You didn't like "Marked For Death?" That was one of my favorite Steven Seagal flicks.
JamesG 04-23-2009, 07:49 PM You didn't like "Marked For Death?" That was one of my favorite Steven Seagal flicks.
Yes, I liked that one.
Must have slipped my mind when I was writing that. Seagal has so many movies out.
isiahthomas 04-24-2009, 04:39 PM Only Jet Li movies i like are Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 The Grave, Lethal Weapon 4. Anthony Anderson had me laughing at Romeo Must Die when he said to Jet Li, you didn't think you were gonna get them draws did you? LOL. Jet Li said huh? Anthony said i'm talking about Trisch(Aaliyah's character). You didn't think she was gonna give up the booty to you did you? Hahahahahahahahahahaha. So when Jet Li had ran away from Anthony and he was hiding, Anthony said hey rice noodle hahahahahahahahahaha. Anthony is a funny dude. He tried to jump over a trash dumpster in Exit Wounds movie with Steven Seagal and DMX to get away from Isaiah Washington after he hit him in the head with a stick. DMX jumped over the trash dumpster when him and Anthony were running. Anthony tried to jump over it and he got stuck on the side of the dumpster LOL. He said to DMX, pull me through man LOL. This dumpster is f*cking up my Versace sh*t. Come on dawg, pull me through hahahahahahahahahaha.
isiahthomas 04-24-2009, 04:44 PM JamesG remember in Commando movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger when he beat up those cops at the mall? Black dude cop was talking on his walkie talkie so he could get help from some cops and he was describing Arnold and he said he's one big gigantic muthaf*cka LOL. I also like the scene when Arnold ripped out Rae Dawn Chong's passenger car seat LOL. I like the scene when Arnold was hanging that guy upside down over the hill and he said to the guy, remember when i said i was gonna kill you last. The guy said yeah you said that. Arnold said i lied and he dropped the guy down the hill LOL. Cobra is my favorite Sylvester Stallone movie. Those bad guys he was after looked crazy as hell LOL. Especially the guy who was the leader of the bad guys. He really looked crazy. He had a small part at the beginning of The Terminator movie when Arnold asked him for his clothes and he laughed at him. Arnold ended up taking his clothes anyway after he beat him up LOL.
JamesG 04-24-2009, 04:57 PM Only Jet Li movies i like are Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 The Grave, Lethal Weapon 4.
You seem to like the American releases under Jet Li's belt. In my opinion his American movies are way inferior than his movies released in China.
If you haven't seen them I highly recommend you check these Jet Li films out:
The Once Upon In China series
Fist of Legend - I personally think this is Jet Li's best movie.
Twin Warriors
The Fun Sai Yuk series
Hero
More recently, which I thought was excellent, was Jet Li's Fearless. Warlords was pretty good too.
Of Jet Li's American releases I would have to say my favorite is Kiss of the Dragon.
I also liked the one he did with Jackie Chan The Forbidden Kingdom.
I will say his worst movie ever would have to go to The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. I know it's not a martial arts movie but this is by far the worst thing he has done.
I also am looking forward to seeing him in Stallone's The Expendables.
JamesG 04-24-2009, 05:13 PM JamesG remember in Commando movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger when he beat up those cops at the mall? Yes I remember those scenes from Commando.
I haven't seen Stallone's Cobra in years. I believe the actress who played Dolph Lundgren's wife in Rocky IV was in this one; Brigitte Nielsen. I believe Stallone and Nielsen were married at this time.
JamesG 04-26-2009, 11:54 PM Only Jet Li movies i like are Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 The Grave, Lethal Weapon 4.
By the way I forgot to mention this Jet Li film before...
It's a French release that's fairly recent called Danny the Dog aka Unleashed. This was a great film too; Bob Hoskins and Morgan Freeman are also excellent in this one.
JamesG 05-08-2009, 10:41 PM Isiah if you're still there you should check out the free movies YouTube has uploaded in their action section.
They have Van Damme's Nowhere To Run and Double Impact, Cliffhanger, and Jet Li's Once Upon A Time In China.
Check to see what they have... they periodically update.

isiahthomas 05-09-2009, 11:26 AM I saw those Van Damme movies you mentioned. Van Damme has a new movie on video now i wanna see. It's called JCVD which is the initials of his name LOL. Are you talking about Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone? If you are, i saw that. I haven't seen that Jet Li movie you mentioned. I might check out his Unleashed movie.

