"Both [Petal] and Jools are doing well. The Olivers would like to thank midwives Linda Ordish and Elaine Porter and also obstetrician William Dennis for their wonderful help and support," a rep for the celebrity chef said in a statement. "Jamie and Jools are both completely smitten with Petal already, and Jamie is looking forward to two weeks paternity leave to spend quality time with his four beautiful girls."
Just two days ago Jamie was busy cooking for President Obama and numerous world leaders at the G20 summit in London.

Marvo301 04-04-2009, 12:04 AM Wow, it's hard to believe they could be that cruel to their own children! I don't think celebrities think this through and realize that these kids are going to have to live with these names for a lifetime.
catlover79 04-04-2009, 12:26 AM If celebrities must breed, they should not be allowed to choose the baby names!! (With some exceptions - all Charlie Sheen's kids have normal names - Cassandra, Sam, Lola, Bob and Max, for example.)
Marvo301 04-04-2009, 12:37 AM If celebrities must breed, they should not be allowed to choose the baby names!! (With some exceptions - all Charlie Sheen's kids have normal names - Cassandra, Sam, Lola, Bob and Max, for example.)
I agree!! Most celebrities shouldn't be allowed to pick baby names. We don't need any more Dweezils, Moon Units, or Kal-Els!
browneyes106 04-04-2009, 12:43 AM Daisy isn't a bad name. But Poppy and Petal are goofy names.
TripperFan 04-04-2009, 03:56 AM Daisy isn't a bad name. But Poppy and Petal are goofy names.
After a few diapers, they can change them to Poopy and Stinky cuz that's about as stupid as what they are now.
coffield3 04-04-2009, 05:57 AM Good grief they are getting worse!!
PunkyP0WER 04-04-2009, 06:45 AM i think its basically become a contest in Hollywood now, who can pick the most unusual name.
comedyfreak 04-04-2009, 08:38 AM i think its basically become a contest in Hollywood now, who can pick the most unusual name.
Yeah, at the expense of the poor kid.
sunshinefizzy 04-04-2009, 09:21 AM You think that's bad??? Eryka Badu named her third child Twitty Milk for Christ's sake!!!
Sharop 04-04-2009, 09:33 AM If celebrities must breed, they should not be allowed to choose the baby names!! (With some exceptions - all Charlie Sheen's kids have normal names - Cassandra, Sam, Lola, Bob and Max, for example.)
The Bee Gees all gave their kids nice names. Well, I think they're nice names.
Barry Gibb has five children - four boys and a girl. His daughter is named Alexandra (Ali for short) and his sons are named Stephen, Ashley, Travis and Michael (Ashley is predominantly a male name in the UK where the Bee Gees are from.)
Robin's children are named Spencer, Melissa and Robin-John.
Maurice's children are named Adam and Samantha.
I like the names of John Lennon's sons (Julian and Sean.) Julian is one of my favourite names.
Not all celebrities give their children unusual names. Quite a lot stick to traditional ones.
In defence of the more unusual names, though, I have to say that I like some of them. You've probably all heard of the actor River Phoenix who died in 1993 at the age of 23? (Joaquin Phoenix is his younger brother.) Well, River's parents were hippies and they gave most of their children "nature" names which I think are lovely. River was of course named River (River Jude), his brother is called Joaquin (but was nicknamed Leaf as a child) and his sisters are called Rain, Liberty and Summer.
Those are lovely names. Especially River. I love the name River Phoenix. It sounds so fresh and pretty.
coffield3 04-04-2009, 10:54 AM You think that's bad??? Eryka Badu named her third child Twitty Milk for Christ's sake!!!
Geez!! Thats crazy!!
Maybe they will all go the same school, and I wonder what the school would be called??
catlover79 04-04-2009, 11:16 AM You think that's bad??? Eryka Badu named her third child Twitty Milk for Christ's sake!!!
Say WHAT?? Poor kid...ohno:
Sharop 04-04-2009, 11:22 AM The Bee Gees gave their kids good names, though.
I think River Phoenix is a lovely name. His parents weren't famous though. Although their son would be.
MonarC 04-04-2009, 12:44 PM I guess some people are tired of the same old names. Maybe they are just trying to help their child stand out with an unusual name. Poor kids.
MickeyMac 04-04-2009, 03:02 PM Dont these parents know these kids have to go through life with these names????
Marvo301 04-04-2009, 03:35 PM Dont these parents know these kids have to go through life with these names????
Obviously these Celebs don't think ahead to the future at all when they name their kids. And unfortunately is the kids who have to ultimately pay the price!
browneyes106 04-04-2009, 04:39 PM I think the weirdest celebrity baby name is Jason Lee's son Pilot Inspecktor.
Sharop 04-05-2009, 08:23 AM Obviously these Celebs don't think ahead to the future at all when they name their kids. And unfortunately is the kids who have to ultimately pay the price!
The Bee Gees do!
Does anyone else like River Phoenix's name? It was a beautiful name.
But guys - the Bee Gees gave their kids ordinary names.

