View Full Version : This will be a shock to some of you but I kind of like the 1981-1985 era better-lol
TVFactFan 04-18-2009, 01:32 AM It was a more relaxed era of the show, George was more relaxed, still funny but I noticed that he wasn't really yelling anymore during that time. The show just has a more relaxed feel and I can really fall back and enjoy those episodes. Can't say the same for the 1975-78 era
catlover79 04-18-2009, 01:43 AM There's nothing wrong with that. The only bad thing about that era (and the whole show) was the episode about the dog jumping out the window. The rest of it was cool, especially "Mom" the bartender.

Well i think the only bad thing was BABY JESSICA-lol
Glad the role of Baby Jessica wasn't that big until 85

Oh I just hate that episode!!! :(
TVFactFan 04-18-2009, 01:52 AM Oh I just hate that episode!!! :(
I didn't like it for two reasons
The real Mr. Whittendale was not in the ep
I was not crazy about seeing George spend his evening with a Dog
LOL-LOL
catlover79 04-18-2009, 02:01 AM Oh I just hate that episode!!! :(
Me, too!! I hate that ep with a passion. But I did love the episode with Mom. It was basically the women who carried the show - Louise and Helen were in the whole episode. George and Tom were only seen in the first couple of minutes.
OH Nuts! 04-18-2009, 11:15 AM You could give me any season of the Jeffersons & I'd eat it up. It's a grand ol show with some very funny characters. Although, I thought Mike Evans was the best Lionel and that it was a disappointment when he left.

I just realized that Mike Evans left Twice and returned Twice-lol
Left in 1975 nd returned in 1979
Left in 1982 and returned in 1985
catlover79 04-18-2009, 04:22 PM I was just watching the All-Star Family Feud DVD and saw the Jeffersons cast play. It was kind of sad because four of the five Jeffersons "family" members are no longer with us. The team was Isabel Sanford, Mike Evans, Roxie Roker, Franklin Cover and Marla Gibbs. (I wonder where Sherman was?) I think the ep was filmed in 1980/81.

Here you go, Sol:

Pav also had a blog about it at one point, if I'm not mistaken. I think this set came out in early 2008. Anyway, the theme was the "City vs. Country". So The Jeffersons played vs. The Dukes of Hazzard.

The actor who played Mom went on to play the uncle in Gimme a Break, I think.

This is a shock, because you always preferred the 1975 George over anything. Me personally, I can't stomach some of those episodes from 81-85. I think the writing had changed with the times.

I would have loved to see that! The Jeffersons vs. Hazzard County! I may order that, I have an account with amazon, and I order DVDs and apparell from there often.
BTW, who represented the Dukes of Hazzard?

I know but after being exposed to that era a lot I become attracted to it mainly because of the reasons below
No Damon Evans at all
No Bentley for Two Years
More George and Florence
Less Jenny
No Mother Jefferson

Nope, Bo and Luke weren't in the episode vs. The Jeffersons. I don't know why Sherman wasn't there, either. But everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun - it was a good ep worth watching.

That's right. Isabel even mentioned that the show was in its 7th season.
catlover79 03-28-2011, 03:18 AM Marla Gibbs returned to FF in a "Heroes vs. Villains" special. Others on her team were Tom Wopat (Dukes of Hazzard) and Mackenzie Phillips (One Day at a Time).

Yup that's the cast
lucyandethel 03-29-2011, 12:38 AM "The Jeffersons" had an interesting run. It went up and down in the ratings. I think it got its highest season rating in 1981/82 when it landed at No. 3 on the ratings but it was already sort of drying up by then. It ran for 11 years, and earned its highest rating in season 8. Interesting.....
catlover79 03-29-2011, 12:42 AM Never a dull moment, that's for sure!!

The move that saved the show was the one in 79-80 when it was shifted to Sundays nights. One night that never seemed to work for this show was Wednesdays