Van Damme's JCVD was great. It's a French film so if you don't mind subtitles you will like it; I believe there is an English dubbed version but to me that's never the same as watching it "naturally".
Yes, I was talking of Stallone's Cliffhanger.
Once Upon A Time In China and Unleashed are great; I recommend you watch them.
JamesG 06-01-2009, 01:07 AM Isiah, I watched Seagal's Out For Justice recently. I love this bar scene. I forgot how hysterical that scene was.

isiahthomas 06-06-2009, 11:15 AM I love watching Steven Seagal's movies because i like to see him kicking ass hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. He's done a lot of straight to video movies. He comes out with one every month hahahahahahahahahaha. He has a new straight to video movie out now that i wanna see. I forgot the name of it. I was browsing the shelves at Blockbuster Video last week and i saw it but i didn't rent it. I'm gonna rent it today if there's any copies. Gina Gershon is in Out For Justice. Gina is hot.

Seagal has been direct-to-video pretty much since the late 90s.
His most recent release was Driven to Kill and let me tell you it is bad. Seagal plays the part of an ex-Russian mob turned crime author and his attempt at a Russian accent is amusing. He goes in and out of his fake accent a lot.
Before that he did a horror film Against the Dark where he fends off vampires in an abandoned hospital. I haven't seen it but I have heard, from Seagal and horror fans, that the movie sucks and that he is hardly in it.
isiahthomas 06-06-2009, 01:40 PM Driven To Kill sucks huh? I'm still gonna check it out. I've seen most of his straight to video movies and i like most of them. Against The Dark looks like a horror flick and that's why i didn't wanna see it. It's funny to see him kissing women sometimes in his movies because he doesn't look like a romantic guy LOL. I remember he kissed Kelly LeBrock in Hard To Kill movie and she was hot back then. They used to be married. He also kissed Mari Morrow in Today You Die movie. I got a crush on Mari. She's hot. I've been hooked on her since i saw her on In The House tv show with LL Cool J and How To Be A Player movie with Bill Bellamy and Bernie Mac.

Yes, I wasn't at all impressed with Driven To Kill.
Wow, didn't realize you don't like horror. Against The Dark looks like a Blade ripoff. It might be more scary watching Seagal try to do a horror movie.
I like Van Damme's direct-to-videos a lot better than Seagal's. I saw one he did with Vivica Fox The Hard Corps recently. It wasn't bad.
isiahthomas 06-07-2009, 01:33 PM I like The Hard Corps. That's a good movie. I like Vivica Fox. I was surprised to see her kissing Van Damme. The guy that was Vivica's brother in the movie, he played in another movie with her called Cover and his character was bisexual LOL. Cover is a good movie. You should check it out JamesG. It's directed by black actor Bill Duke. Aunjanue Ellis, Leon, Paula Jai Parker, Lou Gossett Jr, Clifton Davis, Obba Babatunde are also in it. Aunjanue is the bisexual guy's wife and she caught him in the shower at a hotel with Leon and he was washing Leon's back hahahahahahahahahahahaha. I rented Jean Claude Van Damme's JCVD movie yesterday. I haven't watched it yet but i'm gonna watch it today. I watched Killshot movie yesterday with Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane, Thomas Jane, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Rosario Dawson. That's a very good movie. Lots of violence. Joseph was crazy as sh*t LOL.

