the episode-"KELLY'S KIDS"

I was confused because I woke up and see this litle boy who looks just like Bobby and he is laying in bed talking to who I thought was his mom and dad. And I'm hearing the same Brady music but not seeing any of the Bradys-lol Just this ciouple and then a black and chinese kid and then all of a sudden I see the Bradys at the end of the episode.

I was freaked out because the couple was acting just like Mike and Carol. The woman sounded and acting like Carol and the Guy sounded and acting like Mike. I was like-"WHERE THE HELL ARE HE BRADYS?-LOL

The kid who looked like Bobby was Todd Lookinland who happens to be the brother of Mike Lookinland who played Bobby.

Yeah I just read that on Tv.com. I was thinking Bobby ran away from home and had a new mom and dad-lol

It actually went to the series in the '80s as "Together We Stand" with Dee Wallace and Elliot Gould. A young Scott Grimes played one of their kids. The show was pulled after a few weeks. After Elliot pulled a Robert Reed, Sherwood reworked the concept to say Dee was now a widow and retitled the series "Nothing is Easy".....still got yanked after a few episodes.

Same here --

I watched the series pretty faithfully during its original run, and in reruns for many years, but never saw this one until Saturday.

I guess that I missed its original airing back in the '70s, but is it possible that, for some reason, this episode was not shown often in reruns until recently?

Yeah that may be the case. Maybe my local stations skipped the episode over the years.

I don't EVER remember seeing that one and I watched the original run of the show, let alone thousands of repeats!!!

LOL - seemed like back then, anything Elliot Gould was in got yanked after only a few airings!!! lol

Sorta sounds like the Jolie-Pitts 30 years sooner....

I've seen the episode in reruns at least 2 or 3 times, and I believe that was all either on Nick at Nite or TV Land...
I thought it would've made for an interesting series...not my favorite of all episodes, but it was cute...

That was my biggest syndication shock since I saw Laverne, Mork, and Fonzie in the Cunningham's Living Room-lol

Another distinction for Kelly's Kids: According to TV Guide, it was the last-ever ep rerun on ABC primetime on Aug. 30, 1974.

Just for the record, Ken Berry guest-starred as the dad in the Brady Bunch episode. Mayberry R.F.D. had ended in the spring of 1971 on CBS; Ken was free to do something new. ABC was probably looking to create a series in which he could star.

I saw this episode when TBS used to show reruns. The first time I saw it I was a little thrown off by the Bobby clone at first.

I'm surprised so many people say they didn't see this episode in reruns. It was always in the regular rerun cycle on the US and Canadian stations I watched it on. TVGuide even stated in the rerun listing about it being a pilot for "Kelly's Kids".

For some reason, looks like the Local stations always SKIPPED this episode and it was only shown on Cable

One of the things that surprised me most about this episode was the Archie Bunker reference. It was odd to hear such a reference in a clean-cut show like the Brady Bunch. Then again, if this had been picked up, it might have been a completely different series, which is what Sherwood Schwartz might have been going for.

It's the only episode I refuse to watch when it comes on! Arrival of Oliver is getting there though!
