Sorry to keep harping on this, but this is something I need answered. Why in God's name does this show keep being taken away from us (Sony keeps removing the online episodes while refusing to put the rest of it out on DVD and back in reruns) while mindless, degrading crap like "One Tree Hill", "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Gossip Girl" keeps getting rammed down our throats??? I mean, is it because the girls on "FOL" didn't look like skinny, picture-perfect models and weren't catty and boy-crazy like the girls on all these more recent teen shows??? The way I see it, "Facts of Life" is a great, quality show that depicted teenage girls and young women as human beings, whereas shows like "One Tree Hill", "90210", "Gossip Girl" and "The Hills" show girls being all sex-obsessed, promiscuous, mean-spirited and impossibly skinny. Same thing even with other female-based shows like "Sex in the City" and "Desperate Housewives". It's funny how all the men on these shows are depicted as semi-human, but the women are all just catty mannequins. What is this world coming to?! And here I thought shows like "FOL" and "One Day at a Time" were supposed to change the way girls and women were being depicted on TV. Yet, all these highly sexist, mysoginistic and demeaning-to-women shows are constantly being shelled out on DVD, shown on television and full episodes are featured online. To me, this is totally warped. Just had to share. By the way, I meant to say shielded FROM this classic show.
