I saw this last night and I was not impressed. It looked like they just copied and ripped-off scenes from other films.

The premise of 12 Rounds is that John Cena plays a New Orleans police officer who stumbles upon the FBI tracking down an international arms dealer/thief. Cena apprehends the suspect and his girlfriend but when she tries to run away she gets killed by a jeep. The man vows revenge against Cena for this.

After he escapes from prison he kidnaps Cena's girlfriend and says that he now has to play a game consisting of 12 Rounds and depending on his actions people will live or die.

Right here, this sounds like the premise of Die Hard with a Vengeance when Bruce Willis has to go about the town playing puzzle games and stopping terrorist acts while the man has him on the phone.

They ripped off Speed when they featured Cena trying to stop a run-away trolley down the street.

They ripped off Die Hard again when Cena jumps off of a rooftop grabbing onto a chopper.

The idea with people dying while you try to figure out clues sounds like it came from SAW and it had some elements from Phonebooth where the killer has Collin Farrell on the phone and he has tasks to do. The bad guy in 12 Rounds even shouted the famous "Game Over" line that Jigsaw from SAW made famous.

All in all 12 Rounds is just not worth it; very predictable and unoriginal. It advertised it's made by the Die Hard 2 director and the producers of Speed but I didn't think they would rip off plots and scenes directly.

To me this one goes down in the garbage bin with the other WWE films; except for John Cena's The Marine which I still think is the best "wrestling movie".