The Hard Corps was good. I liked it and I now have it on DVD. Thanks for the note on Cover, I'll look into it.
Let me know what you thought of JCVD. I thought the movie was excellent. One of the few Van Damme movies to get critical praise.
I do plan on watching Killshot soon. I like everyone in the cast so I look forward to this one.
JamesG 06-11-2009, 08:48 PM Isiah, I saw Steven Seagal back in 2006 I believe. I didn't meet him but I saw him.
At the time he was touring for his second studio album Mojo Priest and he decided to make a one time appearance over at BigAppleCon in NYC. After that he was due to appear to perform over at B.B. Kings.
I was at the convention and I saw Seagal come into the place. What I remember was this big man wearing a black coat coming up the escalator surrounded by "his people". When he got in the place people were screaming and he waved at a couple of people before heading over to his table.
His line was long and it was one of the longest that I've seen for any guest at that particular event. As much as I wanted to get his autograph I did not feel like waiting that long for it. If I got there sooner I probably would have made sure to head over to his spot.
JamesG 06-12-2009, 08:37 PM Isiah I just finished watching Van Damme's Until Death. He plays a New Orleans cop hooked on heroine. I LOVED this one. I was very impressed with it and it goes down now as one of my favorite movies of his.
If you haven't seen it I highly suggest you check it out.
isiahthomas 06-13-2009, 11:51 AM I saw Until Death. It was good. You know what Steven Seagal movie i don't like? Half Past Dead. I can't believe how bad that movie sucked. It was different seeing Morris Chestnut and Nia Peebles(she played on Walker Texas Ranger tv show with Chuck Norris)as villains. Morris was also in Under Siege part 2 with Steven. There's a sequel to Half Past Dead with WWE wrestler Bill Goldberg and rapper Kurupt. I saw it at the grocery store yesterday on the shelf but i didn't get it. Kurupt was in the first Half Past Dead also.

Oh yeah, Half Past Dead sucked. I knew about the direct-to-video sequel with Goldberg but I have no interest.
One of the worst Seagal movies I've seen was Ticker with Dennis Hopper.
Is there a reason you guys aren't pm-ing this stuff?
JamesG 06-13-2009, 04:01 PM Is there a reason you guys aren't pm-ing this stuff?
Is there a problem with it?
isiahthomas 06-13-2009, 04:42 PM Liza, mind your business. Anyway JamesG i forgot about Ticker hahahahahahahahahahaha. That was terrible. Rapper Nas had a small part in that as Steven's partner. They put Nas on the cover of the dvd like he had a big part LOL.
Pardon me, it just seemed weird that you guys were having a private conversation on the public boards. No need to get snappy.

I'm sure if there was a problem here Janice (or another mod) would have came in and told us to stop and take it to the pms. We're discussing movies we like/dislike.
Is this a private discussion or can anybody join?

Yes, anybody can come in. Why can't they?
You're not peeved nobody replied to your post are you? (the one you deleted)

Nope. I deleted it because I realized there were only two people involved in this thread. Go on guys, resume your discussion, I'll leave you alone.

Nas was Tom Sizemore's partner; not Seagal's.
Janice 06-13-2009, 09:22 PM Of course, anyone is allowed to participate in a thread. I do expect others to be welcoming to everyone, as private conversations are not allowed.
Thanks.
Brad Russ 06-13-2009, 11:05 PM I hate most action movies. Basically if it involves Jean Claude, Chuck Norris, Steven Segal, or Dolph Lundgren, I don't want anything to do with it. I respect everyone elses movie tastes, but most action films I find to be boring, and with the actors mentioned above, oftentimes corny. I'll take a good drama, or documentary over an action flick any day of the week.

LOL Brad! All of the above had good and bad movies.
You want a good laugh you have to check this Steven Seagal fight scene out. It's from the movie Kill Switch and the use of body doubles and editing is bad, I mean really bad.

 Oh my gosh, that was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, thanks for the laugh!! lol!! It's amazing how after the beating that the blonde dude took, there was absolutely no blood. The funniest part though was when the two of them were bitch slapping each other for 30 seconds. Thanks for making my night JamesG, that was absolutely great!!! My guts hurt from laughing so hard. lol!!

It didn't even look like Seagal (himself) was there for the fight sequence. It looks like they just filmed his head walking to the camera and put this double in who you can CLEARLY see that it isn't him.
Back to what you said before, the only one who I really can't tolerate is Dolph Lundgren. I really haven't liked any of his movies. The only one I tolerated of his was Universal Soldier but that was because Van Damme was in it as well. I do however like Rocky IV which I think is his only big movie. Ivan Drago was awesome.
All of the other names you listed I do like. Seagal is not what he used to be back in the early 1990s (as you just saw) when he actually put out decent flicks. I do wind up watching whatever he releases and it's hit or miss with him; mostly miss.
Van Damme recently made a comeback with JCVD.