MonarC, do you like River?
Anyway, everyone - the Bee Gees all gave their children ordinary names. There are famous people who give their kids conventional names - The great Bee Gees!
80sTrivia 04-05-2009, 08:36 AM What is wrong with these celebrities chosing baby names more fitted for a pet gerbil or turtle than for a child?

80sTrivia 04-05-2009, 08:51 AM My favorite Ludicrous Celebrity Baby Name is Penn Gillette, who chose to name his innocent daughter Moxie Crimefighter...
catlover79 04-05-2009, 12:38 PM Anne Heche just named her new baby ATLAS!! puke: I think Rand McNally would've made a more normal name...
Rachel Griffiths named her son Banjo. Of course Gwyneth Paltrow had Apple. Jermain Jackson named his son Jermajesty.
Some of the better celebrity baby names I've heard:
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's daughters: Violet and Seraphina
Toby McGuire's daughter Ruby
Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker's son, James
Christian Bale's daughter Emmeline
Hugh Jackman's children, Oscar and Ava
Naomi Watts and Leiv Schreiber's sons, Alexander and Samuel
Rachel Griffiths's daughter Adelaide (I love that name! If I ever have a daughter, I'm naming her that.)

My family's actually the other way around - we give our pets human names. I have Dinah, Gideon, and Melanie. My parents have Benjamin and Annie. See, we wouldn't even name our cat Moxie Crimefighter!
Theda Bara 04-06-2009, 01:44 AM Rachel Griffiths named her son Banjo. Of course Gwyneth Paltrow had Apple. Jermain Jackson named his son Jermajesty.

I love the name Adelaide , too; it is actually a family name (on my mom's side) my great aunt was a Adelaide and she was like a mom to my mother while she was growing up and she was also a very beautiful woman as well. I think she was Miss Missouri of 1932 or something  And, one time (before she died) she told my mom, that she would always be her guardian angel...
MickeyMac 04-06-2009, 11:21 AM Who was the celebrity that named their kid Apple??

Yes, an actress. She was once engaged to Brad Pitt (back in the 90s) and dated Ben Affleck before marrying singer Chris Martin. Gwyneth is also the daughter of actress Blythe Danner and producer Bruce Paltrow (White Shadow, St. Elsewhere, etc.).
MickeyMac 04-06-2009, 03:23 PM ^
Wow thats way more than I know.
Chocoholic 04-06-2009, 03:27 PM Poor kids. I don't know what goes on in these parents' minds. It's not just celebrities though. Remember Talula Does the Hula and 4real/Superman?

I absolutely love the name, Alexandra. If I ever have a daughter that will be her middle name...
catlover79 04-06-2009, 11:26 PM Each of the Gibb brothers had one daughter - all with pretty names. Barry's is Alexandra, Robin's is Melissa, Maurice's is Samantha and Andy's is Peta Jaye. Peta's name is actually fitting because she works as a champion dog breeder in Australia. :D
80sTrivia 04-07-2009, 04:58 AM We mustn't forget My Name Is Earl's Jason Lee who named his son Pilot Inspektor! Classic! Or Numbers actor Rob Morrow who named his daughter Tu... as in Tu Morrow! Giving your child a play-on-words name is... heck, I'm not sure what it is!

Celebrity gossip? She won Best Actress in 1998 - sorry, but I'd say you're just a little behind the times ;)
What about Rob Morrow's daughter. They named her Tu which is weird on it's own, but combined with her last name it's down right cruel.
