This was the short lived spin-off of The Love Boat that came on in the late 90s. Robert Ulrich was the lead in this one.
Why do you think this never caught on?

View Full Version : Did Anyone Ever Get To See "The Love Boat: The Next Wave"? JamesG 04-05-2009, 07:39 PM This was the short lived spin-off of The Love Boat that came on in the late 90s. Why do you think this never caught on? robyrob 04-05-2009, 08:19 PM i saw it a few times, it was OK, but it was in a dead timeslot and it wasn't that great, and needed better guest stars catlover79 04-05-2009, 09:36 PM I think I saw part of an episode when it was first on. I don't remember a thing about it except the boat. cleverfun3000 04-05-2009, 09:49 PM http://i41.tinypic.com/a1sltu.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/1yrdk1.png Marvo301 04-05-2009, 10:19 PM I saw several episodes of this show. I tuned into this show hoping it would recreate the spirit and atmosphere of the original. I found that it didn't. In fact the only episode I really enjoyed was the one were several members of the original cast guest starred. Jude The Obscure 04-05-2009, 11:14 PM I think UPN expected too much of this show, considering how some other low rated fare kept on going for years.... yankeesfan82 10-25-2009, 08:07 PM I liked the show. So did my parents (and they like the origianl as well). I don't know why it didn't last. angiefan 12-26-2009, 07:55 PM Nope.Never got the chance to see it. bencasey 01-05-2010, 04:12 AM It also didn't really fit into the UPN's target (ghetto) demographic. browneyes106 01-07-2010, 11:42 PM I saw a few episodes and it seemed like an ok show but I can see where it failed on the UPN. Vinni_Rattolle 01-10-2010, 01:59 AM The show wasn't bad, but they didn't get any big-draw guest stars, and it was a terminal case of "one of these things is not like the others" on UPN. Skywalker 01-10-2010, 02:50 AM I watched a few episodes. The only reason I even bothered to watch it was because WCW superstars Bill Goldberg and Kevin Nash made an appearance in one episode and I was a huge wrestling fan at the time. Rue McClanahan also appeared in that episode, IIRC. I remember watching the reunion show, but after a few more eps, I just lost interest. Skywalker 01-10-2010, 03:04 AM i saw it a few times, it was OK, but it was in a dead timeslot and it wasn't that great, and needed better guest stars Yeah, if you want good ratings, you need better guest stars than people like Clooney's ex-wife, the guy who played Cody on Step By Step, ALF, and Winnie and Wayne from the Wonder Years. James28 01-19-2010, 01:20 AM Was the Love Boat: The Next Wave a real sitcom? I heard some sources say that it was a drama. JamesG 01-19-2010, 03:21 AM Was the Love Boat: The Next Wave a real sitcom? I heard some sources say that it was a drama. I've never seen the show so I can't comment from first-hand knowledge but from what I know the show is officially listed as a "comedy" and not a "drama". |
