Harry Potter Star Arrested In Drug Raid
8 April 2009 12:06 AM, PDT
Harry Potter star Jamie Waylett has been arrested after cops allegedly caught him growing marijuana in his home.
The British actor, who plays Vincent Crabbe in the wizard franchise, was recently stopped by cops in London while he was driving through the city centre with a friend.
The officers allegedly discovered eight bags of cannabis in the vehicle and arrested both men on suspicion of drug possession. They then ordered a raid on the 19-year-old's home in Camden, North London.
Drug squad officers are said to have subsequently discovered ten cannabis plants at the property, worth around $2,900 (£2,000), meaning Waylett now stands accused of production of a Class B drug.
A police spokesman tells British newspaper The Sun, "Both men have been bailed until July pending further enquiries and tests on the substances."
Waylett has appeared in all of the Harry Potter films to date as Vincent Crabbe; friend of Draco Malfoy and member of the Slytherin group.

Waylett Escapes Jail Sentence
21 July 2009 9:06 AM, PDT
Harry Potter actor Jamie Waylett has avoided a lengthy jail spell - he's been sentenced to community service after pleading guilty to drug charges.
The 19 year old, who plays bully Vincent Crabbe in the boy wizard franchise, was arrested in April after police pulled over his car and caught him in possession of several bags of marijuana.
A raid on his home in Camden, north London uncovered 10 cannabis plants and he was charged with illegal production of a Class-b drug.
Waylett confessed to the crime earlier this month and faced up to 14 years behind bars.
But he was given a lucky break when he appeared for sentencing at London's Westminster Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning - he was handed 120 hours of community service.
Judge Timothy Workman accepted that Waylett's production had been "small scale" and had been growing the pot plants for his own use.
He also declared the actor was essentially a man of "good character" and let him off with a less severe punishment.

You just can't trust those Slytherins.
Weed's something Harry Pothead would be caught with.
Slytherins would probably be heroin dealers.

Waylett 'In Hiding From Drug Gangs'
4 Jan 2010
Shamed Harry Potter star Jamie Waylett is in hiding from violent gangs over drugs debts, according to a U.K. report.
The 20 year old, who is known to millions as Hogwarts bully Vincent Crabbe in the wizard franchise, was arrested last year after police pulled over his car and caught him in possession of several bags of cannabis.
His London home was subsequently raided by cops, who discovered the star was growing 10 cannabis plants. He was charged with illegal production and was handed 120 hours community service.
But his troubles didn't stop there - he is living in constant fear he will be beaten up or kidnapped over thousands of dollars he owes to gangsters, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.
The publication claims Waylett moved out of his family's home in Kilburn, north-west London and has been hiding out in a homeless hostel for the past two months.
A source tells the tabloid, "He owes thousands to drug dealers. He's borrowed from loads of people. Now they want his money. They'd probably beat him up or kidnap him if they got him - but they don't know where he is.
"Jamie has to stay at the hostel five nights a week or he loses his room. He does go back to see friends sometimes, but he has problems in Kilburn."
Waylett's character has been written out of the series' final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, following the incidents.
