I remebr long ago I saw a commercial for a GI playset. It showed an old man with his grandson on the beach (I think), and it said, "remeber how you(or your kids) pretend that you're on a uncharted island?" (I'm paraphrasing) Then they introduced a Gilligan's Island playset, that consisted of a floatable island, and three figures, of Gilligan, Skipper, and Mary Ann, and showed a kid having fun in the bath tub with it. Anyone remember it?
Wonder why they didn't include the rest of the castaways.

You know, I never thought about why they had just three castaways. The only thing I can think of is maybe they were planning on releasing another set with the rest and never did.
Yes, it was a plastic toy made by Playskool for young children. It is not too elaborate although it has some fun pieces. Because of this, they might have just included a few characters. What I would love to know, though, is, why those three in particular? OK--Gilligan and the Skipper are the main attraction of the show--but why Maryann? The set comes with a tree, boat, anchor, raft, hut, treasure chest and anchor I believe. Where does Maryann fit it? Does anyone have an idea about this?

They proabaly just chose a castaway at random. Or maybe they picked Mary Ann becasue she ahd a crush on Gilligan.
