoff - with a mix of "Jericho." Of course it's too early to tell, but I don't see it staying around too long.
And I don't think Jay Leno will do too well in primetime.

Giving the 10:00 hour to Jay Leno was a horrible idea. Parenthood looks like it will be the best of the new shows, so hopefully it will be great and hit big. Well, as big as NBC can hit these days.
And Friday Night Lights returning in summer 2010??? If people weren't watching when it was on in the fall/winter, why would they watch it in the summer, when barely anyone watches tv? It's such a bad move - especially considering the demo the show is aimed at.

Giving up Jay on the Tonight Show was their mistake. They just tried to make things right by giving him 10pm. I think their whole plan will be a disaster, though. I can't believe Leno only has a week left :(
Mr. Television 05-23-2009, 08:44 AM I read an article where it said that even if Jay comes in last place that NBC still will be better off because his show is cheaper to make than any script show. I guess Silverman was right when he said that coming in first doesn't matter to him. :ohno:

That's horrible. They could produce five more shows a week in hopes that one or two of them will hit big and actually make them some money, instead of just giving up. I think giving Jay Leno the 10:00 slot five nights a week is a way of saying "we don't care anymore." Leno's show will save them money, but it could also end up costing them money later on.
James28 05-25-2009, 05:33 AM NBC sure has gotten rid of a lot of its shows to make room for its five-day-a-week The Jay Leno Show. If some major broadcast network wants to save space for a five-days-a-week talk show for their new fall season, they would have to cancel a lot of television programmes.
JulieSomoski 05-25-2009, 11:23 PM I see NBC is promoting next week's Medium as the series finale. It says in the promo "After 5 long years, the finale of Medium is finally here." Hopefully CBS will be promoting the show over the summer. Next week's episode does seem like a series finale, though. I wonder if that'll have any effect on future episodes.

JulieSomoski 07-10-2009, 07:26 PM Wow - an 8 week examination? Hopefully Maura Tierney is okay, but this sounds serious. But, this really sucks - Parenthood was the only new drama I was going to watch this season. Mercy is going to crash and burn so badly NBC might have no choice but to bring in Parenthood in November or so, if Maura is better of course.

Pavan 11-21-2009, 12:30 AM In January it is 2-hours at least every week. NBC is not launching anything besides Chuck before the Olympics. And Heroes is done Feb. 8...maybe for good?
JulieSomoski 11-21-2009, 12:52 AM In January it is 2-hours at least every week. NBC is not launching anything besides Chuck before the Olympics. And Heroes is done Feb. 8...maybe for good?
I believe Heroes has 18-20 episodes this season (was an exact amount given?). It'll be done for the fall on December 7th, which would be episode 13. Episode 14-15 will air on January 4th, January 11th-February 8th will then be episodes 16-20. So, I'd say the February 8th airing would be the season finale. The show is doing atrocious ratings this season - why NBC would ever consider renewing it yet again is beyond me.
I'm guessing 100 Questions will take the place of Parks & Recreation in March/April then, while BL remains 2 hours all season. They still have miniseries Day One, Parenthood, 6 more Trauma episodes, Celebrity Apprentice, and Breakthrough with Tony Robbins. CA will probably go to Sundays 9-11pm again in March with Dateline at 7-9pm. I could see Mercy moving to Fridays with Law & Order. Chuck will probably stay on Mondays, maybe airing with Parenthood in March? Trauma, and then Day One, could then go to Wednesdays at 8pm.

