I'm curious what speakers people out there have.

One of my brothers gave me his 3-way speakers (made in the early-1980s) over 20 years ago.
Radio Shack Optimus 50. 12" woofer, 4" midrange, 2.5" tweeter. I have always been satisfied with the sound quality. I had the woofers re-coned because the surrounding material was torn.
Frequency response for these speakers is 50-20,000 Hz. Power handling capacity is 75 watts.

Here are photos of the speakers. Also photos of my receiver. Once again, given to me by (another) brother. This unit is a Kenwood, built in the early-1980s. I like the fact that along with bass and treble controls, it has a loudness switch.

Photos of both...

I have a pair of Sony bookshelf speakers, along with a Pioneer receiver, a TEAC compact disc player, and a Kenwood cassette deck. Except for the cassette deck, all of 'em are fairly recent models, purchased within the past five years.

I've always liked the old vintage cabinets like the ones pictured in your post. Back in the early 1980s I had a set of Sound Research speaker cabinets. They were approx. three feet tall. Can't remember if I bought them at University Stereo or Pacific Stereo, but Sound Research was the house brand at either one of those So. Cal. chainstores. They didn't sound very good but they looked great and they were the biggest speakers I could afford after buying a Kenwood receiver and Pioneer turntable a few days earlier.

On the subject of Realistic stereo components, I still have the Realistic receiver that I received as a Christmas gift in 1975. My mom bought it at Radio Shack along with a turntable and speakers, which didn't last very long. But that old Realistic receiver is still going strong 34 years later!