isiahthomas 06-15-2009, 12:13 PM Little Mel, you don't like action flicks? That's surprising to hear. I love action flicks. JamesG, i didn't get a chance to watch JCVD. I had to take it back to Blockbuster Video today but i'm gonna get it again this weekend. JamesG, you should check out this mafia gangsta movie called A Brooklyn State Of Mind with Danny Aiello and Tony Danza. It's a good flick.
isiahthomas 06-15-2009, 12:15 PM Since you mentioned Tom Sizemore JamesG, you should check out his action flick with cutiepie Sherilyn Fenn called Swindle. It's pretty good. Sherilyn is the leader of a bank robbing crew and Tom is a undercover cop who joins her gang so he can bust her crew.
isiahthomas 06-15-2009, 12:41 PM JamesG, have you seen Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino movie yet? It's out on video now. You should check it out. Have you watched Killshot yet with Mickey Rourke and Diane Lane?
isiahthomas 06-15-2009, 12:42 PM Also check out Taken with Liam Neeson if you haven't seen it. Good action flick and Liam's daughter and ex-wife are hot.

Bummer, you disappoint me Isiah lol. JCVD was great, I can't stress that enough. Thanks for the note on A Brooklyn State of Mind.
Since you mentioned Tom Sizemore JamesG, you should check out his action flick with cutiepie Sherilyn Fenn called Swindle. It's pretty good. Sherilyn is the leader of a bank robbing crew and Tom is a undercover cop who joins her gang so he can bust her crew.
Tom Sizemore is not one of my favorite actors so we'll see. Thanks for the recommend...
JamesG, have you seen Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino movie yet? It's out on video now. You should check it out. Have you watched Killshot yet with Mickey Rourke and Diane Lane?
Yes, I saw Gran Torino in the theater. I loved it.
I haven't had a chance to get hold of Killshot yet.
Also check out Taken with Liam Neeson if you haven't seen it. Good action flick and Liam's daughter and ex-wife are hot.
I saw Taken as well in the theater and I loved it. And hot they are... lol.
isiahthomas 06-15-2009, 05:53 PM Famke Jansen who was Liam's ex-wife in Taken is hot. I saw her in Don't Talk To Strangers movie with Michael Douglas and Brittany Murphy and I Spy movie with Owen Wilson(this guy is so corny LOL)and Eddie Murphy. I Spy sucked. I liked Gran Torino also but i didn't like the ending. Clint should've killed those asian gangbangers. Clint was so funny in the movie hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Remember when his son and his son's wife tried to get Clint to move to a nursing home? Clint put them outta his house hahahahahahahahahahaha. Clint had me laughing when he was always talking about his asian neighbors LOL. He couldn't stand them at first but he eventually started to like them. That asian girl that lived next door to him is cute. Remember the scene when the asian girl and that white dude were walking and those 3 black guys were bothering them? There's some fools at rap group Wu Tang Clan's website that were saying about that scene that if they were the white dude, they would've beat up those 3 black guys. I laughed when them fools said that because how is one guy gonna beat up 3 guys? LOL. People are so ignorant. Clint called the white boy a pus*y but i think Clint was wrong for saying that because the white boy did the right thing by not fighting those black guys. If he would've tried to fight those black guys, he would've got his ass whipped. Plus if that would've been me, i'm not gonna fight 3 guys to try and be a hero to show the asian girl that i'm tough LOL. I would never fight some guys over a woman because ain't no woman worth taking a asswhipping for hahahahahahahahahaha.

