Just found out about her passing when TV Land aired a tribute to her just a few minutes ago, during a commercial break for The Andy Griffith Show.

I never knew that, either. But I had noticed in the last couple years, she seemed to suddenly be aging very fast. I assume this was related to the cancer and she might have been dealing with it privately for a long time.

She always came across as a deeply private person to me, so it is no surprise to me at all that she kept her illness secret. I'm just happy she went surrounded by her family.

Are they any plans for a TV land tribute with episodes of Maude?
