In a move that would dumbfound Rose and annoy Sophia, "The Golden Girls" is heading to Turkey.
Disney-ABC-ESPN Television has licensed the scripted format of the comedy series to independent production company Play Prods. to be broadcast on Turkish satellite broadcaster ATV.

The foursome will be played by Turkish thesps: Hulya Kocyigit as Dorothy, Nevra Serezli as Blanche, Fatma Girik as Sophia and Turkan Soray as Rose.

The original comedy aired on NBC for seven seasons, beginning in 1985, and garnered 68 Emmy nominations and 10 wins.

Interesting. I'll have to ask my friends who I met during my visit to Istanbul last year to watch it and tell me what they think! :lol:

I wonder how it will do.

Now I am dying to hear the Turkish version of "Thank You For Being A Friend."