I first saw Famke Janssen in Robert Rodriguez's The Faculty. You mentioned you don't like horror so I don't know if you've seen that one. It had Elijah Wood and T2's Robert Patrick.
I also know her from the three X-Men films.
The movie you mention as 'Don't Talk To Strangers' I know the title as Don't Say a Word. I think you got titles confused.
Regarding Gran Torino...
I think he choosed to die instead of fight because he was ill and was going to die soon at one point anyway.
isiahthomas 06-18-2009, 06:30 PM You're right that the movie Famke did with Michael Douglas and Brittany Murphy is Don't Say A Word. I saw 2 action flicks recently with Clive Owen which were The International and Shoot Em Up. I was disappointed in The International. It was boring but there was a few good action scenes. Shoot Em Up was very good. Lots of action and Monica Belucci is hot. Paul Giamatti was crazy in Shoot Em Up. I've never seen him like that before. He usually plays funny characters like in Big Momma's House with Martin Lawrence. I also watched another old action flick yesterday with Charles Bronson and his wife Jill Ireland called Love And Bullets. It was pretty good. Rod Steiger and Henry Silva were also in it as bad guys. JamesG, did you know Charles Bronson was very poor when he was a kid? I read a article about his childhood when he passed away and the article said that he had to wear his sister's clothes to school sometimes because his parents couldn't afford to buy him men's clothes. I felt so bad for him when i read that. I'm sure he got teased and laughed at a lot at school because of that.
JamesG 06-19-2009, 01:33 AM You're right that the movie Famke did with Michael Douglas and Brittany Murphy is Don't Say A Word. The International was not a bad movie. The action that it does have is great and I loved the story.
I loved Shoot 'Em Up. That was a great one.
Since you mentioned Charles Bronson I also saw a movie he did with his wife called Hard Times. He's a street fighter and James Coburn is his manager. I saw it in the "Action" section on YouTube's movies.
Yooch 06-19-2009, 01:41 AM There are so many to name, but I liked: Taken, also Flightplan, Angels and Demons, Cliffhanger to name a few.
Also, a classic North by Northwest with Cary Grant, was literally a cliffhanger.
I know I'm leaving some good ones out--these are the first that came to mind.

I loved Cliffhanger and Taken.
I don't know if I'd consider Angels & Demons as an action film. It's more of a mystery filled drama.
Besides that point I really didn't like it. I liked The DaVinci Code a lot better. Angels & Demons wasn't as interesting.
isiahthomas 06-20-2009, 11:56 AM Flightplan with Jodie Foster is good. 2 more movies of her's that are action flicks that i liked are Panic Room with Forest Whitaker and The Brave One with Terrence Howard. LOL@Tom Hanks Angels And Demons movie hahahahahahahahahahahaha. You can't be serious that you consider that a action flick LOL. JamesG, you liked The International? It sucked to me. What's the white girl's name that was in the movie with Clive? Another action flick i like is Relentless with Judd Nelson. That's a 80's flick and it's underrated. Judd was crazy in that one. He would select his victims out of a phone book and kill them. Another action flick of his i like that came out in the 80's is Blue City with Ally Sheedy and Paul Winfield. Ally was hot back in the day. Her and Judd did 2 other movies together which were The Breakfast Club and St.Elmo's Fire.
isiahthomas 06-20-2009, 12:02 PM Charles Bronson did another movie with his wife that i saw called Assassination. It's a good flick. His wife annoys me in some of his flicks. RIP to Charles and Jill. Charles did some good action flicks and i've seen most of them. I know he did some westerns too but i haven't seen them. My grandfather liked him. I saw all of his Death Wish movies and i didn't like part 4.

I didn't think The International was that bad. That is Liev Shrieber's wife Naomi Watts.
I liked Panic Room and The Brave One but I didn't get into Flightplan.
isiahthomas 07-11-2009, 01:03 PM I finally saw Van Damme's JCVD movie and it sucks. You should check out Christian Slater's Love, Lies, Bleeding movie. It's a good action flick. Christian is a crooked DEA agent who goes after a young white guy and a hispanic girl that are a couple because they stole his drug money.

That's too bad that you didn't like JCVD. I thought it was great. What didn't you like about it.
I actually had something to ask you. I want to complete my Van Damme collection by seeing all of his films and there are a few that I haven't seen. Have you seen these films? How were they?
Inferno (1999) w/ Pat Morita
Replicant (2001) w/ Michael Rooker
The Order (2001) w/ Charlton Heston
Second in Command (2006) w/ Julie Cox
isiahthomas 07-11-2009, 03:16 PM The Replicant is the only film of his outta those you named that i've seen. That was pretty good. What i didn't like about JCVD was there was too much back and forth of how the bank got robbed by those bad guys when they wanted you to believe that Van Damme robbed it. I just didn't like it. Too much talking and not enough action.

Thanks. Yeah, eventually I want to see Van Damme's entire catalog. Those four are the ones that I have yet to see.
I see that he is directing a new movie called The Eagle Path. Also Universal Soldiers: The Next Generation is in the works. I see that Lundren is also on board.