By TIM ARANGO and BILL CARTER
Published: November 30, 2009
General Electric has reached a tentative agreement with the French media conglomerate Vivendi that clears the way for the sale of NBC Universal, including the flagship NBC network, to Comcast, the nation’s largest cable operator, people briefed on the deal said Monday.
Under terms of the deal, G.E. will buy Vivendi’s 20 percent stake in NBC Universal for about $5.8 billion. It removes one of the few remaining hurdles in its plan to sell control of the television and movie company to Comcast in a $30 billion agreement that reflects the changing landscape of broadcast television.
While a deal between G.E. and Comcast still could hit a snag over the final price, it is considered highly likely: G.E. wants to sell NBC because of rising losses, and Comcast wants to buy it to control more of the television programs and movies that flow through its cable systems.
The final threads may take days to sew up and there is a tentative plan to announce a final deal on Thursday, according to these people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the negotiations are not complete.
While the agreement still could fall apart, G.E.’s decision to sell NBC Universal reflects the shifts in fortune that are battering the media business, especially network television.
G.E. executives had insisted until very recently that they had no interest in selling NBC Universal, even as they tried to interest suitors, like Time Warner and Comcast, through back-channel flirtations.
Their attempts grew more urgent after internal forecasts showed the once very profitable broadcast division of NBC Universal could lose big, a remarkable downturn for a network that had earned roughly $400 million in past years, according to an executive briefed on the matter. NBC has had an especially difficult few years in prime time, where the network, once home to “Seinfeld,” “Friends” and “E.R.,” is mired in last place.
Although the News Corporation, the conglomerate controlled by Rupert Murdoch, considered making an offer, Comcast was the lone serious suitor, a testament to the uncertain future of mainstream media, as the Internet has fractured audiences and few viable business models have emerged for the distribution of content online.
In 2003, when Vivendi held an auction for its Universal properties, many big media companies took part, including Comcast, Viacom, Cablevision, Liberty Media and MGM.
This time, there was only Comcast, which under its chief executive, Brian L. Roberts, has long harbored big ambitions of becoming a major producer of television and movies. In 2004, Comcast failed in a hostile takeover bid for the Walt Disney Company.
In the proposed deal, Comcast will contribute its own cable channels, which include Versus, the Golf Channel and the E Entertainment channel, and a modest amount of cash, about $5 billion, to a joint venture in which it will own 51 percent. G.E. will retain a 49 percent stake, and would likely reduce its ownership over several years.
In its size and melding of distribution of content and distribution, the proposed deal resembles the takeover of Time Warner by AOL. If Steve Case, the former head of AOL, was the public face of that failed merger, the public face of the proposed NBC-Comcast deal could well be Jay Leno.
Many others, however, said the deal is less about synergy than other media mergers. At least in theory, Comcast-NBC Universal will be a company separate from Comcast’s cable assets.
Instead, the deal is a bet by Comcast on how it can grow its business. It could use its power in film, with Universal Studios, to expand video-on-demand offerings by altering movie release windows to make movies available on demand the same day they are released on DVD, noted Craig Moffett, an analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein.
The broad parameters of the deal between G.E. and Comcast had been in place for weeks, but the deal could not be completed until a separate negotiation between G.E. and Vivendi was completed. Vivendi, the French conglomerate, owned 20 percent of NBC Universal as a remnant of a 2003 deal in which it sold Universal Studios and the cable networks USA and Syfy to G.E.
The Comcast deal, analysts note, would help G.E. reduce its debt as it tries to shore up its big finance arm, which got hit by the credit crisis. Over the years, they say, G.E. has revamped its portfolio of businesses at times, and Mr. Immelt is doing that again.

Brent88 12-14-2009, 03:48 PM Looks like NBC will be battling with The CW for 4th place. ohno: Mondays is a complete disaster, Parenthood has no shot surrounded by losers Chuck and Leno. Tuesdays-Fridays didn't change at all? Wednesday should have completely changed and the Thursday comedies should have been rearranged. Whatever. You think NBC's numbers are bad now? They'll be far worse when football is over.
Sunday does look decent but it'll only do a third of what football did at best. Not good at all.
JulieSomoski 12-14-2009, 05:43 PM Sadly, Sundays will probably be their highest rated night. The Marriage Ref, at least with Jerry Seinfeld behind it, will probably do well at first, while Celebrity Apprentice always competes, especially in the demo. Only question I have is how are they ever going to air the entire season on time? With 16 contestants and 2 months to air it, every episode will need to be a double elimination.
Agreed on Mondays. Chuck will die - again - and Parentood will bomb out against Men/BBT, Dancing, and 24. Parenthood should have gone to Wednesdays at 8pm as originally planned. SVU should have moved to Mondays at 9pm. Mercy could have stayed on Wednesdays, maybe at 9pm, or switched with Chuck for Mondays. Law & Order should have switched slots with Dateline, and they still have additional Trauma (which I'm guessing will take over for L&O once it ends), 100 Questions (probably for April in place of Parks & Rec), and 4 installments of Day One.

