View Full Version : Mysterious bearded stranger...
crystaldawn 04-07-2009, 12:35 PM I was just watching the NBC version of the Joe and Mattie Harvey case and they have this talk of a mysterious bearded stranger I don't remember from the Lifetime version. (If anyone remembers any of this from the Lifetime airing, let me know). Of course the segment didn't have an update so there was more time but I'm wondering if once Cheryl was caught they thought it was irrelevant. They said that 5 days after the murders (when Cheryl was on the run and Eddie was in jail) that a mysterious heavy set bearded man appeared to be following Cheryl. They showed her walking into a gas station and as soon as this man pulled up in a red truck she abruptly left the store. He was seen outside talking to her but she didn't seem to want to talk to him. She later spotted in a different location talking to a man meeting the same description in her truck. Another compelling fact was a man matching this same description was seen at Cheryl's work a day before the murders and Cheryl was seen writing him a check. I wonder what the connection was between him and Cheryl. Could she have incurred some huge debts for whatever reason and after she wrote this guy a check needed a lot of money to cover it? Just speculation on my part but its curious Lifetime seemed to leave this whole story about the stranger out (if I'm remembering correctly that is). Here's his composite sketch for anyone interested:

You just scared the crap out of me with that giant sized composite photo, CD:eek: :D
Kind of looks like a bearded version of Steve Dallas of Bloom County fame.
Need to look up more on the case before I can come up with a response.
justins5256 04-07-2009, 02:44 PM you are watching episodes in chronological order, no?

Yes, pretty much. Of course skipping through any ones about unexplained, ghosts or legends. :)
Glad to have gotten your attention Mastermind. I had wondered if maybe the "mysterious bearded stranger" was Tony Alamo...
MegtheEgg86 04-07-2009, 09:18 PM Whoa! Major freak out!
That sketch reminds me of one of the guys wanted for the Roger Wheeler murder...Luis was his first name. All I remember is a sketch (presumably of him) and a photo where he's wearing a Seattle Seahawks sweatshirt and looking quite inebriated.

Just make sure you watch the Resurrection Mary and Healing UFO stories. Remember, you promised me we would have a deep penetrating discussion on those topics. :)

slasherman 04-10-2009, 12:08 PM Looks like they wanted people to think the beard was fake...

HAHAHA:lol:  HAHAHAHA!!! It totally does.
@MegTheEgg86: I can remember watching that segment way back when it first aired and being absolutely floored because the guy in that photo looked dead on like my dad. The salt and pepper beard, the big tummy, etc. That's not such a big deal, but what really clinched the comparison was my dad was born and raised on Alkai Beach in West Seattle and was the biggest Seattle Seahawks fan there ever lived. His booth at work had bumper stickers and dolls and football cards and all sorts of trinkets his customers would bring in for him. I can even remember talking about it to him later that week when he told me, because of "that show you watch", a bunch of guys at work were giving him **** about it, laughing and telling him they were going to turn him in for the reward. Damn, that memory is like 20 years old.
supersally1974 04-10-2009, 11:05 PM AAAAAAAAAAAH! :eek2:
... whoah, CD! That one made me jump off the couch. Just when I thought it was safe to go back on the message board again, all by my lonesome on a Saturday night, I get an oversized police sketch jump at me.

 Bang on!
Corky Kneivel 04-11-2009, 04:25 PM @Crystaldawn: perhaps this mysterious bearded stranger is the person who provided Cheryl with her new identity(identities?) for her flight from justice. I remember them bringing up in the UM segment that she was working and living under an assumed identity.
It wouldn't surprise me if she had procured, beforehand, new identities for only herself, totally keeping her husband out of it, just in case her dullard hubby was unable to escape taking the fall. She was just too stupid to not have her and her husband wear gloves. Really what a horrible person has her kids lay down in the back seat while the parents go and off their beloved auntie and unky.
