I am looking for a job to earn some money and a beauty salon was the first thing that came to mind. I'm not gay, so don't get the wrong idea. Obviously, I wouldn't be doing nails or hair as I have no knowledge in that area and don't care to learn. Basically, I'm just looking to sweep the floor or something like that.
I get my hair cut at a barber shop, so I don't know what goes on in a beauty salon. What can I possibly do in a beauty salon to earn money?

One of my friends used to work as an assistant in a beauty salon. Her duties were sweeping floors, doing the laundry which basically was washing towels, bibs, and gowns, sometimes she would wash people's hair if the stylists were busy. She helped do the inventory of the supplies and she would organize the supply cabinets. She liked her job at all the people she worked with were pretty cool and she made some friends with some of the customers.

I've seen guys work those kind of jobs at beauty shops before. It's no big deal.

you may be able to work as a janitor. i had a job like that once (though not in a beauty salon) and it made me realize how much work is needed to keep public buildings clean. hard floors need to be swept and mopped, carpets need to be vacuumed, windows need to be washed, trashes need to be taken out, furniture needs to be dusted and disinfected. there's a lot to do.

I'm mainly looking to sweep the floor and stuff like that. There's quite a few salons near where I live, so I guess I'm going to travel to a few and see if any are looking to hire.

My friend said she mostly swept floors and cleaned around the salon but occasionally when the salon was busy she helped out with additional duties.
