It will be two years ago tomorrow that my beloved dog Duke passed away after being very sick for a month. I took Duke's death really hard and still haven't gotten over it. I adopted a new dog, Bugle, a year ago. My family and I love Bugle with all our hearts, he's a wonderful dog. However, we still miss Duke terribly.

Aww I'm sorry, he looks cute..at least he lived for awhile though. 14 years is pretty impressive. It will be a year tomorrow, coincidentally since my grandmother's previous dog died; I think he was 14/15 when he died. We have another dog now; that's why I said previous. Maybe the 2 dogs are having a party right now on their anniversary . Just to lighten the mood a bit but I'm sorry again.

i'm sorry. :( i've not had the experience of a long-time pet dying and it kills me to think of how it will feel when i do. i don't blame you for not being over it. i know i'll be grieving my cat's loss for years and years.

RIP duke.

i'm very sorry mike. pets become such dear friends but unfortunately have such short lives. but duke has left his imprint on your heart and the joy he gave you will live on because of it.

my husband still misses his dog, andy, who died a month after his wife died of lung cancer. he stills thinks about andy to this day.

Awww. I'm sorry Mike. Duke was a very cute dog. :( I know how you feel. It 's been almost 4 years since I lost Coco and I still miss her. Pets are part of our families. They make us feel better when we're down and they love us unconditionally. They make the world a better place.

It's always hard to lose a pet (we've lost three!). But it is a very good thing that you've adopted another. While Duke will always hold a special place in your heart, there's always room for another pet to get inside!! :D

I'm sorry. It's hard. Last February it was a year since my dog Molly passed away. I grew up with her and sometimes I still think it's so strange that she's gone. We've since gotten another dog, Maggie who we love very much, because we needed a dog around the house, but my mom still talks about Molly all the time. We really miss her.

It's so difficult, Mike. Almost four years since losing our cat Foxy, who was 16 -- I can still cry just thinking of him. Still, time has softened the loss. I know you loved Duke with all of your heart. We learn that, like humans, one animal can't replace another. I got two cats after Foxy passed....Lily and Caesar. As with Bugle, we love them madly. They don't lessen how much we miss Foxy, as Bugle doesn't make you miss Duke any less. They live on in our hearts. I believe we'll see them again someday.

I'm sorry about Duke. Losing a pet is always hard. I still miss my cat Snowball who died almost eight years ago.

I know how hard it is. Last year my family lost our cat Chava. It was really sad. We still really miss him.

I am so sorry Mike. I know how much you must miss Duke. :bighug:

My family lost our beloved black lab eight years ago, and we still miss him. But now we can tell stories about him and look at pictures and it doesn't hurt as much as it used to...we can look back and remember the good times. I know Duke will always live in your heart!

I am sorry to hear about Duke, Mike. He was very cute and looked very friendly.

Pets are special to us and hold a place in our hearts forever. In the last seven years, I lost two cats, both due to cancer and old age. Clipper and Bambi were very special to me and I still think about them frequently.

I'm really sorry Mike, I totally know how it feels to lose a pet (a dog as well in my case). Just know that he's in a safe, happy place- my thoughts and prayers are with you.
