View Full Version : SHOCKER: Celtics Lose Game 1 to Chicago 105-103 in NBA 1st Round Playoffs...
Wreckless 04-18-2009, 03:45 PM Derrick Rose had 36 points, and 11 assists in his first playoff game as a player, to match Kareem Abdul Jabbar for the highest amount of points in a player's first game in the playoffs all time...
Ray Allen had a shot at the end to tie the game and to take it into a 2ND OT but failed & Rose had fouled out on the previous play, ending his great day with 36 points, 11 assists & fouling out with 6 fouls.
A shocker- Garnett was no doubtly out for Boston, along with general manager Danny Ainge, recovering from a heart attack suffered this past Thursday night. Ainge should be back and released by Sunday afternoon, for Boston's next game- Game 2 held at home & Garnett will/could potentially miss the rest of the playoffs, depending on how far they go, for the Celtics..
A great game, this is great news. All Chicago has to do now, is win all their home games in this series and don't have to win another game in Boston, if they do that, and can shock the world! But it's only one Game so far. Thoughts, reactions on this??

Only one game. I remember how EXCITED i was when the Pacers beat the 76ers in Game 1 in 2001 of the First Round Eastern Playoffs and never won another game after that.
Wreckless 04-18-2009, 10:03 PM Yeah it's only one game, but I hope Boston loses in 4.
They bitch and complain more then anybody any team I know. They always try to get their way, instead of just playing the game and letting bygons be bygons with the refs. I always see Garneet, Pierce or Doc....actually wait a second, that's not Doc. Julius Erving is doc and the only doc, so he's Glen Rivers. He only calls himself Doc cause he's an Erving fan, but yeah. All of those guys argue everytime until the refs screw up and call the game their way or nothing. I do hope Danny Ainge is alright though and returns safely.

boston only lost because of a missed foul shot

Saying Orlando wins too...but yeah, I don't know....it'll be a great series, either way, Boston could still win but it would much harder without their centerpiece..

yeah but paul pierce had a horrible game, and a terrible first half anyway...i think he only had 4 shots in the first half, but only made 1 and didn't take it to the hoop to give his team a better chance, especially if he was playing bad at the time in which he was.

Boston lost because Paul Pierce and Ray Allen went a combined 9/33. Pierce can create his own shots, but many of Allen's baskets come from Garnett being double-teamed. He can't create his own shots like he used to. He's much more of a pure shooter now.

look for pierce to be wild in game 2

He'll show up. It's Ray Allen who couldn't make the shot if Jesus Shuttlesworth's life depended on it lol. And he did this LAST year too. His inconsistencies, especially in the playoffs when it's crunch time, is unacceptable and will get Boston out fast if it continues I think.

Pierce going wild is going to result in him either 1)Scoring 35-40 points or 2)Another 8/21 night.
