Started watching my season 1 DVD that I got for free last year. I forgot how fun this show was and since I've rarely seen this show in reruns, all the episodes seem brand new. I see the roots of Mork and Mindy's future relationship being laid out very early here. The pilot was longer than the usual half hour affair and it was good to see the crossover with the Fonz and Laverne! What would have been a great extra on this set--the pilot for "Out of the Blue" which Mork made a guest appearance (and further blurring the lines of whether this was or wasn't a Happy Days spinoff, since the angel Random did appear on a Happy Days episode). I'm just about to start Disc 2 and if possible, will post more observations. I'm also kinda reluctant to get the other seasons knowing I'm in for disappointment with the season 2 overhaul (that was a very big mistake!).

The good news is they brought back Conrad Janis and Elizabeth Kerr in season three. The Bad news is that by that time the writing had gone in the toilet and it really didn't matter.

Oh I'm aware of the series and its changes, Marv as I watched it in primetime. It is one of those series that isn't a must buy for me. just like L&S, esp after season 4.

There was a line in the episode "Mork VS. The Necrotrons" like this. It is when Mork and Mindy are in the cage talking. I don't remember the exact quote, but it is to something like, "I only wish I had got to meet Anson Williams." This episode is from Season 2. Hope this helps!

Ok thanks, someone on TV.com posted that he said it in the season 1 episode about the Snow Flakes which was inaccurate.

I don't believe it was cut when put on dvd, but it's been a really long time since I've seen the originals when they did air on tv. I do know when Sci-Fi aired the Thanksgiving Day Marathon that the opening credits were shortened from the original versions.

It looked to me like the whole episode. I couldn't find anything missing in it.

The pilot runs close to an hour, so yes it is uncut!

The Mork and Mindy Pilot is how I found Sitcomsonline. I was researching trying to make sure I wasn't dreaming when I saw Laverne and Mork in the Cunningham's Living room-lol

Yea, I remember that detail and knew it wasn't an episode of L&S or HD. Didn't recall if it was Mork & Mindy or his appearance on Out of the Blue.

The scene that was stuck in my head was Mork chasing Laverne around the couch-lol

Ok I was wondering if the Pilot was Cut

In the UK, I'm fairly certain the pilot has always been aired cut. Mork's report to Orson is retained in the videonovel, and I didn't get to see this for real until the DVD release. When Mindy gives the telephone number of her father, the audio on UK trasmissions are also slightly garbled, whereas it isn't on the DVD.

Also, at the beginning of the first episode proper on DVD, there is a strange little prologue and a 'rewind' to show this is a report to Orson? I'm fairly sure I never saw this on any UK transmitted versons either...

I've really enjoyed the first season, seeing Morgan Farichild for 3 or 4 episodes as snobby Susan Taylor (her landing Flamingo Road prevented her from doing more episodes) and the introduction of Mr. Bickley.

OP, how did you get a free dvd ?

^Through the now defunct Pepsi Stuff promotion (their answer to My Coke Rewards). You saved enough points to get DVDs from Amazon--at no cost to you! I got M&M, Happy Days season 1, Laverne & Shirley season 1, and Bosom Buddies season 1 all this way. Was sad when the promo ended :(

Actually, I got codes from friends as well that were not doing the promotion. So that helped out a lot!

This show aired when I was in elementary school and everyone watched it. But even as kids by 1981 few were talking about the show anymore. Its on Antenna TV or MeTv on the weekends and I watch. I love classic comedies from the 70s and 80s. However much of this show is not that great. Most of the appeal of the show was Robin's fantastic comedy and shtick. No one could have done it better. The first season is good. It provided for interesting scripts like an alien learning about Earth and humans. But soon those ideas ran out. It also did not help how the show was constantly revamped. Season 2 fires Mindy's dad and grandmother and introduces new characters. It gets revamped again with the romantic interest between Mork and Mindy. Then once again when they have an alien baby. Some of the episodes in the later seasons I start to watch but turn off. IMHO its one of the few sitcoms from the late 70s that I am not that interested in watching.
But being 9 and 10 years old was the highlight of the week for me and many other kids.
