Oprah Pulls Columbine Tragedy Anniversary Special
20 April 2009 3:05 PM, PDT

Oprah Winfrey has cancelled a TV special to mark the 10th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre out of respect for the victims and their families.

Twelve students and a teacher were killed when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold went on a killing spree at the Littleton, Colorado school in 1999, before committing suicide, and Winfrey had planned to mark the tragic date with a show dedicated to the tragedy.

But, in a post on her website, she explains the show, which was to air in the U.S. on Monday, has been scrapped.

She writes, "After reviewing it, I thought it focused too much on the killers.

"Today, hold a thought for the Columbine community. This is a hard day for them."

This year will also be the 10 year class reunion for the Columbine seniors who graduated in 1999. How morbid will THAT reunion be?

She could have just edited it. Plus, as politically incorrect as it is to say, "the killers" were part of the tragedy, too.

She should have gone ahead with it.