The re-imagined and updated production introduces audiences to the large and colorful yet imperfect Braverman family and features an all-star cast that includes Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson, Erika Christensen, and Bonnie Bedelia among others. Serving as executive producers are Oscar winners Ron Howard and Brian Grazer ("A Beautiful Mind," "Frost/Nixon"), Jason Katims ("Friday Night Lights") - who wrote the pilot episode - and David Nevins ("Friday Night Lights," "Arrested Development"). Emmy Award winner Thomas Schlamme ("The West Wing") is the director and executive producer of the pilot. "Parenthood" is from Imagine Television and Universal Media Studios.
"The Marriage Ref" - which has a special sneak preview following the Closing Ceremony of the Winter Olympics on February 28 - is NBC's new comedy panel series about the unpredictable and hilarious institution commonly known as marriage. It features comedian/actor Tom Papa, who was personally selected by executive producer Jerry Seinfeld to host and serve as the "marriage ref." The show will premiere in its regular slot on Thursdays (10-11 p.m. ET) beginning March 4.
"The Marriage Ref" is produced by Seinfeld's Columbus 81 Productions and Ellen Rakieten Entertainment. Seinfeld, Ellen Rakieten ("The Oprah Winfrey Show"), Shed Media's Nick Emmerson ("Supernanny") and Jennifer O'Connell ("Supernanny"), Al Berman ("The Biggest Loser Live Finale," "The Celebrity Apprentice Live Finale"), Howard West ("Seinfeld") and George Shapiro ("Seinfeld") serve as executive producers. International distribution is by Endemol.
"Who Do You Think You Are?" premieres Friday, March 5 (8-9 p.m. ET) and gives viewers an up-close and personal look inside the family history of some of today's most beloved and iconic celebrities. Among the celebrities featured are Matthew Broderick, Lisa Kudrow, Spike Lee, Sarah Jessica Parker, Susan Sarandon, Brooke Shields and Emmitt Smith. Ancestry.com is NBC's official partner on the series. From executive producer Kudrow ("Friends," "The Comeback") - in conjunction with her production company Is or Isn't Entertainment and the U.K.'s Wall to Wall productions - "Who Do You Think You Are?" is an adaptation of the hit BBC television documentary series created and executive-produced by Alex Graham.
"Who Do You Think You Are?" is produced by Wall to Wall productions (a Shed Media Company) in association with Is or Isn't Entertainment. Alex Graham and Lucy Carter from Wall to Wall and Lisa Kudrow, Dan Bucatinsky and Don Roos from Is or Isn't Entertainment are the executive producers. Bryn Freedman is the co-executive producer.
All-American chef and television personality Guy Fieri ("Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives") will host NBC's new game show "Minute to Win It" as it debuts on Sunday, March 14 (8-9 p.m. ET). Fieri will serve as master of ceremonies and will lead competitors through a series of simple, yet nerve-wracking games that can reward them a $1 million prize. Over eight one-hour episodes, competitors will face 10 challenges that escalate in level of difficulty using everyday household items. Each game has a 60-second time limit and failure to finish the task on time will eliminate the contestant. At various points throughout the game, the contestant can walk away with the money earned up to that point - but it'll take nerves of steel to complete all 10 tasks to win $1 million.
"Minute to Win It" is produced by Universal Media Studios with Friday Television. Craig Plestis, Tim Puntillo (NBC's "Identity"), Mattias Olsson and Jock Millgardh serve as executive producers.
The new post-Olympics program schedule grid follows (all times ET); new series are in upper case.

ryan423 01-14-2010, 08:35 PM Parenthood at 10 is a fantastic move on NBC's part, and now it won't be competing with CBS's strong comedy hour and ABC when "Dancing" returns. I'll also start watching SVU again since it doesn't coincide with Modern Family.
Chuck, Parenthood, SVU, and Community...
I don't remember the last time I watched this many shows on NBC, lol!

I'm intrigued by "Parenthood" but isn't it possible that it will be competing for the same general demographic as "The Good Wife" on CBS which airs at the same time now that it'll be Tuesdays at 10?
I actually think Wednesdays at 10 would have been a better fit against the weak "Ugly Betty" and "CSI: Miami" which might attract a different audience. "SVU" could have gone back to its old Tues slot

I don't think so. The Good Wife goes after the oldtimers. Parenthood is bound to have a much younger, stronger 18-49 based demo. Plus, sadly enough, Biggest Loser is the best lead-in they have to offer. They're banking on Parenthood to hit.

If it does hit, they can move it to a 9pm slot the following season to help out a new 10pm show. One hit show can help jumpstart the network again.

robyrob 02-08-2010, 09:02 PM PAV - after Saturday Night Live's "attack" on Burn Notice - how does the ratings for Burn Notice compare to any of NBC's shows?
I know that this season's premiere had 6 million viewers - soundly beating out whatever NBC showed at that time - but how is it doing recently/

Pavan 02-08-2010, 09:04 PM Weird that SNL attacked Burn Notice, since Burn Notice airs on USA Network, which is owned by NBC UNiversal. Shows how messed up NBC is still. And Burn Notice does 5-6 million or so. It beats NBC in its timeslot.

it was a sketch about a game show where all the contestants were supposed to tell the host ANYTHING about what the show Burn Notice is about - it wasn't very funny; it came off as kind of pathetic the way they were trying to imply that no one has ever heard of the show, especially when compared to most of NBC's shows on the air...

Normally I'd say good idea, but Mercy will be airing against Idol. MTWI will do better than Mercy would at 8pm, but Mercy will probably do no better than an SVU repeat.

It's a sad day in television in history. I hope NBC goes forward with the two hour wrap up movie. :)
